Re: Bayonetta 2 Listed for Summer Release in Japan

Emblem

@Daemonite Nintendo funded W101 and Bayo2 development, they partially own them, just like Sega own the platinum games they paid for and published.

@element187 Did Nintendo pay for exclusivity? Would Ubisoft not have had to pay for breech of contract in this case? I guess these deals are done discretely anyway so they may well have and we wouldnt know.

Re: Nintendo Reveals 'Mario Kart TV' Web App in Financial Results Briefing

Emblem

@Peach64 @DrSlump Someone will make an unoffical app a week or two after release trust me. Nintendo wants PS3/4, X360/1, wii, vita, with does mobile owners to be able to access it hence the web browser.

Making it an app would mean to reach these ppl Nintendo would have to ask Sony and MS if they can plug their products on their systems, thats not going to happen.

@Meaty-cheeky Financial report briefing, its when Nintendo outlines plans for the next financial year to reassure investors. After posting losses they have to spill a few secrets early so shareholders don't start dumping stock.

Re: Hyrule Warriors Set for Summer 2014 Release in Japan, Tecmo Koei Teases Another Major Collaboration

Emblem

@3MonthBeef They did show this last year, when they revealed it it was in early Alpha and no more than 6 months in development. If you follow the Warriors series you will be familiar with how the stages of development look. This game is not being made by Nintendo they are only advising and supervising the IP.

Zelda U has been in active dev since 2012, the average dev time for a Zelda game is 5 years but Nintendo said they wanted to reduce that with future installments. My guess is Its coming late 2015 and we will get a sequel within the following 2 years using the same engine and assets like what happened with OOT & MM.

Emblem

@shigulicious Don't forget Transformers, Train your Dragon 2 & One Piece releasing in June, Skylanders in October and Disney Infinity 2.0 in September. I won't list all the eshop games as their release dates are not very reliable.

I hope Hyrule Warriors comes out nowhere near Dragon Age I (Oct 10) or it'll have stay sealed until i've completed every path :/ (provided its not crap like DA2 was of course).

Re: Research Firm IDC Anticipates Worldwide Wii U Price Cut in Late 2014 to 2015, Increase in Retail Downloads

Emblem

@JaxonH Don't waste your time arguing on forums, you'll never win. I would say you are wrong about 1 thing though, casuals (minors or not) are the ones that buy the most consoles, this is why advertising is so important, "gamers" are constantly on the net actively looking for the next console or game so advertising is not as important as it is for the masses.

But who really cares, we're here for the games not the stats or the fan boy wars .

Re: Cult County Kickstarter Ends Without Success, Developer "Discussing Other Options"

Emblem

Kickstarter is all about having your backers have trust, faith and confidence in you and your project, this campaign did little to inspire any of these qualities for a number of reasons:

1. Apparent betrayal of 3DS owners who were not included in console options. These were the main people hyped about the game and at the last minute were told they weren't getting it. Only when the campaign was sure to fail did RK consider a 3DS version. 3DS owners are arguably RKs biggest market and most loyal fans, upsetting them was a big no no.

2. RK has 2 relatively hyped games soon to be released on 3DS (Tresurenaughts & Moon Chronicles), asking for half a million for a new project when people are waiting to see if your two next games are going to deliver is a bad idea. Also some would argue that the revenue from these two releases should be used to fund Cult County fully or at least partly.

3. There are a number of high and low profile horror games coming to home consoles in the next two years and compared to them the pitch for Cult Country didn't sound all that great or different. Even the over hyped Daylight recently failed to deliver so i fear a future pitch needs to be alot better.

4. Episodic format, this has yet to be proven on consoles. Telltale games and are the only successful ones that come to mind and the format is more interactive visual novel which is a perfect fit. No one wants to wait 6months-1yr to get the next episode of a horror-action-suspense game.

That said this would have been a day one purchase for me but from the start of the Kickstarter announcement i saw this failing for the reasons above.

Re: Nintendo Download: 1st May (Europe)

Emblem

@MouldyK If you have your NNID you can get your games and dlc back if you send the broken 3DS to Nintendo for repairs (cost varies) or as proof of destruction. However if you have seperate insurance then cart is the best option as you can get it replaced and sell it if you've already had your fill.

Re: Nintendo Is Shutting Down Its Taiwan Subsidiary

Emblem

People and the media need to stop with the Sony is bankrupt and Nintendo is doomed nonsense, these guys buy and sell assets all the time and as businesses they are constantly consolidating and expanding where necessary. Just enjoy the products and leave the business and analysis to the experts.

A logical observation would be that China's recently relaxing laws make Taiwan's office obsolete (unfortunately for staff there), not sure if you realize but Taiwan is less than 100 Miles to China.
