@ThanosReXXX okay so a few ppl in all of this traffic. What the fugh ever. A few people arent loud enough to be heard over all this nonsense. Why are all these sites reporting this as fact? I dont get it. They are usually pretty critical of rumors. Damo says he has confirmed with multiple sources but they could all just think its an x1 or x2 because it IS in the dev kits, but not the final product. I just can't believe Nintendo is stupid enough to call 2 already used ideas by other companies "a new way to play" and "a complete departure from the Wii U". This HAS to be bullpoop. Theres just no way Nintendo would contradict themselves that badly. Or is there?
@DarthKlarc - please stick to the site rules and avoid using profanity. Thanks.
The nvidia x1 is a placeholder. Why does no one pay attention to the past?? Before the 3ds came out eurogamer reported the EXACT SAME THING about the 3ds. Their trusted "sources" told them the dev kits had x1 in them, and we all know that didnt turn out to be true. Same site, same scenario, same likelihood that this is real. Its a placeholder. AMD has in recent investor briefings said they have secured 3 semi custom design wins. We know for sure ps4neo is one of them. Scorpio is probably number 2, and in my mind, without a doubt NX is number 3. Nvidia has not recently posted any profits or forcasts that suggest they are about to start churning out millions of X1's or even X2's for Nintendo. First off if they were, they would have to be semi custom, because Nintendo isnt just going to drop the consumer chip into their hardware. And secondly this is THE SAME SITE THAT MADE THE SAME MISTAKE before the 3ds launched! They literally thought the x1 would be the chip in the 3ds. Why did they think that? Because it was a placeholder in the dev kits, and the devs spilled the beans to "trusted sources". This rumor means nothing. And all these sites reporting it as fact instead of a rumor are going to look pretty stupid in a few months. But hey, that didnt stop eurogamer the first time, and nobody seems to remember they were wrong before about the 3ds. History always repeats itself.
For an engineer handling a one of a kind prototype, he sure is touching it with his bare fingers a lot. Its pissing me off. He is not respectful of the rarity of the item. Finger oil causes degradation.
@kenrulei anybody who skips over the text in a Zelda game doesnt appreciate the game anyway. They dont deserve to understand the story if they have to have it spoon fed to them through curscenes with voice acting.
Also, this is totally unrelated but I just want to go on record, I think the codename NX is a visual metaphore. The N is obviously for Nintendo, but I think the X is representative of merging the console and Portable. Its the point where those two seperate experiences cross, forming an X, because although they will be coming together, they will also work seperately. I really want the actual title of the console to be the long dormant Nintendo Fusion. Thats a name that would sell consoles. It just sounds so damn cool.
So, the general consensus seems to be that the joysticks and your thumbs would get in the way of your viewing experience. And I cant help but remember all of the times we consumers have said "thats a dumb idea Nintendo, no one wants that" only to change our minds drastically when we actually get the chance to experience it for ourselves, at which point ppl are going "okay, yeah I see what you were getting at." My point is that until we actually get to use a controller like this no one has a right to criticize it. We just dont know what it will be like. My guess is that if this is the NX controller, they've already done extensive testing and come to the conclusion that your thumbs being "in the way" is entirely in your mind. Consider the fact that your thumbs cover a portion of your phone whenever you play smartphone games, or surf the web. No one is making the argument that your thumbs are ruining those experiences. I think that is a manufactured excuse and without first hand experience its just a load of crap.
It really seems like without gamepad integration, this is just the same lackluster port we've seen people complaining about in the xbox and sony camps. It shouldnt surprise that Mojang didnt go the extra mile for this version, as it was all about numbers anyway. They dont really care about the WII U or the gamepad, they just decided the install base was finally big enough to shovel us the same crappy port they've already copy and pasted across 4 consoles. I am against this game. To ingore the obvious potential of the gamepad is suggestive that they dont want the optimal experience for players. They just want your money.
