Re: Video: This Child of Light Trailer Takes You Through The Beautiful World of Lemuria

Dreamz

@Bassman_Q
Unfortunately, there aren't any physical editions. You have the deluxe edition, that includes an artbook, keychain, and other goodies, but it has a code for the digital edition, not a disc. And the deluxe edition is only available in Europe, the Middle East, and Africa, and then only for PS3/4 and PC. No Wii U version.
.
I would have ordered the deluxe edition myself if not for all of the above. As it stands, I'll just have to settle for the eShop download on launch day.

Re: Microsoft's Ken Lobb: Metroid Prime Wouldn't Have Been Made If Nintendo Had Listened To The Fans

Dreamz

@dizzy_boy
I'm in agreement with Ken. Players suffer from extreme tunnel vision. They think that what they like is what everyone will like, which as we all know simply isn't true. And at the end of the day, a player is just a person with an opinion and the potential to buy your product. They generally don't have a clue about how software development works, and game theory is classified in the same box to them as rocket science.
.
While they should keep an ear to their players to make sure they understand what the player wants. In the case of Metroid, it was more the gameplay style and not just the 2D platforming style (even though that was important, too).

Re: Ubisoft and EA Lock In Their E3 Presentation Details

Dreamz

@XCWarrior
Because the 3DS is where it needs to be as a platform; it's doing fine, and will continue to do fine. But people want to see the same for the Wii U. Success means more 3rd party support, more games, more development resources, and that's a win for all Nintendo fans. It also benefits 3DS owners, since developers who are developing for the Wii U are also more likely to port a similar game to the 3DS.

Re: Ubisoft and EA Lock In Their E3 Presentation Details

Dreamz

Hasn't EA already said previously that they have no titles currently in development for the U?

For me, personally, I'm just hoping that ZombiU sees some love, preferably in the form of a sequel. I know they said last year that it wasn't planned since it was unprofitable, but since they already have the engine and infrastructure in place, not to mention plenty of pre-built assets, so you would think a sequel would be much cheaper...

Re: Video: Experience The Acute Embarrassment Of Owning A Physical Copy of Senran Kagura Burst

Dreamz

While I have no plans to grab the game myself, I personally found the videos pretty hilarious. I think the marketing for the game is actually pretty genius - overstating its scandalous-ness with some humor thrown in. It shows that they're perfectly aware of the game's nature and aren't ashamed to flaunt it, something I find quite refreshing compared to the puritanical uptightness that permeates American society.

Re: Review: ZombiU (Wii U)

Dreamz

@FireHorsePrime
If you'll read the comments above you, you'll find that your experience is the exception, not the norm. I didn't find anything dumbed down about the game, nor have I ran into any game breaking bugs. The statement "Zombie U could have been done much cheaper in 2D on a mobile device and called "Bash the Zombies", because that's all it is," is probably the most glaring piece of hyperbole; I have trouble taking the rest of your post seriously after that.

Re: Preview: Mario Kart 8

Dreamz

@Emblem It's likely 16 tracks and 16 inverted versions of these tracks, which doesn't count in my book.

What I'm curious to see is if they'll take a step and release a DLC with additional tracks, sort of like they did with New Super Luigi U.

Re: The Next Batman Game Is Arkham Knight, And No, There Won't Be A Wii U Version

Dreamz

A game I wouldn't have purchased anyways not coming to the Wii U? Sadface.

More seriously though....I really hope that MK8, Smash U, and Bayonetta2 bury sales records. It would give developers who abandoned the platform prematurely the figurative finger and hopefully attract some 3rd party support from developers who aren't spewing sequels out their orifices like a rogue sprinkler system.

@Gma-X Nintendo has the right of it, I think, their approach just needs work. You don't need top of the line graphics. Modest improvements are perfectly fine. Price points and the games themselves are the more important factors. The U has the games, just not enough of them. Likewise, it has a good price point, just not as good as it should be.

The choice was between Bayonetta for only the Wii U or no Bayonetta at all. While obviously I'm biased since I have a U, I would think the former is still better no matter what.

Re: Super Mario Bros. 3 Is Warping To North American Virtual Consoles On April 17th

Dreamz

I'm much more excited for the Metroid Fusion and F-Zero releases. In my personal opinion SMB3 is quite possibly the most overrated video game of all time - it's my least favorite Mario game on the NES.

