@Yasume really? Explain? Because like Sony they have put a lot of work into supporting indies and have given them as much time as high profile titles. And we know they have over 80 games in production - right now it feels like Xbone has less than 10.
We already know they have more to show us before launch - and have hinted that all our old retro games may be ready at launch. GBA and N64 launched with less games.
They have also shown quite a bit of 3RD party support too - getting Skyrim alone is special.
@sandman89 if you read the article you would understand why - the released it late in the life cycle of Wii U and didn't get many sales due to small user base. A lot of money went into producing it and I'm guess they made very modest profit on it.
Even though its a rerelease with 14 extra tracks - it might as well be just called a sequel to begin with! It has nearly double the courses with much improved frame rate and also probably at 1080p.
@rjejr IGN/Vooks have now confirmed that the Switch can have up to 8 different user accounts from any region on one Switch - but Nintendo have recommended to buy only from your region for full support.
So the Switch should be fully region free outside he annoyance of switching to another account.
I'm still baffled why they didn't do a full Wii Sports package, flesh it out a bit more to make it enticing. Would be the perfect release companion for 1,2 Switch!
Wasn't planning on getting it to start. But with a decent amount of mini games I may get it sooner than later. Rather get Has Been Heroes first. Just wish they would announce the march release date.
Bit disappointing.. was listed lower here so expecting a price increase now. I'll still be buying it as its a great party game - but if there isn't enough content I won't be buying any sequels.
@Caryslan nobody knew.. we knew we were getting warriors - not a new game. And rumours had said a port of fates!
Games take multiple years to develop. I doubt its in a state worth showing as people will whine it's either got bad frame rate, or buggy or any number of things. Its clearly 12-23 months away which is a hell load of time to wait yet. Its probably not even full alpha yet!
And more importantly - I'd say it was also not shown so it didn't detract from the Mobile game and Warriors - which are all this year. Why show a game that's incomplete, buggy and years away when you have two coming out within 11 months.
@bofis well that's not for Nintendo - that's Ubisoft as they are the developers of the game and also publisher. And when has any publisher or developer given you discounts or free upgrades for a retail title you purchased?
Once again - these guys are programming the game again and adding new features. They are actually spending money and time on this and do deserve some money back for their efforts. Its up to you to decide if that value is worth it.
@ElGrego utterly agree with you. But I think that stemmed from a really shoddy switchmas reveal. Let's be honest - I loved what they showed of the Switch, but games talk, and they didn't show anything.
I think if they showed more of what's in the pipeline and what they are doing we wouldn't. be having this conversation. But right now, I agree with you and a lot of gamers are looking at it and go "no thanks".
@Marshi well said and me too. But I'm realistic. Like you, there is a lot of other games on the Xbox and PS that are worth playing. That said I definitely think their exclusives are getting smaller and smaller and are becoming more timed. Look at MS's exclusives this year - love my Xbox but there is few games I actually want for it right now.
Still going to be a lot of exclusives you will need a switch for. I'd personally prefer the one console - but for now my Xbone and Switch combo will work well.
I'm still hopeful with the 80+ games in development there's a lot out there for everyone. We just need to show the debs with our money we want those games on switch.
@Marshi problem is, nobody wants to buy a portable system these days. Everyone has mobiles and tablets - while I would buy a switch marketed as a handheld first - I'm also the Nintendo fan that will lap it up regardless. 3DS had a really rough start due to price (And design)
I don't think they are marketing it wrong at all - a lot of the issues are stemming from the price which was "leaked" and incorrect so everyone's expectations weren't met. Leading to unhappy gamers - add on that not revealing all the games, well...
I do believe you said it in another thread though - I think they should do a bundle without the dock. Switch alone and drop the price. Let them market it as console first portable second, but give gamers the choice of "starter pack" and then like classic nes have a "gamer pack" which includes the dock and other bits. Heck they could just advertise the home console "starting at $$$" so people know there is price points and options.
@ElGrego yes. But its not the most powerful handset out there, and if the Switch was only used for video it would also get over 9 hours. What memory is faster? Memory speed/size depend price. Nintendo could be using faster memory but smaller. Also - it doesn't have anywhere near the tech that the Switch has - or are you dismissing that?
While your having a dig at the iPhone - go ahead, I hate them and honestly got given it and is my current daily driver. You will notice I said "gaming" - which video is not. Video uses nothing of the GPU or CPU, and is irrelevant for comparison unless the Switch had a video only comparison - which it would do just as well in.
Not trying to have dig at you over this.. but it needs to be put in proper context. A lot of people are skimming over things and not presenting correct facts.
I am a huge Nintendo fan, and I'm disappointed in a lot of things about the Switch (mainly launch lineup). But I'm also realistic and can take a step back and see why I didn't get more battery life or better graphics.
@ElGrego Nintendo has no control over flash memory size and it will cost a lot more than HD rumble. Most mobile phones have just jumped to 32GB standard and more results in 100+ dollars more! They aren't developing it..