Its just... a rumor. Lets not get ahead of ourselves. I would assume based on the wii and wii u releases, that Nintendo will release late fall/early holiday, just like last time. Only this time, we are going to see a HEAVY marketing campaign, and there will be NO QUESTION what the NX does, or who its target audience is. It wont be aimed at casuals, and it wont feature vague adverts that dont differentiate between itself and the Wii U. Every channel will be playing commercials for it, tv shows will be doing segments about it, its going to be everywhere, just like the wii was.
I dont think you guys are seeing the potential here. You could, hypothetically at least, use this tech to create sophisticated locks that required entering a digital space with an avatar (similar to playing a game) and performing a task without direction, or without making any mistakes. It could be a huge paradigm shift if people saw its potential. It could be the ultimate security feature. Another possible use would be in live gaming events, when players are playing for points, or there is information that would normally appear on screen, you could route that information to a scoreboard without manual entry.
Disappointed in Nintendo for considering this game "finished". It really is a cash grab, shovelware, whatever you want to call it. Its not a bunch of morons making these games. These are teams of highly skilled devs who knew from the bottom of their hearts that gamers would want online play with friends, genuine amiibo support, and at least a concerted effort on single player. We got none of those things, and I dont think we should be niave to the fact that they know what they put out. In fact, yes, they did it on purpose, because they needed a game for the holiday lineup, after Starfox got delayed. This is a worst case scenario for Nintendo. They're now knowingly releasing a shallow gaming experience for almost full price, with the intent of salvaging some of the money they would have made on Starfox this Holiday season. They're going to hurt their already wounded image with the hardcore fans, who are spending ridiculous amounts of money on amiibos and other software, who cant afford to have fifry dollars pulled out from under them for something like this.
For me, although it was nice to get a direct, it was kind of a buzzkill as a wii u owner. Ultimately we saw close to no footage of Zelda... again. The footage of Starfox, while proving the graphics and lighting have been polished alot, still only showed levels we've already seen, with a few brief stints of truly "new" footage. Thats how everyone is making comparison videos. Its almost the same trailer. For smash we got A new character that again, was not a reflection of the fighter ballot, so less space for characters fans actually want, great. More of Amiibo festival. Oh and a website to use because our game, thats up for game of the year, doesnt work and needs an external system for helping players locate each other's levels. Thats it??! Come on Nintendo. it was 70 percent stuff we've seen, a couple new amiibos, and three, count em, three 3ds rpgs in a row. Im sure 3ds owners were pleased but i feel a bit burned as a wii u owner.
@WebHead Why does everyone put the mass exodus of 3rd party at Nintendo's feet? I mean in a sense, it was in fact their fault, because they designed a piece of hardware that costs more time and money to deveope for, but that was a misstep. They assumed 3rd parties would be excited and anxious to develope with the gamepad. They never "gave up" on anyone. Its not as if Nintendo is unaware of its deficiencies in the 3rd party category. They know what happened. It was a chain of cause and effect that started with them overthinking yet another controller, and ended with all the publishers jumping ship. Yes, Nintendo has given up on getting 3rd party support this console cycle, but they still want them back. And 3rd parties want Nintendo back too! More platforms equals more money. Everyone, Nintendo included, is just waiting for the NX, because it will wipe the slate clean in a sense. It should be noted that Nintendo is taking precations to try and keep the 3rd party publishers from jumping ship again. And its a good sign when Square Enix, (who previously only developed for the 3ds because the Wii U had too small of a user base) is coming out almost a year before the release of this console and saying that Dragon Quest will be in development simultaneously for PS4 and NX. Square was one of the first to betray the Wii U, so we should see this as a sign of what to expect from other 3rd parties... They will be back. They always come back.
@TwilightAngel "try and I mean really try" I'd love for you to expand on that. Exactly how should Nintendo try harder to keep them around? Not sure you know how this all works... Its not up to Nintendo whether Activision or Ubisoft are willing to continue development on Big N platforms. They can't be persuaded. Its a matter of numbers, and bottom lines, and the decision is made by the publishers. Nintendo doesnt have any influence on the decision these guys make. Ubisoft, despite hemoraging money on Assasin's Creed and Watchdogs ports to Wii U, continued supporting them out of respect and admiration, knowing full well they would be losing money on those releases. But they are just one example of how 3rd party can either have faith or pull out based on their own business needs. What EXACTLY would you suggest Nintendo do to keep these 3rd party publishers around? It nets them more profit to develope and publish their own games in house, especially when you consider the publisher gets their cut before the platform does.