I do agree that the price point for the GBA releases was a bit meh. Only $1 less than SNES games? I think they should have been the same price as NES games.

Re: New Child of Light Trailer Shows Off Co-Op Mode

Dreamz

@PvtOttobot
Like Man1ac said, since it's eShop, publishing costs are greatly reduced, so it doesn't need to sell a massive amount to be successful. I'm just overjoyed to see this coming to the U. A unique turn-based RPG with gorgeous watercolor artwork that forms the world? I couldn't ask for more.

On topic, I think the co-op is a 'nice to have' feature. It's fantastic to have no matter what.

Re: Child of Light

Dreamz

Looking forward to trying this. Does anyone know if this game will have a box release, or is it eShop only?

Nevermind, looks like it's eShop only. Less than two weeks to go!

Re: The Girl and the Robot

Dreamz

I saw the trailer for this a few days ago and it looks rather promising, with what looks like a solid gameplay foundation and nice art direction. I'll definitely give the game a shot when it releases, assuming the price point is right.

Re: Weirdness: Square Enix Reproduces Deadly Final Fantasy XIV Boss in 16-Bit Style

Dreamz

While I love old school stuff, that should be the realm of the Virtual Console, not current releases. I would go so far as to say that nostalgia is overused in the current Nintendo lineup - the vast majority of the current Wii U lineup consists of games from the bread and butter franchises from Nintendo.

While I love Mario and Zelda games as much as the next person, variety is the spice of life and I think that's one reason (among many) that the Wii U is under-performing at the moment. Mario Platformer #1273178 is great, but what would really help is more original stuff.

Wonderful 101 and Bayonetta2 are both steps in this direction, but there's so much untapped potential at the moment. For example, why, WHY do we not a guitar-hero style game that uses the controller screen as a virtual guitar face?

But that's a bit of a tangent. What I'm trying to say is that while the 16-bit era had some amazing games, our current hardware has far more potential if utilized properly. And given their last several offerings, I don't really trust SE to deliver anything amazing, regardless of how many bits they're using.

Re: Weirdness: The Legend of Zelda's Master Sword Appears to be in PS4-Exclusive inFAMOUS: Second Son

Dreamz

@Clockwerk I thought the same thing at first glance, but after pulling up some reference images, I can see the resemblance. It's not modeled after the Master Sword so much as its design simply has elements and references to the blade in question. Features of note are the shape of the base of the blade and the guard - both are not exact copies, but are definitely close enough in style to draw the connection.

Re: Talking Point: Nintendo's Major Wii U Retail Titles Can Benefit From More eShop Trials and Demos

Dreamz

@tom_q A very valid point. There's not just a demo draught, there's a lack of games in general for the U - full games, demos, and VC titles are all absent compared to the vast library that the Wii has.

Maybe it's just a complete failure in market savvy. I can't be the only person who would happily dish out cash for HD version of my favorite Wii titles (I'm looking at you, Other M and Skyward Sword). WindWaker HD's success should be practically beating them over the skull with a giant club that says "Helllloooooo! Giant money pile here, please retrieve!"

I've adored Nintendo since I was a child, but at times like this it really does seem like they simply don't want to make money, for reasons I can't really fathom.

Re: Talking Point: Super Metroid's 20th Anniversary Reminds Us Of What We Are Missing

Dreamz

@Kirk I completely agree. Other M is my second favorite entry in the series, second only to Super Metroid. The Prime Trilogy was fun, but it honestly felt less like Metroid to me than Other M.

My only complaints about Other M were the over-reliance on Sense-Dodging mechanics and the cumbersome shifting between 1st and 3rd person modes.

Unlike many die hard fans, I really, really enjoyed the story of Other M, and feel that an unfair portion of the derision towards it is from players who were expecting an unflappable, balls of steel heroine like Lightning from Final Fantasy or Laura Croft of old but instead were given a heroine with more depth and nuance like the new Laura Craft reboot, or perhaps Terra/Tina Branford from the Final Fantasy series. And it's a very good move, in my opinion. Unflappable heroes are boring.

What I'd really love to see is a post-Fusion entry in the series in the style of Other M.
