With the upcoming European release of WayForward's WiiWare title LIT, we thought it might be time to show off a few of the PAL exclusive screenshots of the game - two in particular that show off one of the main changes fans of the game have been clamoring for since the US release.
As you can see in the screenshots below, you can now use the flashlight while standing next to an item, something that couldn't be accomplished in the US release of LIT.
We're currently working with WayForward on a special three-part feature that will take an inside look at the entire development cycle of LIT from start to finish. Part one will kick off early next week. And if you still haven't checked out our WayForward Interview from last month, now's a good time to give it a look in preparation for the upcoming PAL LIT release.

Hmm... I suppose this will be easier to an extent, but I'm sure there are players who want to have the challenge of using the "A" button correctly like in the NA version. (It could get a tad difficult with the third boss pressing the "A" button at the wrong time or area.) Although, I suppose there will still be gamers who want to play a version where turning on a lamp won't be accidental when using the flashlight. All in all, it's a good game, and it's still hard in the extra mode. (Trying not to spoil anything.)
PAL and improved in the one sentence!?
The world has changed a lot over the years.
Actually, PAL has always been superior to the NTSC format. It's just that the games have sometimes suffered when converted to PAL format because developer haven't bothered to adjust the game to better fit the PAL specs...
@ Djungel
PAL60 is (not noticeably) better than NTSC, but when we finally got it NTSC games were 480p. Oh, and don't forget Final Fantasy X.
I don't think people will miss the challenge of broken controls...
@KDR_11k True. But I'm satisfied with the version NA already has. A little irking at times because of the whole flashlight/lamp deal, but still enjoyable when you finally figure out that one frustrating puzzle...then meet a new one seconds later. ^^
Regardless, I'm glad Europe's going to finally get this game.
I'm looking forward to Lit being released here in the UK. I'm also looking forward to a few other games for the Wii and finally, we can pre-order Professor Layton's 2nd DS game.
Y'know, I don't think anybody ever answered my question about whether or not we might expect the NTSC version of this game to be patched.
Also, @ Kim Jong-II: Lufia II. 'Nuff said.
@Stuffgamer1 - The last I heard NoA won't let these kind of updates be rolled out, unless it is a bug fix. I doubt NTSC-U gamers will get the revised PAL version, which will be a shame!
I wonder if they could update the American game with the same improvements? The beauty of downloadable games is that its easily done and customers who already downloaded the game can just download the improved version.
Ooh, I see a patch in order for the US version...
Similar to luigi's mansion?
@ Mickeia
What happened to Weegee's Mansion? Wiki doesn't mention anything.
@ Stuffgamer
Sonic the Hedgehog. Need we start this endless discussion of bugfixes vs. PAL issues?
Are you guys going to re-review it for the PAL version? Because these changes sound like they may improve the score..?
Hmmm, they might just do so. However, I still don't think I'll be getting it. Not to say it isn't a great game though
I think I will buy LIT. It got positive reviews first time round, so with improvements, it definitely looks like it will be worth it.
Did the US version of Bit.Trip Beat ever get fixed? That bug which meant you couldn't save unless you got a high score?
@Homer Simpson - We're not going to review LIT again, but we might add a note to the end of the review to explain the tweaks.
Is it just me, or does anybody else have the suspiscion that these 'improved' controls will end up with the EU release being prced a few points higher?
I died a few times turning off lamps when I meant to use the flashlight, interesting tweak.
I'm down, when's it coming?
I sure hope they fixed a lot with this game. The controls are pretty bad, especially the cherry bomb. I am at the final boss now, but because the cherry bomb never responds correctly, it is impossible for me to beat it.
This really, really annoys me. I even got all the phone calls, so I'd be set to unlock everything if they'd just make the controls work.
I'd love to play it again using the unlockable features, but at this point it is physically impossible to do so. Every time I try to throw the third cherry bomb, it does nothing.
Any word on if they'll release a patch for American LIT owners?
I'm waiting for this since the announcement. Please release it soon. Please.
