There are so many games that I would love to have ported to the Switch. Many of these I never finished, as I just don't get many opportunities to sit in front of the TV for hours, playing a game. And some are just old favourites.
Fallout 3 / New Vegas Fallout 4 Mass Effect Trilogy Metroid Prime Trilogy Psychonauts The Wind Waker HD Twilight Princess HD Skyward Sword Xenoblade Chronicles X Super Mario 3D World Eternal Darkness: Sanity's Requiem Skies of Arcadia Legends Fire Emblem: Path of Radiance / Radiant Dawn Knights of the Old Republic I & II Dragon Age: Origins
I chose Pikmin 3, but I'd also love to see Xenoblade Chronicles X, Super Mario 3D World, The Wonderful 101, Twilight Princess HD, Wind Waker HD, and Deus Ex Human Revolution.
I don't own any other current generation systems. I have a Wii, Wii U and Xbox 360 from the previous generation, and all three from two generations ago.
Might pick this up... I backed the game during its Kickstarter, but I rarely get much free time to play PC games. So I never got more than a couple of hours into it. I own both Skyrim and Civilization VI on the PC, but only managed to put a few hours into each, while logging over 200 hours with each on the Switch. If I buy PoE in Switch, I might actually get to finish it.
I've had it happen with two sets of Joy-Cons now. Tried cleaning with electrical contact cleaner and that fixed it for a few days, but then it started up again. Not really enthusiastic about having to buy another set.
Really, the industry as a whole gets away with a lot simply because there is a never-ending supply of naive young men who think that making games is the coolest job in the world and will accept what is often abhorrent treatment for the privilege of having that job.
The only way to work in the industry and still have a life is to get in when you're young and unattached so that you can "pay your dues" and earn the respect of your peers when you're still willing and able to tolerate 80-100 hour work weeks. When you've been doing that for ten years, you won't necessarily tank your future with the studio by taking time off for things like having a child. Even then, there are thousands of people who desperately want a job making games, so ultimately you're still replaceable.
I left "Block Jar" about ten years ago and have never regretted it. Last year I made almost 3x as much money as I had been, I never have to work overtime, and my employer is very accommodating with taking time off for things like the kids' school events.
I worked in the industry for a few years and have experienced similarly toxic work environments, including one very well known company that rhymes with "Block Jar." I believe every word of these allegations.
I've got well over 220 hours logged with Breath of the Wild (that's not including my daughters' play time; each has her own profile). That's less than 27 cents per hour of play time (at full price) without even taking my kids' time into account. That's a bargain as far as I'm concerned. The age of the game matters little to me if I've never played it — it's new to me.
I couldn't be happier with it. The Switch has already become my all-time favorite gaming system — one major reason is that I actually get to spend time playing games on it. I'm certain I've already logged more hours on my Switch than on my Xbox 360 or Wii U (or my PC in the last 10 years). My gaming time dropped off dramatically after my first child was born in 2010, and again when the second arrived in 2012. So I don't mind getting ports of great 3rd party titles in the slightest, as I never really got to play games like Skyrim, Wasteland 2, etc. (Would still love to see a Mass Effect Trilogy or Dragon's Age Trilogy on Switch)
Only real complaint I have is that the JoyCons don't seem to be very durable. R button broke on my original right JoyCon, so I bought a new set (I was too impatient to mess around with trying to get a replacement part). A couple of weeks ago, the right analog stick started drifting like crazy, so I swapped it for the analog stick from my original, broken right JoyCon. Now the analog stick on my left JoyCon is starting to drift. My original left JoyCon still works fine though, so I'll just go back to that one.
Still, it's a concern for the longevity of the console.
The Switch isn't really a complete replacement for the 3DS yet (as a dedicated portable system), and there are a couple of factors that make it less suitable for younger kids. The price, obviously — it's still priced more as something adults buy for themselves rather than for their kids.
But it also doesn't have the durability of the 3DS. I let my kids (ages 6 and 8) use my Switch at home, but there's no way they're taking it anywhere. My 3DS has fallen 5 or 6 feet onto laminate flooring and concrete several times and it still works. My daughter took it in the car one time and she thought it would be a good idea to toss it into the car. She missed, it landed on the paved driveway and skidded a good 6 feet. It's got a few chips in the finish, but it works fine. I don't think the Switch can survive that kind of punishment intact.
