Re: Soapbox: In Defence Of Balan Wonderworld, 'The Worst Game Of 2021'

Dilly-Mick

Is this a deliborate parody of the dumb comments we post defendivng undenyably bad decions by gamedevs?

In all the baflan wonderkand reviews,I have heard nothing of this "fading dancer" and you make it sound like it's the biggest offender of review-bombing.

Jusft because a specific gameplay element has precedent in other franchises' does not mean it was implemented as well in this one, or even that adding it at all was a good idea for everry game

Re: Niantic Shares Staggering Stats For A Year In Pokémon GO And Pikmin Bloom

Dilly-Mick

On a less nintendo-y note I've been really impressed with Niantic lately. Eespecially when you take the stats for niantics other games, into account (though, to be fair, there's a lot of overlap especially in steps/distance related goals) as well as their lightship platform, developer initiatives, Qualcomm snapdragon AR bluueprint, and "dozens" of games in the pipeline.

Compare side by side with bigger ccompanies like Meta and there's no contest where my vote for the future of "the metaverse" lies.

Re: Nintendo Minute's Kit And Krysta Say Goodbye In Their "Final Episode"

Dilly-Mick

On one hand I'm impressed this little show lasted 8 years, and the rattional part of me knows it wasnt going to last forever.

On the other hand, I'm going to be very disapointed if nintendo discontinues it's lowkey entertainment entirely. It doesn't even need to be a new series per-se just something interesting that isn't a trailer or a direct every couple months.

Re: Hacker Group Not Happy About Nintendo's "Censorship" And "Legal Scare Tactics"

Dilly-Mick

copyright laws literally say that owners of teh IP can control the copying and distribution of their work. nintendo is in their legal right to ban the manufacuting of "backup cartraiges" especially when we all know what people are really doing with the backups.

for those who are saying it's unethical. these people are shamelessly "stealing" profits from nitnendo.

Re: You Can Play Super Mario 64 In Your Browser

I'm honestly sad how no one understands how copyright laws work/ have worked in the past.

it is completely possible to own an idea. that is the point of copyright. I have an idea and my friend rips it of and goes on to make millions I would expect them to pay me royalties for the money he made, copying my idea

to my knowlege, there has never been a copyright law for when the creator dies, if the copyright has not expired, the cpyright goes to the creator's estate.

a company can own intelectual property just as much as they can own any property.

different countries have different copyright laws, most set the bar at either 50 or 75 years. 22 years ago the US set a precident raising the term to 95 years.

in many countries, you can renew intelectual property by making new content that includes the IP. however the original content will enter the public domain at the specified time. (eg plane crazy, the first ever Mickey mouse cartoon will enter the public domain janurary 1st 2024 However the rights to use mickey mouse in content unrelated to plane crazy will not. likewise, you won't be able to use someone else's version of plane crazy until that version goes into the public domain. this is why disney can copyright their version of fairy tales even though the stories themselves are in the public domain)

once in the public domain it can be referenced parodied or recreated by anyone at any time without paying royalties for licencing. until then it is actually illegal to play copy or distribute content or derivative works without first recieving written concent (covered in the terms of agreeement you didn't read)

@victordamazio to legally play that song you do have to buy a licence to use it. (which is either covered by the terms you agreed to or by the purchace of the CD) making and distributing copies without the creators written concent is illegal.

Re: Pokémon GO Creator's AR Platform Is Now Being Used To Hunt Bitcoin, Not Pocket Monsters

Dilly-Mick

When niantic made it's platform availible to the public it's only natural that the first products to get news coverage are trendy crypto developers who think flashing techno lights and memes are considered a brand identity.

They got free publicity out of this for minimal efffort and their get-rich-quick side-hustle lives annother day. I doubt these are the apps Niantic envisioned but I'm not surprised they're the first headliners.

Give it a year and we'll see what lightship can really do. While these crypto apps fade into obscurity.

@Greatluigi

1 i'm not asking for a battle frontier in every game but i would enjoy more post-game content

2. What sources are you using to say gens 6-8 outsold gen 4? Of you don't count remakes or further versions DP out sold XY and SM if you count further verstions DPPt sold about on par with USUM and higher than any pokemon game without further versions. Not to mention HGSS are the best selling pokémon remakes of all time. In total, Gen 4 is only eclipsed by Gen one in total, sales across all it's releases. (Though gen 8 is in the market to upend that title with LA on the horizon and indisclosed DLC sales)
