Re: E3 2014: Zelda Wii U Looks So Great You Really Should Put It On Your Desktop

Emblem

@Chris720 Everyone is doing Dark Fantasy at the moment, movies, tv shows and games are milking it like the 80-90's milked sci-fi and aliens. I watch GOT and i have Dragon Age pre-ordered but i don't want that in Zelda, at least not when everyone else is doing it.

I'm not a major Zelda fan so take my opinion with a little salt but this art style looks awesome to me and i've already pre-ordered it.

Re: Exclusive: Shantae And The Pirate's Curse Is Also Coming to Wii U

Emblem

"However, the Wii U version takes things to another level entirely, mixing HD artwork with pixel-based sprites." Really? Did you just spin a negative into a positive art direction? These are the same devs that said the would not give a HD update to a previous game as they believed sales wouldn't justify the cost (based on their last outing.)

Re: 1001 Spikes Creator Believes Trends Are Shifting Back Towards Tough, Challenging Games

Emblem

Sadley this is incorrect, what's actually happening is fragmenting. Gaming on a whole is becoming more casual/cinematic while gameplay is becoming niche, within that niche yes they are correct and tougher games are becoming popular again.

Just look at any top 10 list of sales or game of the year, gamers choice etc. Outside of PC game lists your unlikely to find much games that are not interactive movies, sport or accessible shoot em ups.

Re: Nintendo Download: 5th June (Europe)

Emblem

@ULTRA-64 No don't get COL yet it is quite boring unless you play on hard difficulty as the combat system is easy to bypass and cheat otherwise. On hard however you need to use the fairy to slow foes regularly and often timing is crucial and this brings the real excitement. You can swap difficulty mid game to see the glaring difference.

In anycase you'll need both thumbs to get the most out of it.

Edit: Good game but it has been over hyped so manage your expectations.

Re: Video: Comcept's Latest Mighty No. 9 Footage Shows Off Some Tasty Gameplay

The more i see the more i'm disappointed, i wanted this to be more than just modern Mega-man. All the talk of moving forward and not just copy pasting Mega-man has yet to be proven to me.

Well at least the rabid Mega-man fans all seem to love it and all the suggestions from fans so far have been pushing the project close to clone than originality.

Re: Guide: Getting Started in Mario Kart 8

Yep definitely start at 50cc, havnt played for years but jumped in the deep end, needless to say all I managed to get was a silver and that was partly by luck. Best MK yet nostalgia aside.

Re: Evil Controllers Offers Custom Mario-Themed Wii U Pro Controllers

Emblem

@Spanjard Take a look at the Afterglow pad, its see thru like the old N64 pads (can light up aswell) and its build quality is excellent. It also has trigger shoulder buttons and you can see the rumble feature as it works.

We have 2 afterglows and one official pad and i can honestly say i prefer the afterglow pad more, the battery is not quite 80 hours like the official pad though which is its only real con. In the UK its £20 cheaper than the official pad at Amazon, i'm sure its cheaper in other countries aswell.

Re: Poll: A Tale of Two Blockbusters as Mario Kart 8 and Watch Dogs Arrive This Week

Emblem

This is a Nintendo site and Ubisoft have arguably shafted Nintendo fans since launch so its pretty obvious what these polls will reflect.

I suggest anyone who wants Watchdogs on PC read the customer reviews first, AMD cards are having lots of issues and a few older Nvidia ones also. I believe the PS4 version is likely to be the best for whatever that's worth. Personally i'll be skipping this game and waiting for Farcry 4 as its the only Ubisoft series i like.

Re: Tecmo Koei Hopeful That Hyrule Warriors Will Tap Into Zelda Fanbase and Hit One Million Sales

Emblem

@Legodavid18 @Einherjar Totally agree, i'm an avid fan of Warriors and Armoured Core games, both are Japanese action games with niche game play and they are almost never reviewed favorably in the West dispite being critically acclaimed in Japan.

I also agree that if MK8 is getting so much flak i expect lots of critics and Zelda "fans" to hate this just for being what it is. I expect mixed reviews and lots of hate but i'm 99% sure ot'll be unfounded and i'll love it anyway.

@Peach64 Gundam has one of the largest fan bases though and Gundam Musou is multi-plat.

Re: Review: Scram Kitty and his Buddy on Rails (Wii U eShop)

Emblem

@unrandomsam "It seems many of the the things the reviewer thinks are negatives I see as positives.
No permanent upgrades
No tutorial
No farming for health (I would rather that be impossible the whole time)."

Exactly, why are these considered flaws in a semi-bullet hell shooter?

Also the devs have repeatedly stated this is a one screen game with the other being for audiences, this is further established by the fact you can switch or even turn off the second screen. Why would you try to use both and complain about them?

No mention of how it plays with the supported pro controller either?

Indication of lengh?

High scores?

No offensive but this review is on par with what i expect from a non -Jose IGN review. I don't care about scores, I read NL reviews because more often than not they are long and in depth.
