Re: Pokémon Legends: Arceus Has Sold Over 12 Million Units Globally

I would also like to point out gen 8's cumulative core-series sales (SwSh+BDSP+LA) add up to roughly 50 million sales not counting DLC sales. finally dethroaning gen 1 (RGBY) as the best selling generation ever.

Now the obvious caveat is that gen 8 released three entirely different games while gen 1 only had version differences.

On the other hand SwSh and BDSP alone now account for 38 mil which is still greater than gen 1's 36 mil and even the runaway sucess wich was the HGSS remake wasn't enough to bump the already popular Gen 4 past gen 1's record.

This game is still recieving support, and still bringing in new and returning fans alike. Not to mention it hasn't had a holiday bump yet. I really hope gamefreak continues to support the gane with more DLC, like thebdaybreak expansion as this would help keep momentum going. (Somebody tell me what that empty plot of land in NorthEast jubilife is for please.)

The only thing that could bar it from top ten is if people wait too long and decide to save their money for scarlet and violet insted (in my opinion I think legends will still be the best experience for your money. But it's too soon to say)

Re: Poll: Does Pokémon Scarlet And Violet Debunk A Fire Starter Fan Theory?

Dilly-Mick

One thing I don't see people talking about is that the theory is inconsistant regarding which evolutionary stage it referrs to: litten and charmander aren't dragons or tigers but typlosion isn't a rodent.

Morover, the "extinct" theory and "weapon" theory are hardly analogous. Nearly every genus of animal has an extinct species (and bulbasaur is a frog not a dinosaur) and some of the weapons are pretty niche... I mean sonic warfare? Really?

Re: Sword & Shield Becomes Second Best-Selling Pokémon Game Of All Time

Dilly-Mick

Do you think Sword and Shield have any chance of topping the list one day?

What kind of question is that? There is no possible way SwSh will maintain the momentum for annother 9 million sales.

That's not to say I think RGB will hold their title much longer. Total sales of generation 8 titles (SwSh, BDSP, and LA) could easily surpass gen 1 (RGBY) and I would not be surprised if in the next 5 years, or less, RGB will get dethroned, if not by Arceus than by gen 9.

Re: Don't Say It Too Loud, But PS5 Has Outsold Wii U In A Year

Dilly-Mick

@Arisen I don't know what official person decided that; but I don't agree with them. if the U was a 8th gen console and the switch came out 4.5 years later... that sounds like a follow-up/new generation to me

Besides, if the Switch lasts 7-10 years as Nintendo hoped, it would exist for the entirety of the 9th generation console cycle.

Either way, I can compare sales between the switch and irish potatoes if I want to.
