Liked the hardware upgrades, but the lack of actual new launch games and the price of console and games are off-putting. Unfortunately It might be the first Nintendo console I don't get at launch.
I like the Japanese box art for all the bomber man games. But Europe runs it really close this time. Id love them to release a Bomberman collection of all the SNES/Genesis/PC Engine games.
Will be picking this up with a substantial sale discount. I have fond memories of the SNES version. Which I still have a boxed copy. I was a real sucker for movie licensed games. I recently played it via rom last year, and made it almost the whole way through (with save states) and there was a bug that kept crashing it on one of the 3d sections gggrrr. One day I will complete it 😂🙂
I hope that a Nintendo game wins it. For me Zelda should win it as it has a more broad appeal, especially to children. It has always been a shining gaming beacon, and a catalyst to so many game mechanics and structures over the years. I have yet to play Baldur's Gate 3 but have heard many good things, so am looking forward to trying it. But It has been a great year in gaming. and Zelda has now twice helped the Switch to dominate the market.
Will always have a special place for this game in my heart. As I purchased it in Hong Kong in 1993. I think a 5 out of 10 is a little harsh, its easily a 6 or 7. Improvements over the original on the SNES. Characters not as memorable as the original, but at least they tried something different. The music score does become highly repetitive. But it is good fun for a couple of hours of mindless beating goons up.
Great little game that can be fully completed in around 3/4 hours. Nice otherworldly level/puzzle design, and quirky sound design. I would recommend it, however I do feel that it lacks replay appeal long term.
Great news, been wanting to to revisit this game for some time. Hopefully it will still hold up, it never did play as fluidly as the original Doom games. I would love a modern day Star Wars FPS.
Metroid Prime for me too, such great atmosphere. But I am also playing the amazing Yoshi's Island on Snes Mini for about the 100th time since 1995. I consider it one of the greatest games of all time, it is so creative and never fails to bring a smile to my face. Amazing game design and follow up to World.
Finally started this a couple of days ago after waiting for physical copy. It is a great remaster which is fitting for such a legendary game, perhaps one of best of all time especially for atmospheric environments. Roll on Metroid Prime 4
Well done to Nintendo, not everything is about having the best graphics and hardware. There is a great balance and variety of games. Being able to take the switch anywhere is its biggest strength. I expect to sell more than the DS with big name games coming soon.
I regularly play or keep going back to every year. There's lots more but these I always seem to gravitate to. Mostly easy pick up and play.
Super Mario Kart (snes) Outrun (various) Super Mario World 2 (snes) Speedball 2 (Amiga) Lemmings (Amiga) Sensible Soccer (Various) Halo 3 (xbox360/series x) Puzzle Quest (Various) Bubble Bobble (arcade) Burnout 3 (xbox) Zelda a link to the past (snes) Tetris (Ds, 99 , and effect) Doom 1993 (various) Streetfighter II (Snes,Arcade)
I think games earlier in your life really stick with you and there is always great comfort in going back to explore them.
Bubble Bobble which shadow dropped on the e-shop 😁 nice little surprise before the New Year. Really in a retro mode at a the moment. Also playing Astral Chain again, great game.
I have so many games half finished 😬. I am also debating if to open the analogue pocket and load snes games onto it. I managed to get a mega drive mini 2 to enjoy over the holidays. And couple of cartridges for Evercade Vs. So a retro weekend, casual gaming for me. I think I will play through TMNT Shredders revenge again though 🙂.
Any new games in the Puzzle Bobble or Bubble Bobble universe are most welcome. I would like to see more depth in single player sections though, a lot more levels. A new Rainbow Islands would be great further down the line, but please can we have the originals music back.
it is a pretty good game and definitely worth a play. I got it when it came out, and need to revisit it. I agree about the death mechanic. There have been some good games that have been better or equal to the films. Manly the 8bit and 16bit eras As mentioned Alien 3 on the SNES, along with Judge Dredd. Robocop 3 and Batman the Movie on amiga/megadrive. Licensed film games seem to be few and far between lately, which is a shame as I always liked playing a game based off a film as a child. There has been some great spin offs such as Alien Isolation and Mad Max etc But with so many great film licenses there should be more games based off them. I'd love another first person Star Wars game (Dark Forces).
Well deserved as it was true to the source material. I personally don't think it is as good as Streets of Rage 4. Look forward to seeing what they produce next. Maybe new Golden Axe 🙂
This looks amazing, one of my favourite games of all time. I think the original super Mario kart is the best and requires the most skill to play. Hopefully this will be playable on the Analogue pocket.
Two themes I can never get out of my head are Yoshi's island on the SNES, and Super Mario world on the SNES that plays on the end of each stage when you go through the final gate. am humming them now 😂. But there is so many great soundtracks and the Zelda games are always exceptional. Mario Galaxy is pretty cool, but it would be hard to separate it to one track. I will also give a mention to F-zero big blue because I want a new f-zero game 🙂.
