Re: Round Up: First "Hands-On" Impressions Of Valve's Steam Deck - How Does It Compare To Switch?

Dragonstar

can't wait to retire my Switch as my portable game system. I've already stopped buying any games for it. This system has so much potential for me. A game library that, no exaggeration, is probably several thousand times larger than the Switch. So many great AAA and indie games now to play with that I couldn't get on the Switch. Reserved mine on day 1, hopefully will get it this December.

Re: Valve Responds To 'Switch Vs Steam Deck' Comparisons, Insists It's "Going After" A Different Audience

Dragonstar

I can't wait for the Steam Deck. I've played literally thousands of hours on my Switch, but I'm ready to retire it as my portable gaming system. I'm sick of the vast majority of the games I'm interested in, not being released on the Switch. It's an underpowered system, that still primarily is for the "pokemon" family friendly crowd. Nintendo makes some good first party games, but the vast majority of AAA games being released skip the Switch. Where's RDR2? Where's Cyberpunk? Where's even GTA5? Assassin's Creed series? Call of Duty? Star Wars Jedi Fallen Order? Destiny? Dark Souls 2 or 3? Sekiro? NieR Automata? Resident Evil remakes? Mass Effect series? Watch Dogs Legion? Not on the Switch. The list is practically endless. Might be able to run Yuzu (Switch emulator) on this system, so you could play Switch games on the Steam Deck anyways.

Re: Valve's Steam Deck Might Be The Closest We'll Get To A Switch Pro In 2021

Dragonstar

Yep I'll be buying this instead of the Switch OLED. I'm tired of the Switch having a very limited library (for my interest at least, it's still mostly teenager/kid stuff, I"m a male in my 40s), and seeing most of the games I want to play portably on PC or other systems. I'm also EXTREMELY annoyed at Nintendo and the Switch for how the system is failing lately. The drift I have been dealing with for a few years now, I was buying replacement joy-sticks in bulk, but now the right joy-con, even when attached keeps disconnecting every few minutes. I refuse to spend $100 (CAD) on more joy-cons to fix this. I prefer playing video games portably for my lifestyle, and this looks to me as exactly what I want.

Re: Nintendo Fears A Popular ROM Website Could Make A Comeback

Dragonstar

As someone who has modded, and pirated games for most if not all systems I have ever owned, trust me, you will ALWAYS be able to find roms for the games you want. Sometimes it's just a bit more work, but they are always out there for a person determined enough. Nintendo makes enough money, I have no sympathy for a company like this who doesn't make it easy for people to legitimately purchase their older games anymore.

Re: Doug Bowser Responds To Reports About "Upgraded Switch Replacement" (Again)

Dragonstar

2 things for me. If they haven't fixed the joy-con drift issue, it's a no buy for me. Also, if they are manufactured in China, after the last year has shown the world, I'm gonna have to think long and hard if I want to support this with my wallet. I am trying my best to boycott anything made in that country. The CCP is NOT the western world's friend.

Re: Talking Point: E3 Leaks Are Inevitable, But Do You Actually Want To Know?

Dragonstar

People are such babies when it comes to "spoilers" and "leaks" now a days. If you want to be surprised, don't go reading websites where their role is to give information to consumers. The onus is on you to keep yourself in a bubble until it's revealed to you in the manner you desire, not on me, websites or anywhere else to hide it for your enjoyment. I read every spoiler, ever leak, every bit of backstage info I can on movies, games, pro-wrestling, you name it.

Re: Nintendo Wins $2.1 Million In Lawsuit Against ROM Website

Dragonstar

Good god people.. just use torrents, you can get the entire library easily and quickly. And no company can take torrents down, no matter how hard they try. You can find the entire 100% library of every NES, SNES, N64 game out there, easily and quickly. Using websites is kinda dumb, of course greedy Nintendo will take them down. Then offer no way of buying said games legally, because... Nintendo.

Re: Rumour: Nintendo Switch 'Pro' Reveal Expected Before E3, Out This Year

Dragonstar

I am so turned off by the current switch with never ending joy-con drift problems I have, regardless of replacing the sticks, the drift comes back 4-6 months again, and now the joy-cons disconnecting, even when physically attached, loose connection to the system, and I am keep having to reattach while playing portably. This is by far the most unreliable system Nintendo has produced and I'm VERY hesitant on buying an "upgrade" unless these problems are addressed. Also, I'm tired of seeing most of the AAA games I'm interested in, skip the Nintendo Switch due to it being technically underpowered.

Re: Ni No Kuni II: Revenant Kingdom Is Coming To Switch

Dragonstar

I wanted to enjoy the first one, I really did. I adore Studio Ghibli movies and characters. However the familiars aspect of the combat turned me off so much. I'm an older gamer, I despise all things Pokemon/pet related. So I gave up and got rid of the game after about 10-15 hours. I'll keep my eye out on this one to see if this combat system is the same, if not. Oh well, guess I'll just watch a Youtube with all cutscenes/story like I did the first one.

