Re: Review: Super Mario Bros. Deluxe (3DS eShop)

Dave24

It's not so bad with SMB, but it gets a turn for worse with SMB2 - not only cheap, but smaller screen doesn't make it easier.

I've got it as freebie, and I'm glad I did. Otherwise, in my opinion, it's not worth the money, although the controls doesn't feel as floaty as in SMB3 or SMB2 US on 3DS.

As reviewer said it, if you want SMB, you are better off with NES version

Re: Super Mario Hopping Into McDonald's Happy Meals in the UK

Dave24

It was like 4 months ago in that country in Europe in which Nintendo is not know and doesn't exist and there are no games, only polar bears walking on the streets etc. I have them all, except rumored DK.

The mushroom and Mario with coin suprised me the most - I though it would be just piece of plastic, instead mushroom makes the classic sound and the coin in made from magnet or something

Re: Nintendo Was Dead To Us Very Quickly, States EA Source

Dave24

Sooo Sims is for mature audiences only? And you're telling me that there are no kids playing BF4 and FIFA, that's just dudes with drinking problems with their shrinking voices calling you, because they suck.

When you release only 3rd entry of the game for a price of a trilogy for other platforms nearly year later and you still didn't fix it, because there are framerate drops, then there is something very wrong with your thinking. It's all about marketing and, you know, effort. It doesn't matter how "old" the game is

Re: Review: Knytt Underground (Wii U eShop)

Dave24

I thank God that I bought it for 6 dollars + other games with it, because I would regret buying it for full price. It's not a bad game, but characters can be annoying and at times controls are unresponsive.

Re: Talking Point: Is The Castlevania Series Finished With Nintendo?

Dave24

I don't see Castlevania future with Nintendo - Mirror of Fate was mediocre game with really weak puzzles. Like @El_Scorpio said, it is GoW 2.5D and sadly not as good.

But I really like LoS - finally Castlevania game that I can enjoy, although it could've been little better of course, because the bugs are annoying. Can't wait for LoS2 - I hope it will be better than the first, but I would be even happy if it was on par.

Re: Tech Site The Verge Thinks The Wii U's Failure Won't Change Nintendo

Dave24

"And the Wii U may even make sense as an alternate system for those who want to play Mario Kart in HD as a palate cleanser between rounds of Battlefield."
Haha, good one... They should say "plate cleanser between crashes in Battlefield" - now that would be closer to reality.
Still, Wii U had best games this year

Re: Mighty No. 9 Studio Comcept Facing Fan Backlash Over Community Manager Appointment

Dave24

She said "make Beck a female bot alltogether. It shouldn't and won't affect the gameplay". My question is this - why not leave it as male character if it won't and shouldn't affect the gameplay? Just for the sake of "allmightieth woman" is not an argument. That looks pretty stupid.
I personally am against women in video games - and that's because writers rarely "do them right". I mean, Bioshock Infinite was so atrocious with Elizabeth I am simply amazed that nobody said that it depicts women as clueless and stupid, and the only thing they have in their heads is dancing and Paris.
Female character for the sake of being female is kinda pointless in my opinion.

Re: Mighty No. 9 Studio Comcept Facing Fan Backlash Over Community Manager Appointment

Dave24

That picture - what for the love of God is that thing? It looks hideous, and I wouldn't be surprised if it would turn out that it was on drugs too.

I can understand Jay Grab point of view, though - I mean, when they say "team of veterans", I would expect too, people who actually KNOW on what they are working on and what they want to try to emulate, not some rookie who never touched upon MM in whole life. And shoehorning anyones political agenda anywhere they can is never good. This is good example of that. It only brought pointless storm

Re: Digital Foundry Heaps Praise on Super Mario 3D World

Dave24

@URAmk2 thanks for the info about installing to HDD - I wasn't actually aware that it actually gets whole data from disc to HDD. Now at least I know it second hand.
@FutureAlphaMale you know, I could go with whole file. Now I was actually curious about graphics and watched few gameplays and rocks still look disgusting. Even streams of lava looks worse than in PS3 game. But if I had to choose steady 60 FPS gameplay most of the time versus 30 FPS mostly (because there is chopping), I would go with 60. What @kyuubikid213 said, it's the game that could might as well be on PS3

Re: Digital Foundry Heaps Praise on Super Mario 3D World

Dave24

@URAmk2 & @FutureAlphaMale http://insideplaystation.com/wp-content/uploads/2013/10/Knack.jpg oh yes, this screen is so graphically intense it's devastating. That high resolution texture on rocks and whatever this green thing is. Also this http://b-i.forbesimg.com/rakeshsharma/files/2013/10/knack1.jpg Just this. It's disgusting. But maybe it's just me that rocks, trees and weapons of the enemies look blocky. Also @URAmk2 pop-in could be even worse on PS4 - blu-ray, remember? Also, there are frame rate issues.
I'll admit I haven't played Knack that much (only few minutes), but still I was unimpresed. From console as hyped as PS4 I expect more, and SM3DW is more pleasant to look at

Re: Digital Foundry Heaps Praise on Super Mario 3D World

Dave24

It is not always 60 FPS - in 9-1 when you hit those flying things (can't remember their name) with Plessie, it drops hard. Also, there are some camera positioning issues, especially when you have to go up when screen moves and you need to run from fuzzies. And it's atrocious in the end run from Bowser.
Still, SM3DW shows that WiiU actually IS next-gen machine - I mean, it looks better than Knack (and plays), and PS4 is suppoused to be powerhouse.

