The research has shown that the image wasn't largely photoshopped, but people forget that that is far from the only way to take the piss out of people. It's very possible that this device is a real thing that someone built and took a picture of for poos and chortles.
It's not quite the same thing, but Artsy Omni's leaks were said to be legit through the same system, as well.
I like the more detailed backgrounds, but I do agree that the dithering is taken way too far here. Mega Man as a series has almost always been more smoothly cel-shaded, since that's what the NES does the best job of displaying. I appreciate the effort, though. I've always liked repainted games for some reason.
I'm confused as to how people believed this obvious homebrew joke. The icon for the game looks sloppy, "Pokémon" is written without the accent, and, obviously, the game's not out yet.
That said, this is fun to do just for "the lulz." I like doing a similar thing on Steam where I add a non-steam game and rename its shortcut something absurd like "Half-Life 4" just so friends can see the "CrazyRiverOtter is playing..." thing at the bottom of the screen.
I didn't notice the rating was at the top until it was pointed out to me, so I think it'd be easy enough to ignore.
Even then, reviews are supposed to be informative and the number doesn't make sense without the text backing it up anyway, so it's fine by me.
As for the game itself, it's definitely not one of my favorites but I can see the developer going places and I can certainly recommend this to hardcore collectathon fans.
The reason the game is locked to 30 frames per second is because, like Wind Waker, the game's logic is hard-coded to the framerate. Yeah, it's a terrible way to design the architecture of a game, but making it go at 60 would have involved remaking the game from scratch.
Come to think of it, I think a game that was remade from the ground up would be more worth the $50 asking price, at least. Especially for a remake of a game with a $20.00 MSRP.
I love how everyone's hyping the NX so much that, unless it can render 8k HD, have 100 terrabytes of ram, and have the ability to play Half-Life 3 on it, no one's gonna be impressed.
"Digital shoulder buttons = no buy" You guys do realize this is a Pro Controller, right? Analog shoulder buttons would be impossible. If they DID add them, it would just mean you'd have to squish the buttons in before they registered as anything, since they'd still be digital anyway.
This does look really weird and fat, though, and I don't think the GameCube face buttons do must good for most Wii U games.
30 dollars is just to much for a console port of the much better PC version. "But the bundle on PS3 and Xbox is the same price!" Yeah, the BUNDLE. The bundle that you have the option of not buying and instead getting the $20 version. And that wasn't released two years too late for it to even be relevant.
Eh, I've played some of their games and just thought "meh." None of them didn't really have much character. Mutant Mudds just kinda felt like all the other "wow it's retro but it's 2015 lol" indie games that came out around the time, but I could let that slide if it wasn't so slow-paced yet also unforgiving. Moon Chronicles... I don't know. I couldn't get very far in it because the aiming is dreadful with the C-Stick.
I don't have anything really against them as a studio, of course, but they don't really stand out from other developers, especially on the eShop.
Not only is it a cut-down port of a PC game, but it has no extra features and is $3 more expensive than the infinitely better PC version that no one's cared about for years now.
I've said this before, but I'm glad they're keeping it a trilogy. Without Itoi, I don't think Nintendo would put out a very worthy installment. The passion just wouldn't be there, and we'd probably just end up with another Sticker Star situation.
I'm eagerly awaiting the fangame, though, as I can tell it's at least made by people who seem to live and breathe MOTHER.
I actually really like this mock-up. He looks kinda ugly and doofy, but let's not forget that that's kinda what he looked like in the artwork for the first four games. Like, I think Zelda 1/2's link would look like this grown up. It's a far cry from the borderline bishonen we see from Adult Link in Ocarina upward, but hey. that's what fanart is for, cause I don't think this would fit into the canon series at all.
I got this recently. Good God, do I regret it. Please, do yourself a favor and get Colors 3D instead. Colors may not have very many drawing features, but the features it does have work very well. This, on the other hand, is a mess. There's a ton of cool features, but they're either very clunky or very laggy. Like, SWITCHING TOOLS takes a couple seconds of waiting at least.
Oh, and the Miiverse functionality is a joke. You have two options: 1.) Upload the full-screen-yet-pixelated BEYOND BELIEF editing version 2.) Upload the comic page as a screenshot of the thumbnail at the resolution of about 200x140, or around 1/9 of a megapixel. For an art-form that requires high visibility.
Good God this is Inchworm Animation all over again.
The MOTHER trilogy is just fine as a trilogy. The fan-made fourth game looks really good, but I don't think it's something Nintendo, especially with how they've been recently, would be able to pull off with any tact. Itoi is totally right about this.
And the "push Itoi out of it and work on it anyway" crowd is just... why. You want a fourth game so bad that you're willing to accept just anything regardless of who's making it and what it's about?
Yeah, this is a 2D sprite based dungeon crawler. I'm pretty sure if someone who actually knew a thing or two about programming was working on this it'd probably be playable on the PS1.
An social app that lets you use miis? I'm down for that. Can't wait to see what plans Nintendo's brewing with this. With those guys its either sheer brilliance or "what the hell were you guys thinking?" cases. Glad to see they're trying to expand.
I'll believe it when I see it, as some were saying.
If they really wanna make a good game, they should get a Rom Hacking crew together to do one for them. Like, didn't they get Stealth to help with a few ports? I think they get the level design better than Sega.
@iflywright Though it looks rather impressive, it's actually kinda easy to pull off once you get the hang of it. I finally managed to beat the game just a few weeks ago (after YEARS of not being very good at it, in general,) and I do that all the time.
I don't really think I'd like this game too much, but I'd be lying if I didn't say that I think the sprites are really pretty. I like that selective-outline-colorful style they've got going on there.
If someone was able to recreate MegaMan 2 in Petit Computer, I can't imagine the fun I may have in this just playing other people's stuff alone. Also, I can't wait for the new online publishing in this. Scanning 200 QR codes on that crappy DSi camera was HELL.
I'd say it's probably just a VC game if it wasn't for a few factors: 1.) Wii Virtual Console games don't get custom icons. 2.) The dataminers looked in the Japanese data and found the title "The Legend of Zelda: Twilight Princess HD"
So either it's gonna be a really quick surprise HD version (or a pre-load) or these dataminers are just talking out of their bums.
Heh, I guess I can see a niche for this, but I don't think I'd ever be the type of guy that would spend $600 on a famiclone, even if its a really good famiclone.
I once saw a clone system at a nearby Hastings that plays NES games for $13. There's no HDMI support and it's probably not got great quality, but it just kinda proves how few people would be bothered to get something like this.