Re: Review: Indivisible - An Enjoyable And Beautiful RPG Hybrid With A Few Rough Edges

Dragonstar

7 is too high. I spent a good 7-8 hours into the game, then came to the realization I wasn't enjoying myself anymore. The platforming is just meh, the combat is a cool design, but there is so much missing, it feels like the game needed more time in development. There is zero gear, no money, no shops, no explanation to leveling up. I just returned the game for a refund, not worth the time once you get past the pretty graphics.

Re: Talking Point: What We're Hoping To See In Today's Nintendo Direct

Dragonstar

I don't understand at all how anyone honestly expects or even wants Mario Kart 9. They only released the last one (on Switch at least) a couple of years ago. Nintendo doesn't release games in that series as often as that. And it's usually only 1 release per system (1 for SNES, 1 for N64, 1 for GC, 1 for Wii, 1 for 3DS, 1 for Wii U, etc)

Re: Nintendo Is Facing Another Class Action Lawsuit For Joy-Con Drift

Dragonstar

With some patience, and watching a few DIY videos on Youtube, you can actually take apart the joy-con, disassemble the drifting control stick, clean it, and problem fixed. Just did one of mine a few days ago again actually. It works like brand new. You can also just order a new control stick for like $3-4, that works too. But it is possible to clean them without costing you anything.

Re: NPD: Switch Sold More Units In Q3 2020 Than Any Platform Since The DS In Q3 2009 (US)

Dragonstar

I love my Switch, I really do. However until Nintendo gets their system to be competitive specs wise, it's always going to be skipped on most of the triple A games from publishers. I'm so tired of seeing all the new triple A games announced, and 95% of the time they don't get released on a Nintendo platform. I would love to play a modern Assassin's Creed, Red Dead Redemption 2, Final Fantasy VII Remake, Battlefield, CoD, the list goes on and on and on. We can't even get GTA 5 on the system. The vast majority of the games I play on the Switch are either Nintendo developed games, or indie games. Sure there are a lot more 3rd party developed games making their way to the system. But most modern triple A developed games, always skip the Nintendo platforms.

Re: Dead Cells' Free Barrels o' Fun Update Is Now Live On Nintendo Switch

Dragonstar

@OorWullie Enter the Gungeon is worth it... if you are willing to put the time into it. I have put close to 500 hours into that game. It'll take a pretty long time until you can beat it for the first time, let alone unlock the hidden bosses/zones. You'll get better, it's a HARD game. I still haven't unlocked one of the guns yet, Rubenstein's Monster is just RNG luck.

Re: Switch Owner Claims To Have Taken Nintendo To Court Over Joy-Con Drift, And Won

Dragonstar

@Moshugan I do understand, that it's not great business to have an issue like this with their product. HOWEVER things like this happen all the time with companies in all industries. To get so upset like I see people here, and the hyperbole thrown around for something that can VERY easily be fixed by yourself at home for just a couple of bucks is very indicative of where I see society is today. People feel entitled to everything, somehow feel just because they bought something, they are entitled to a lifetime of the company/government bending over backwards for them. Mine started drifting after maybe a year and a half. I wasn't happy, but I did some research, and learned how to fix it myself. It sure felt good afterwards, knowing that if it ever happens again (it has, multiple times per side) I can easily fix it myself now.

Re: Switch Owner Claims To Have Taken Nintendo To Court Over Joy-Con Drift, And Won

Dragonstar

All that hassle to go through, and all you have to do is purchase a replacement joycon stick through Ebay/AliExpress/Amazon and do the simple replacement yourself. For under $5. It's actually very easy to do, once you've done it once. I agree, it's bad design on Nintendo's part, but at what point do you value your own time more?

People need to stop being self-entitled to things in life, learn how to fix things. Crap breaks, it's very empowering to learn how to fix things yourself.

Re: Still Not Convinced On Paper Mario: The Origami King? This Accolades Trailer Might Do The Trick

Dragonstar

If you don't like puzzles in your games, stay far away from this game. The combat system, while innovative at least, is not for me. Only the boss battles I looked forward to. Once I realized how pointless the regular enemy battles were, I just avoided any battles I could. And when I did have to play them, I just spend the 999 coins every fight to let the toads do the work to get them over with ASAP. While the production values were high, and I enjoyed the puns and writing, the battle system, and some of the latter puzzle solving really turned me off the game.

Re: Ninja Thinks Pro Players And Streamers Who Cheat Should Be Treated Differently

Dragonstar

Boo hoo, go and get a real job. Sorry but streaming yourself sitting in a chair, playing video games is not a job. I've heard every single argument for it, so don't even try to argue it is. I've watched some Twitch streams, sure it's mindless entertainment I guess? But to give money to them? HELL NO. I've sat there watched some streams, and counted the money they get in 10 minutes, and for most people, who have to go and work for a living, they wouldn't even get that in an entire day. And these people get it by just being a bum playing video games, and acting like an idiot in most cases.