Re: Super Mario 3D World Struggles Against PS4 Titles in UK Charts

Dave24

I don't get it - seriously. I mean, Knack selling better than SM3DW? It's official - people bought it because of the BRAND and there is nothing interesting to play. I mean, this game was panned before release and even Cerny had a problem to show what is interesting about it other than "graphics look like you are watching pixar cartoon", even though they look horrendous.

Re: Super Mario 3D World Sells 57% of Its Initial Shipment in Japan

Dave24

Problem with WiiU is the Gamepad itself. I'm not saying it's bad, in my opinion it's awesome thing, but I play it, so I know it, but how anyone else should know, when they are not showing any of it's possibilities in interesting way? They showed throwing stars and showing maps or off-tv play... Cool, but what else? To be honest, even Nintendo have no idea what to do with it other than map. There were few awesome ideas in 3D World, but it felt more like test of what works and what doesn't rather than game making feature.
Also, PS4 and X1, and with that 3rd party - with Wii it wasn't the problem, after all Wii was console for Nintendo games, but people had more money. Now, with all the crashes of economy and trouble with money, people are not so happy to throw away 300 euro for only Nintendo games. Price drop won't fix anything, because people are not convinced into buying it, either be lack of "big games" or underused gimmick controller.

Re: Review: Super Mario 3D World (Wii U)

Dave24

In co-op, this game can take something around 7-8 hours, which is not that bad. But co-op is problematic, because of their stupid design choice, being sprint button is the same as pick-up. It's really annoying when other person is trying to go faster and it turns out he/she carries you and you both fall to your death. It sucks. Also, it looks little forced, because toad stages are single-player, which sucks when you are playing with other people. Stample houses - instead of placing it in the stage or make it challange to unlock or something (like those cubes with 5-10 green starts), you just walk in, take it and that's it. Pretty pointless.
Cheery feels under-utilised, there are like 4-5 stages with it, and in one it doesn't bring anything to the gameplay, other than that awesome looking clones of character. Speaking of underutilised, GamePad feels worthless - only 4-5 cpt toad stages and 2-3 main stages.
Also, and that is extremely annoying and pointless, is that after each caste stage, they show you where the fairy is - I don't know what they were thinking with that.
I feel this game was intended for 3DS and later they decided to go with Wii U, because there are no games. That would explain extreme compression of this game (1,2 GB for such game is interesting, though).
But even those little annoyances don't change the fact that I really, really like this game. I wasn't this happy because of Mario game since 3, and 3 is, to me, the best one (actually, one of the best games ever made). And 3D World has 3 not without reason, there is a lot taken from the 3rd Mario, only thing missing is frog suit - music, casino, it's all there. Overworld order is little different, but it's as creative and charming, as it was to me the first time I played Mario 3 - I totally relived my childhood and felt like a happy kid again. To me, it's second best Mario game ever created. I also like that there are not that many underwater stages, I didn't like them that much in NSMB and I love that World =/= theme of the stages. Thanks to that you don't have 7-8 desert stages, 10 jungle stages, it just creative and smart level design left and right without limiting yourself to the theme of the overworld.
I hope they will make something like that in the future.

Re: Review: Super Mario 3D World (Wii U)

Dave24

This game is GREAT! When I saw that first trailer and announcement, I wasn't impressed, but now that I played it, I take it back - it feels so nostalgic and awesome in the first world and I wasn't expecting that. Everything is here - gold shells, mega mushroom, little 8-bit Luigi, even goombas sound like cats from Mario Paint.
At first I expected something like 3D Land, which wasn't bad, but this is just packed with content and references to previous titles left and right. The graphics and music are also truly amazing

@Monkeh Don't worry, I would dare to say it is better than first Galaxy. I wait till I beat the game to say if it is better than 2, but it sucked me right in.

Re: Feature: Why Nintendo Isn't Popular in Poland

Dave24

@Luko20 Now I get your point, but why it should cost lest, when it costs the same anywhere else? And as I've said earlier, the higher price is Nintendo decision. And they are dropping prices slowly, unlike Ubisoft. But if you really want to know, you can buy Nintendo Land for even less than you've said, actually. You can find it for 119 zl. How about that?
Also remember that just now the games for Wii U started coming, with likes of Pikmin and TW101

@MadAussieBloke oh, you had that in mind. You are right

Re: Feature: Why Nintendo Isn't Popular in Poland

Dave24

@MadAussieBloke As stated in this article, there is no Nintedo "branch" of publishing in Poland, so it would be hard for them to publish their console. It was published by Stadlbauer. They are their publisher/importer in Poland

Re: Feature: Why Nintendo Isn't Popular in Poland

Dave24

@Luko20 You say don't lie and do exact opposite. Where was that week wait? And also... horrible prices? Oh, I'm sorry, but 200 pln, considering that PS3/360 can start from 219 makes them even more evil? I don't get it. Oh, and also Wii U games are suppoused to be more expensive than PS3/360 games, and that's actually Nintendo decision, so you should consider that too.
And that "high" price, as you say, in T'R'S, last time I was there was... 1489, 99. And that was before the price cut Nintendo did now. Now you can buy it with WW HD for 1399 without that much of a problem on the web
