The highly praised indie hit Dead Cells will be receiving more downloadable content, according to its developer Motion Twin. On 11th February, "The Bad Seed" DLC will be released for $4.99.
Here are the details:
Explore a relaxing Arboretum, wade through a noxious Swamp, and take on a new boss in this new early game content designed to expand the Dead Cells universe and add variety to runs for people who want to support the development of the game.
The two new levels and their monsters are alternatives to The Courtyard / Toxic Sewers and The Ramparts / Ossuary / Ancient Sewers, with the boss designed to be on par with The Concierge, so hopefully it’ll spice up your early game runs once you’ve played through the core game.
As highlighted by Games Radar, Motion Twin says this DLC has been designed to help support the continued development of the game. It also means the French company will be able to continue to expand it, and ensures the team has "the time they need" to create their next game.

Can't wait for this! But is it really coming to the Switch on the same day as the PC? I was expecting the console versions to come later, so this is great news if so!
I still haven’t finished the core game, lol. Will still get this regardless. Great game, and will support the dev further.
@Ooyah Motion Twin says "PC & Consoles" over on Twitter.
Glad it's early game cause I suuuuck.
There are many side scrolling hack and slash games, but ya know I haven't seen many with the idea of running from enemies and using traps. What a good idea, surprised I've not seen more of that.
@Liam_Doolan
I wasn't questioning, by the way... I was just so surprised! 😆 With something like The Binding Of Isaac, it sometimes took months to get the extra stuff. Thanks for the confirmation, though!
One of my favorite games. I have never finished a run, but I'll buy this anyway. These guys deserve the money.
@Dm9982
I just made it to 3 boss cells after 200 hours... doubt if I will ever finish it! Where are you up to?
I hear a lot of players fall at the bosses, and they feel too demoralized to continue. Here's a tip on how to get better: save scum to practice. The game now gives you multiple save slots, just quit to the main menu before a boss, and copy your save to another slot. Keep replaying that save until you learn all of the boss's moves and how to counter them. This really helped me improve by a lot.
So wait, do we need to have finished the game in order to gain access to these new levels??! I want to purchase the DLC, but as much as I love the game, I doubt I’ll ever be able to finish it!
I've put around 80 hours into this game. I will gladly give them another $5 to grind out some more time with it.
@Ooyah I’m not far into it, maybe 15-20 hours, and I haven’t even hit a first boss if I recall. Wish I could remember what the last area was I made it to, but haven’t played since Sword/Shield released. Time to get back into it thou!
Take my money now. Love this game..
Shoot. I'd be happy to shoot em a fiver, without more content. Their support has been fantastic. Very excited for this.
You thought it was over? But it keeps on coming.
Got it on release, but was playing something else, let my friend borrow it, he is still playing it, will get around to it someday
When people say they are struggling to finish the game do they mean get to the credits? I've done that but I'm having issues finding the extra stuff. I'm reluctant to Google it.
I've never played a game in my life where i've been so excited to die and start over again. I struggled my way through to one glorious victory, but now 1BC seems 5 times harder, i love the game but i give up.
I've only just finished this one and it is a glorious game.
Will definitely but the dlc.
Got it on release day on switch. Got 3 boss cells and well over a hundred hours in. Also put another 70 hours in on xbox when it was on game pass. So I've got money waiting for more content.
Great news, I'll have to come back to this one. Glad to support devs like Motion Twin!
Haven't played this in a long time. Might be a good time to get back into it. I definitely feel like giving them some more support for their work. The game was a steal as it is.
@Ooyah Bugs have been all worked out so I would imagine any future content is a lot easier to add now with less work involved.
