Re: Check Out This Gorgeous Metroid Prime Visual Feature

Dreamz

The Prime installments are my least favorite in the series. I really didn't like being in first person for that type of gameplay, and this was exacerbated by having to scan absolutely everything. The thing I liked most was the chozo lore throughout the first game, which, ironically, were gained mostly through scanning everything.

The less said about Echoes, the better.

@Chubblings
It's a problem that's been creeping up on the industry for awhile now. The crux of the issue is that game development costs are too high. It's probably going to take another industry crash to bring them back down again.

Child of Light is my favorite game for my Wii U so far, and it was $15. If bringing prices down means we shift to smaller scale games like Child of Light (it was significantly shorter than your average RPG), I'm all for it.

The distribution channels for games and movies are very mature. Transportation, packaging, etc are all a tiny fraction of the overall costs due to the volume moved. I'd be very surprised if totaled more than $1 per unit. Take a look at the massive credit list on any given game - that's where the real cost lies.

I agree with @HaThready that games are simply more expensive than they should be. That's for all systems, not just the Wii U. In my mind, $25-$30 is the sweet spot for a Wii U game. The only games that I think can justify the $50 price range are games like epic RPGs or Oblivion/Skyrim that have an obscene amount of game to play.

You could always do what I'm going to. I plan to buy the Wii U version on launch day, then later buy the PS deluxe edition once it pops up on Amazon and give the extra code to my sister.

Re: NPD Results Bring Solid 3DS Numbers as Wii U Struggles

Dreamz

Honestly, I'm so sick of hearing about how the U and 3DS aren't selling. You know what's no selling? The PSP and Vita.

I'm not trying to big friends with the popular kid on the block. I want to play games. The U has plenty of good ones so far, and more are on the way. No amount of sales figures are going to change that.

Nintendo isn't anywhere near dying at this point. Even if the current underwhelming sales were to suddenly implode and die, that would still be the case. If the U doesn't turn around, that's fine. Nintendo can always wait until the next generation to turn it around.

Either way, I'm just sick of hearing about it.

Re: Nintendo Involved In Patent Dispute Over Wii U's Dual Screen Capabilities

@Gladius_X

It's not quite that broad. The patent basically describes a device that sends a video stream to multiple outputs; it works off of a single input stream, but can stream to different timings to the various outputs. Which is entirely different from the Wii U, since with the Wii U both screens are handled independently.

Re: Nintendo Involved In Patent Dispute Over Wii U's Dual Screen Capabilities

Read the abstract. The Wii U's implementation is nothing at all like the method described by the patent. It doesn't make it any less annoying that Nintendo has to deal with it however.

I really wish US patent law would catch up to the 21st century. Specifically, I would like to see them implement damages for obviously malicious litigation like this.
