I've always been super interested in playing these games, and was genuinely excited when I heard they were coming to Switch, but with this predatory pricing, I'm just going to emulate. Friggin ridiculous.
@Pixelated_Otaku You sound pretty reasonable saying a game is "ruined" and that the developers are "lazy" because they didn't add an option for a niche control scheme. Not overreacting even a little bit.
@jamesthemagi Reviews are opinion pieces. Opinions are not objective. How the reviewer uses their platform isn't up to you. Go to another site if you're looking for a certain kind of review.
@Henmii It is 100% Nintendo's greed and mismanagement that led to Scarlet and Violet's current state. They gave Game Freak a finite amount of money and time to release 2 major games in the span of a year. What did people think was going to happen?
@Henmii Let's chill on the Game Freak blame. They've released 2 major Pokémon games within a year. They're obviously stretched thin and being crunched. This is Nintendo's fault for rushing the game out for the holidays. It's not an issue of laziness on the developer's part, it's an issue of mismanagement on the publisher.
No major outlet has dropped a review yet. So either EVERYONE is waiting to put more time into the game, or there is an embargo and NL is full of it. I'm thinking the latter is more likely.
@BlackenedHalo LOL most modern JRPGs don't have random encounters, and Chrono Cross didn't have them 22 years ago. Furthermore, if I am of a high enough level to complete an area, I shouldn't be forced to sit through the tedium of any more random battles. Turning them off should have always been an option. Really, they never should have existed, it was a dumb hold over from archaic tabletop rules, and anyone saying "they're fundamental to the genre" is out of touch.
@-Juice-
That's garbage. Games have whatever meaning you ascribe to them, regardless of difficulty. Sounds like your life may lack meaning if you derive so much from how difficult video games are. What an absolute crock.
