Forever Entertainment - the same company behind remakes of Panzer Dragoon and House of the Dead - has signed an agreement with G-Mode to create a remake of the 1993 Data East beat 'em up Night Slashers for all major platforms.
There's no release date just yet, but if you're looking to play something before its arrival, you can always check out the original game, which is available via the Switch eShop in select regions. It's part of the Johnny Turbo line and is available for just $7.99 USD.
In this game, you're tasked with stopping King Zarutz and his army of evil undead monsters from taking over the world. Enemies include werewolves, vampires, the walking dead and more across seven stages, and the game supports up to 3 players. There are even some minigames, like undead bowling.

"After fighting waves of zombies, mummies and the Grim Reaper, it's time to infiltrate the fortress of the evil King Zarutz. Can you destroy the portals of darkness as the fire of the underworld threatens to consume you? Or will you perish in the face of your enemies?"
Would you be interested in playing a remake of this arcade title? Have you played the Switch eShop version? Tell us below.

I played through the e-shop version and I don't think it needs a remake. It looks and plays fine.
I’m certainly intrigued. The theming is so much more interesting than something like double dragon, so this could be pretty cool
The original is fantastic. I highly recommend it. I'll buy the remake too.Great gawbs of glorious gore getting greater.
I’m fine with the original to be honest, but I’m down for a remake of it turns out well.
A cursory - and curse-filled - look online gives no reason why this game was removed from EU eShop. Presumably it's not the blood & guts because there's no shortage of that in other titles. Would just be interesting to know what line (maybe just a licensing one) it crossed here that it didn't in US, and also how the remake is going to get around it
❗Yes but only on a physical Game💾Card.
That's neat. In the meantime, how about putting the original back in the EU eShop?
@Gassi_the_cat This is just guesswork on my part, but an error with the European rating seems like the most likely reason. It has happened with quite a few games: They get released and then pulled from the EU eShop after a week or two because of some problem with the rating. To get the game back in, the publisher needs to go through the rating process again.
My guess is that the publisher of Night Slashers just didn't bother to resubmit the game, maybe because their sales projections after the first week weren't that good.
Night Slashers is one of the few I played on an actual arcade cabinet and I remember it being notoriously hard to emulate. Good thing it didn't completely disappear.
ah so that's why they removed the original in Europe! please put it back on as the new game is unlikely to be as good.
@Kochambra Thank you - the red tape of ratings seems a likely explanation (just not as exciting as "because it has a level in it where ..🥶.. occurs!) I need to get off my backside and create a US account, because seems an easy process + have spent enough time bemoaning region-locking on other Nintendo consoles. And so I can try the original before the remake...
It's hard to get excited when you read "Forever Entertainment is remaking it".
Great game as it is, have this on my Atgames legends cab:)
Awesome, this is one of my fav beat em ups that's been ported to Switch. We really need more spooky, horror themed beat em ups, it's a good angle for the genre.
Looking forward to this, Night Slashers is awesome. Just not the pisspoor eShop port.
After the Panzer Dragoon remake I shiver every time “Forever Entertraiment” decides to touch a classic franchise. Hope this proves me wrong.
The original is already one of the best beat 'em ups ever. Maybe it really doesn't need a remake, but alas I'm curious as to how it will turn out.
Maybe it will be a sort-of upgrade/refresh like Taito did with Ninja Warriors. They kept all the good stuff that made the original good, plus added additional options, attacks and characters.
As long as the team has the right direction and talent, it should be worth the trouble. Time will tell.
This is a bizarre thing to do, not only as it's a little known game, despite being amazing, and it's amazing. I bet they f#ck it up!
@ArmoredGoomba here's the thing? Remakes make money so people will buy an old IP if it looks cool with new fresh paint.
@Snoyflake Here's the thing. From what games they remake and release. People love them. I know House of the Dead Remake isn't out yet but I do know that dragon game remake that came out. Lots of people like it. So the company is picking games wisely to remake not just throwing darts randomly at a wall. Have faith my dude.
Of hamster ACA releases it then I’ll buy it
thats pretty cool actually, this game has tons of moves for each character, and some hidden moves as well. i recommend a faq for this game...
@Wavey84