IMO, the Switch won't truly replace the 3DS until Nintendo releases a smaller, more durable unit that is significantly cheaper.
I remember trying to play Dragon's Lair at Chuck E. Cheese when I was a kid. Frankly, I was never sure if I was actually playing the game or if it was stuck in attract mode.
I liked the motion controls when fighting normal enemies. It helped the game feel more immersive.
I despised the motion controls when swimming (#$@& tadtones), flying, fighting The Imprisoned, and basically whenever there was a time limit to accomplish something.
I can already watch YouTube videos on the TV using my Blu-Ray player, an app on the cable box, my Wii U, or simply through the smart TV feature on the TV itself (and that one is connected via Cat5 rather than wi-fi). I can also watch on my phone (or Chromecast to the TV), or my laptop (which can also Chromecast to the TV, or hook up to the TV via HDMI).
I'm sure I've probably missed a couple of options there. At any rate, most of us probably have more ways to watch YT or Netflix than we know what to do with.
It's good that the Switch will be getting it as well, but I'm hardly excited about it.
I absolutely don't care if it doesn't include online multiplayer.
Turn-based 4X games like Civ are a poor fit for online multiplayer anyway, IMO. You always get those players who insist on inspecting every city and its build queues each and every turn and it takes forever to make any real progress in the game. Multiplayer in the same physical location is more enjoyable, as you can talk to each other and let someone know when they're taking too long g and holding everybody up.
Still, I feel like Civilization (and other turn-based 4X) has single-player written its DNA. I'm confident that I would never have used online play, and having a full-featured Civilization to play on the go has long been a dream of mine. Civ Revolution doesn't count.
I love Star Wars, but not interested in the game that looks like X-Wing and plays like Rebel Assault.
Now, the X-Wing and TIE Fighter games with modern presentation values... Now that would be a different story. And/or modernized remakes of the Wing Commander games.
I would be even more excited about HD remasters of the two Knights of the Old Republic games in Switch. But none of these are likely to happen.
Nope, not disappointed in the slightest. I have absolutely no interest in MMORPGs.
Besides, a major aspect of the Switch's appeal is the fact that it's portable and you can play anywhere. Persistent online games aren't really care good match IMO.
Now, remastered releases of Fallout 3 and New Vegas, Fallout 4 (if it's possible)... Those would be interesting to me. So would remakes of Morrowind and Oblivion using the Skyrim engine, but those would cost a lot more to make.
Picked it up on my way home from work. Haven't had a chance to play it yet. I played a little bit of it on the PC a couple of years ago. Looking forward to playing this — being on the Switch makes that easier.
LOL at the idea that many indie devs don't put a lot of work into their games. Even the terrible games* had far more work put into them than most people realize.
It's always easy to spot a gamer who has never attempted any serious game development.
(I'm not referring to "games" that are basically just packages from the Unity Asset Store or Unreal Marketplace with a couple of things changed.)
I bought this on the Wii U shortly after I got the console, but — as with most of the games I buy — I only played it for a couple of hours and then never really came back to it.
So definite purchase for me on the Switch.
I'm more than happy to see older games released on the Switch, as I've missed out on a lot of games released since, oh about 2010 when my first child was born. Still don't really get a chance to play on a console hooked up to the TV that often, but I play on my Switch during my daily commute. (Still playing Wasteland 2, which I backed in its initial Kickstarter and only got around to playing for 5 or 6 hours on the PC)
Already pre-purchased Wasteland 2. I was hoping it would be unlocked in the morning so I could play on my train ride in to work, but unfortunately it wasn't.
I backed it on its original Kickstarter (got the physical edition with box, manual, and map), but the laptop PC thst I had when it came out couldn't run it at a playable speed. Had a better PC when the Director's Cut arrived, but I only got about 8-10 hours in.
That's why I bought a Switch at launch, as it's the perfect game system for me. I had picked up Skyrim on a Steam sale a while back, never got more than 3 or 4 hours in. On Switch, I've logged over 200 hours in Skyrim.
Also picked up Dust: An Elysian Tale earlier this week. Another game I bought upon its original release on Xbox 360 but never found the time to play.

My daughters (ages 9 and 7) still play games on the Wii and Wii U. They play on my Switch as well, but I take that to work with me every day.
They don't seem to be bothered by SD visuals. However, they always complain about how bad 8-bit (and some 16-bit) games look.