There is little they could do on battery or graphics either.. if they got Nvidia to use more current hardware, the switch wouldn't be releasing for another year yet. Nvidia themselves only just pumped out a 1050 for laptops this month! Its not like they didn't design this with the best that was available when they begun.
We need to stop mixing our "wants" with the realities. Nintendo have done an amazing job with the hardware, and the only way to improve on it is to delay it even longer. Apart from the screen and cellular modems, they have crammed more tech into this device than mobile phones have - while being a good 50% cheaper!
I'm with everyone.. I want more battery life and graphics power but reality is what it is - they had little choice and couldn't wait another year. My iPhone 7 doesn't even last 2.5 hours playing games - so they haven't done overly bad at all.
@Kosmo exactly my thoughts about any game hitting the Switch.
I can see a clear difference - some of that I think is more the short time they had porting to the Switch than underpowered. That being said I'm also happy with the trade off if they make it run smooth.
@ULTRA-64 that's from Nyko I believe. It looks pretty cheap, the dpad looks atrocious! But if its cheap and functional - can you go wrong? Can always gets shot USB cable extension.
Question: who stopped talking really? He makes it sound like Nintendo, but then he also doesn't sound sure why it broke down. If he wanted to work on switch or with Nintendo he would have a better idea.
I'd love to have borderlands 3 on Switch - more games help. But the last one didnt hold up to 1or 2 either...
This system isn't "that" under powered. Its already more powerful than Wii U which was capable of better lighting and textures compared to PS3/360.
We also know it's using a custom chip with what's believed to be pascal graphics which should offer similar visuals to the Xbone/PS4 with a we less bells and whistles or less AA etc.
Let's wait and see. If they then produce a clone of the previous gen system - chuck our toys out of the play pen.
@JaxonH I wouldn't be surprised if they are working on a system where every game gets installed to an External HDD - but you can select what games to keep updated and on the Switch for on the go.
Makes sense and wouldn't take too long to implement. I think..
@AlexSora89 it's not subscription for rentals. Its part of the bonus for paying to game online. You get a rental VC games that has had Online modes added.
Im with everyone - wish we could keep them. But if they are putting in money to make them online then okay fair enough - they need to recoup the costs. They aren't a non-profit organisation. And after a month will you still be playing that title?
@Adhrast tech outlets are already calling it the most innovative feature nobody will use. Sadly, it sounds great - but wont know until I can use a Joycon.
Before everyone gets worked up - would you rather pay more for LED lights, a USB port and then charge it across the room - or save a few dollars and chuck it in the Switch anyways? Its not like the premium cradle has a battery in it.
Not a massive problem. It's not like it doesn't have a charger (switch) already. So it's a non issue. And obviously would have jacked the price up another $20 so - smart move really.
Gives me the option of choosing between a standard pair being charged, or buy the Nyko dual charger. Or not at all!
@Marshi I know. I'm a huge fan myself. But there is a hell load of good Nintendo have done here with this console. The only thing letting them down is not showing all their hand right now. I love the games shown off so far and want them all - and on the go! Just no release dates for them is harsh.
At least there is 10 games coming the first month... just hope that's enough for me now.
@Marshi I don't agree with this. Nintendo is making huge strides with indie decs and indie games are going gangbusters on console and getting rave reviews.
It takes more than AAA studios these days. And as stated, there is over 80 games already in production for Switch we don't know about.
I think your being a bit over critical. And I'm trying hard not to be, because like everyone else, I wanted to see more games.
As has been stated.. more news is coming before launch.
@wrathfulzeus a lot of your facts are incorrect. All devices are moving to Have smartphones apps and functionality. In this regard they are ahead.
You see the console as being overpriced compared to what you want to pay - fact is: its sporting a lot of tech and is quite powerful, yet way cheaper than a mobile. Its amazing Nintendo got it to that price point while essentially being a high end phone (outside of screen resolution).
Most games that do well are multiplayer games these days. Microsoft and Ubisoft are both focused on making multiplayer titles with dlc packs and micro transactions as these makes a hell load more money than single player games and do better in market and play times.
Switch was never delayed. Why launch in a crazy periods where the Xbox One S and PlayStation 4 Pro just launched - instead of a few months later when the buzz has died and they can go for all your cash?
I agree on one point. They didn't show enough games and there is plenty to see! But Nintendo have said, as well as retail outlets, that's there is more to announce before release.
They are more in touch this gen then they were with the Wii U and ahead in a few regards. We just don't know everything yet so people are reacting badly and whining like normal.
@arnoldlayne83 how are they unprofessional?? All I see is other sights whinging and whining and churning or false facts - and you question these journalists because they are looking at it half glass full?
@Marshi if it can handle ports and also Skyrim - it's hardly woeful. Considering that the CPU should be the part that's worse compared to the current gen console and Skyrim is heavy CPU based - I think it has more power than we give it credit.