The NX isnt dead. No one even knows what it is yet, so lets all chill da funk out. Until we know what the actual concept is, this is all a mute point. And as for Smash, If Sakurai isnt involved, I doubt it will meet our expectations. he doesnt want to work on Smash Bros any more. Let the man and the series take a break. Its one of my favorite games too, I have a settle it in smash! banner across my room, and an amiibo collection proudly displayed. But I can survive on the current iteration for much longer... I mean they havent even finished releasing the dlc yet and we are already talking about the next sequel?? Jeeze.
Shut up and take my quarters!!! (yeah in all honesty an arcade wpuld be cool but the Wii U NEEDS this game. It belongs on the Wii U. That would add to the lineup of 1st party titles so well. We would have a MK8(racing), Smash(new school fighter), Splatoon(fps), Starfox(on rails shooter) Mario Maker(sandbox) 3D world(platformer) Pokken(traditional fighter) Xenoblade(Rpg) and Zelda(adventure)... all we'd be missing is a legitemate Metroid Title and the Wii U would have nailed it.
@RupeeClock some links have held the sword in their right hand. But yeah, this is super inconsistent. Mixing artwork styles from several games, and Im sorry I know some ppl on here like it, but I cant stand Link's voice actor. Hated it.
"this is why you shouldnt ever post an article, because later some more recent news might come out that contradicts the first story..." If that was the logic used to write the news, then there wouldn't be any news.
I didnt have to jump, to come to their defense. Your being hyper critical. Its their job to report the news as it comes to them. The Devil's third story was newsworthy, dont act like you could do what they do better. If you could, you'd be doing that, instead of wasting everyone's brain power making them read your pointless comment about what you would've done. The key word there being "would've" cus you lack the drive or motivation to actually do it. Yeah, your following the rules. So am I. Im within my rights to tell you what I think of what you said. I was merely suggesting sir, that you take your whiney useless comments, and make them somewhere ppl actually agree with you. The people who frequent this site like it, thats why they are here. Not to criticize the journalists who write the articles and record the videos.
@abbyhitter oh, is that what you would do?? Thanks for enlightening us. Maybe you should make your own website and youtube channel then... Im sure you'd be TWICE as successful. Quit criticizing, these guys do the best they can with what they have. F#*king internet. All you ever do is complain, and talk about how you could've done it better. Get off the boards if all your going to do is talk $h¡t.
As long as the NX doesnt scare away 3rd party publishers, Ill be happy. I dont care for most 3rd party games, I am more of a 1st party guy when it comes to Nintendo. But I want the install base to be healthy, and that means attracting the people who do like 3rd party titles.
@AdanVC they said the same thing about the ds when it came out. That it wasnt meant to take over for the gameboy advance. "dont worry, its not meant to replace anything"... Any company in their position will tell you that. They dont want you to abandon buying wii u and 3ds titles. So they say something like that "3rd pillar" statement, to keep you as interested as possible in the current console before you stop caring because something shiny and new is coming.
@LUIGITORNADO Well tough luck they made the game with motion controls. Now quit acting like you know whats best, and turn them off when the game comes out. Do you know how useless this arguement is? You dont have to use them!! Ppl just like complaining and acting like they know what Nintendo should or shouldnt do. Your not game designers. You put a millisecond of thought into your arguement. The basic controls are there for those of you who dont have to skill to learn a new control scheme. It blows me away that Nintendo tries to appease the motion control critics by putting basic controls in the game, and then you chastise them anyway... so selfish. Hiw about trying something new? How about not being closed minded to anything that doesnt look like a duel shock?