Ive really enjoyed it so far, such a good arcade racer that is fun. So made up this came to switch. The course designs are so kinetic and filled with famous landmarks. Highly recommend.
The switch will crush it this Christmas building on the success of previous years. Hardware supply for Xbox and Playstation will seriously hinder sales. I have series X from launch and cannot recommend it enough though. I will probably get the OLED switch next year sometime unless another model releases. One thing I will definitely be doing is increasing storage for all systems.
Pre ordered a few months back as I love arcade racers. perhaps I should have waited for reviews, but I thought the lower budget price and the fact it looked fun, to go for it. My amazon order seems to be running a day late to the UK from Europe.
*it arrived today and is lots of fun, recommenced.
Really enjoying this so far. It is. a shame about Super Turrican II not being included. But to relive memories of the great Amiga days is worth the purchase alone. The music is exceptional 🙂. Nice touch being able to play the games with invincibility also. Hope to see more Amiga ports especially Sensible Software or the Bitmap Brothers Collections. 👍👍👍
Great news if something respectful of the original source material materialises. A Bitmap compilation would be amazing. Speedball 2 is a masterpiece and the sequels and remakes have not been up to standard so far, id love to see that change. Speedball 3 would be a dream come true. The switch is fast turning into one of the most diverse consoles, and is on its way to becoming one of the best of all time.
It looks amazing and we can only hope. I feel the best chance of this happening is If the community keeps making noise about wanting a Rogue Squadron remaster or even a new game in the series. It is likely a Star Wars Game in this genre will be made at some point. The problem is EA probably feel the space sections in Battlefront are enough. Keep making noise guys, they cannot ignore it if all the fans are demanding it. Then hopefully we will have a Rogue Squadron Star Wars game released on Switch at some point.
Outrun downloaded minute it was available. I have the 3ds version which I love, and I can highly recommend this version as it offers silky smooth frame rate and full widescreen as well as other display options. Please can we have Coast to Coast this year! Or a brand new Outrun game.
Great news cannot wait, OutRun is still amazing after all these years. I hope Sega could somehow release Coast to coast on the Switch too, or imagine a brand new OutRun game. If this and hopefully Bubble Bobble are released soon it’ll be like 1986 all over again.
Instant buy and very addictive, it looks great in Hd, the rumble sure does drain the battery fast though. But like the reviewer said it can be turned off also. Highly recommended 😃 I’d love to see the Puzzle Bobble and Puzzle Quest series come to switch sometime in the future.
Would be awesome if Taito had a resurgence I agree. I wish Konami would also revive Bomberman franchise in some form. Gutted that they aquired Hudsonsoft.
Bubble Bobble is an all time classic. Great memories of playing 2 player and memorising all of the levels. Some levels are very unforgiving with their level design. I will definitely be getting the new mini. The xbox360 arcade version of Bubble Bobble is a great updated version of the classic game with additional extras.
I remember buying the game gear with several games, it was a heavy battery user as stated, along with the Atari Lynx. One of the reasons the original Gameboy won the handheld battle , along with a much broader games library. I might pick this up if it is reasonably priced. I still have the Game Gear somewhere, might have to give it a spin to celebrate its birthday. Sonic Game Gear and Columns got played the most.
Pretty cool box, a good collectors piece, guess they could of added more cool stuff as we have seen the amiibo and hat before, have pre ordered. Have Mario maker too , should be a good weekend. If you buy Mario maker now you get a different 30th T shirt free as well as the yellow one, shame they didn't include it for people that actually pre ordered it.
Happy Birthday Pac Man. I wish they would release Pac Man Championship edition DX on the Wii U and the 3ds would be great also. It was and still is an amazing game with lots of gameplay options. It was also insanely fast but fun to play.
Well done Nintendo, I am really enjoying having the Wii U and having all the Nintendo games in HD, The naming on the Wii U was to similar to the Wii. But am hoping sales continue to grow for the Wii U, we just need some killer new Ips and more Ninetndo games such as FZERO HD. The 3ds is doing great now after a terrible start, I think handheld gaming is very popular at the moment and will continue to grow, Nintendo should allow more retro games / Re-mastered games onto the 3ds from older systems other then Nintendo, such as Arcade and Amiga etc.
Very 80s and early 90s Neon vibe to those, think I will stick to other covers though. I am sure there are some really cool plates to come in the future, maybe even some cool retro games ones
I think it is pretty cool so far, I think for 24.99 it is a good deal and will provide lots of playtime. I bought it as I am travelling to China soon and need something to play while over there and have never played a dragons Z game before so am looking forward to it. I think the Super Mario side is done well as a bonus, nice use of the Mario sound and music effects.
Just downloading, Super Excited for more Super Mario Kart What a day, Avengers Age of Ultron to see later too, Thanks Nintendo keep up with the Mario Kart DLC.