@Anti-Matter Nintendo are using capacitive screens this time. Like on your mobile phone - so you wont need a stylus to be accurate. But you would need something like the apple pen for precision - so if there is one, it will be packed in with a game later I guess as an "add on" hardware.
Highly doubt there will be a cellular radio. Adds too much to the cost and also, extra battery drain. I'd also say the "app" would be pointless for online gaming then. And why kill Miiverse and Street Pass?
Big nope. Nothing adds up other than it just kills all wifi communication (also probably to the joycons too).
@diwdiws wireless latency isn't an issue these days on good carriers. Unless your in a competition to be no.1 in which case, you'd be hard wired in and not even use wifi.
@HawkeyeWii not trying to be an arse. But every company out there is trying to make the mobile phone the centre of your life/home. This puts Nintendo slightly ahead of Microsoft as far as features go, and well ahead of Sony.
This could all backfire if the app completely sucks. Let's be honest... but there is a lot more potential for this system if its done right - vs having it on your console.
@HawkeyeWii they did? Why does it have to be on the console? Why cant you take it anywhere with you? This allows all of this even without your console being with you. And updates that wont interrupt your game time.
This is pretty darn modern apart from not being on the console itself which doesn't have cellular access on the road. Xbox app wont even have all the features it's cramming into their app - and I wouldn't be surprised if it works, Microsoft follows.
I use the Microsoft app all the time it's great. Just because its different doesn't make it worse. There is lots of benefits to this system - we just have to wait test. And how many times has the xbone UI been updated alone to make it intuitive? That took full system updates. They can update this outside of the system.
@Smug43 it pretty much is all going tone early access. Nobody has attempted to do a hybrid console/handheld before and they are trying a lot of new ideas which do make sense in a lot of ways.
Problem is everyone expects to be exactly like the Xbone or PS. And when it's not exactly the same, Nintendo have screwed up and has failed.
They are in a unique position here and a lot of there ideas have potential! But there is going to be a lot of trial and error with feedback required by its users.
@cleveland124 my internet is not provided by cable. Its provided by cellular like towers across multiple areas to get to me. There is no ADSL connection and while cable is laid - its not connected to anything.
It all comes down to who your provider is and the service. My partner at home shares actual mobile data between 3 Xbones to play Overwatch and other games with me and the kids. Latency is perfect until you chuck one or two YouTube streams in to screw with it. Same with me and my Wifi setup.
In the end - the console will deal with just game data packets which is small and easy. Voice data can chew a lot of bandwidth - especially when not super compressed. I get it's not perfect - I'd be nice to have an all in one solution. But there is a lot of positives with the setup - took me a while to realise it as well.
@Galactus_33 direct wifi between switches wont be charged as you have no need to access the online service. But if the game is online multiplayer only, regardless if you want to play with just your friend, you will have too.

@readyletsgo should be able too. But more than likely will trickle charge the Switch because its not designed for it.
Re: Yes, You Can Charge Your Nintendo Switch In Tabletop Mode
@readyletsgo yeah that's because its a plug/power socket with cable. Not just a standard USB-C cable (which would be far cheaper).
Re: Yes, You Can Charge Your Nintendo Switch In Tabletop Mode
Or you know... just hold it in handheld mode so the cable can fit in and you can continue playing.

@aaronsullivan stop talking common sense. Has no place in chat topics 😛
Re: Breaking Down the Nintendo Switch Online Service Details
@HawkeyeWii not trying to be an arse. But every company out there is trying to make the mobile phone the centre of your life/home. This puts Nintendo slightly ahead of Microsoft as far as features go, and well ahead of Sony.
This could all backfire if the app completely sucks. Let's be honest... but there is a lot more potential for this system if its done right - vs having it on your console.
Re: Breaking Down the Nintendo Switch Online Service Details
Re: Breaking Down the Nintendo Switch Online Service Details
@cleveland124 I get anywhere from 14ms to 34 on average. My partner gets roughly 25-40.
And your right. But his router doesn't have game packet priority so any data sued adds increased time to packets.
Re: Breaking Down the Nintendo Switch Online Service Details
@Smug43 it pretty much is all going tone early access. Nobody has attempted to do a hybrid console/handheld before and they are trying a lot of new ideas which do make sense in a lot of ways.
Problem is everyone expects to be exactly like the Xbone or PS. And when it's not exactly the same, Nintendo have screwed up and has failed.
They are in a unique position here and a lot of there ideas have potential! But there is going to be a lot of trial and error with feedback required by its users.
Re: Breaking Down the Nintendo Switch Online Service Details
Re: Breaking Down the Nintendo Switch Online Service Details
@Galactus_33 direct wifi between switches wont be charged as you have no need to access the online service. But if the game is online multiplayer only, regardless if you want to play with just your friend, you will have too.