@boxmonkey Except if you go over to a friends house to play Wii U games you probably dont own one yourself, so your not gonna buy the game anyway. Anyone who owns a Wii u will not be intimidated by these controls. Splatoon is incredibly rewarding to play due to the mastery available to you in the control scheme. Bring on the motion controls!!
The push towards NX is why we are getting spin offs instead of main line titles. They have to water down the wii u software team in order to be prepared for launch.
@MitchVogel yeah! Nintendo doesnt want to admit it directly - that would be stupid. But we can take the lack of core titles as a sign of whats to come. Nintendo is not going to run the risk of having another sales flop on their hands with the NX. Having an AMAZING opening line up is key to grabbing the on-the-fence potential comsumers that have the income to splurge on a new console. My guess is that these games are at least in pre production if not development, which would explain the lack of company resources going towards wii u software.
There have been alot of leaks from inside Nintendo lately. And Sony and Microsoft are both guilty of stealing Nintendo's ideas in the past. I see no benefit to telling us details on NX this early, especially because it takes the voice away from the Wii U, and gives Sony and Microsoft a heads start at creating competing technology. They are doing the right thing. My hope is that they are actually taking a chance at R&D and making an expensive but formidable compeitor to the PS4 and Xbox1.
Sigh. A Disney Nintendo partnership scares me. I dont like Disney as a company. While they have produced some great films, (more recently only with the help of pixar) their values and leadership are extremely untrustworthy. I would never trust Disney with the Super Mario Universe. Maybe Pixar independently...
Also, to clear up the confusion, I think Manuo was just saying that the female gaming community as a whole is alot smaller than it aught to be. Not that its sad that skill, merits the right to compete. Its not like she said they should have a men's qualifier and a women's qualifier. Cuuuuz that would be ridiculous.
Dont care about their functionality as much as I do about owning them and keeping them in excellent condition. Although the figures that arent rare, I rip open and use in game.

So, the general consensus seems to be that the joysticks and your thumbs would get in the way of your viewing experience. Re: Shigeru Miyamoto Defends Star Fox Zero's Controls
Re: Shigeru Miyamoto Defends Star Fox Zero's Controls
@boxmonkey Except if you go over to a friends house to play Wii U games you probably dont own one yourself, so your not gonna buy the game anyway. Anyone who owns a Wii u will not be intimidated by these controls. Splatoon is incredibly rewarding to play due to the mastery available to you in the control scheme. Bring on the motion controls!!
Re: Talking Point: Nintendo's Approach to Transforming Franchises Clashes With Fan Expectations
The push towards NX is why we are getting spin offs instead of main line titles. They have to water down the wii u software team in order to be prepared for launch.
Re: Talking Point: Nintendo's Approach to Transforming Franchises Clashes With Fan Expectations
Re: Nintendo Isn't Talking About NX Because It Doesn't Want Rivals To Steal Its Ideas
Re: Rumours Surface of Android Emulation On The Nintendo NX and Potential Deals With Amazon and Disney
Sigh. A Disney Nintendo partnership scares me. I dont like Disney as a company. While they have produced some great films, (more recently only with the help of pixar) their values and leadership are extremely untrustworthy. I would never trust Disney with the Super Mario Universe. Maybe Pixar independently...
Re: Here Are Your Eight Qualifying Nintendo World Championships 2015 Finalists
Also, to clear up the confusion, I think Manuo was just saying that the female gaming community as a whole is alot smaller than it aught to be. Not that its sad that skill, merits the right to compete. Its not like she said they should have a men's qualifier and a women's qualifier. Cuuuuz that would be ridiculous.
Re: Here Are Your Eight Qualifying Nintendo World Championships 2015 Finalists
I went to the qualifier in Tacoma WA. My score was 986,000. Michael's was 3.6 million. My money is on Michael S! #NintendoChampMichealS
Re: Poll: We Need to Talk About amiibo - Where Do You Stand?
Dont care about their functionality as much as I do about owning them and keeping them in excellent condition. Although the figures that arent rare, I rip open and use in game.
