We don't plan on picking this up, as we have a Switch that stays docked 95%+ of its time.
But I'm curious on one of Tom's thoughts, "I doubt Nintendo will phase out the original in any way, for example."
Did Nintendo keep manufacturing the original 3DS after the XL and New 3DS were released, or did they stop producing certain models over time?
I'm thinking Nintendo will only be producing the OLED from here on out, and using the holidays to help clear the inventory of the original still at $300. Then, they can drop the price of the OLED if they want/need after the holidays.
I don't know though, maybe Nintendo kept on producing the original 3DS after the XL models and the New 3DS were released? Anybody have a timeline of when models were stopped in production?
But, I'm hoping the Steam Deck catches on as a popular alternative, and that maybe helps force Nintendo to update/drop the price of the Switch systems, and if not the Switch, hopefully the Steam Deck helps and the GPU market in general will see price reductions.
Also, on the OLED part, I haven't heard a lot of great things about the longevity of them in general. I know they do great colors, but from what people say, they burn out (still) and just have issues over time. I'll be curious to see what the situation is with this one over time.
@Kyloctopus Not sure on his source or what else they said, but the reports were spot-on so far minus the 4K part.
The early "rumors" reported: New, larger, OLED screen - Correct. New stand - Correct. LAN port - Correct. September/October/holiday release - Correct. 4K - incorrect.
The fact is there is a "new" Switch, so the rumors and sources were spot-on for multiple points of it. I'm still thinking they're releasing a Switch Pro with games next year, as I've stated above, just not until those games are ready.
@Kamalen I don't think I read the first Bloomberg article that started it all, should probably check it out. *goes to google
The article I'm talking about was after that one, and specifically mentioned the things like the better stand and LAN port, and the OLED screen, which maybe the Bloomberg one didn't address?
*Just finished the Bloomberg one...
Okay, so Bloomberg did say, "The latest model will also come with 4K ultra-high definition graphics when paired with TVs, they said.", which as of now is not true and not for this model, but this was further down in the article.
But, they also correctly said: "Nintendo Co. plans to unveil a model of its Switch gaming console equipped with a bigger Samsung OLED display this year, hoping the larger touchscreen can prop up demand in time for the holidays..." and... "Samsung Display Co. will start mass production of 7-inch, 720p-resolution OLED panels as early as June with an initial monthly target of just under a million units..."
So, the bits on the OLED were correct, as well as the release this year. The other article that was after this one then added the bits on the new stand and LAN port, which was not in the Bloomberg article.
@Edu23XWiiU The rumor predicted the OLED screen, better stand (even mentioning the Microsoft Surface tablet thing for comparison), and the LAN/Ethernet port, as well as a September/October release this year.
The only thing they missed on was the 4K upgrade, which is apparently the one that matters most, to most people.
I still think the Switch Pro is happening though, just not until they have Breath of the Wild 2 ready and probably the others, as I said above.
I should note, the rumor that mentioned the specific details of the updated OLED screen, better stand, and LAN port was not Bloomberg (maybe they mentioned it as well?), it was another site that first published those details.
@WallyWest I don't get about using the, "80M+ Switch's are out there, Nintendo has zero reason to waste time, resources and money on something they don't need out there. In 2 or 3 years time the true "next gen" Nintendo console will be out so why bother with the mythical Switch Pro."
In 2-3 years, there will be what, 100+ million Switch consoles out, so why would they want to abandon it then? I think they want to keep those customers, and let future "upgrades" make sense to them.
For example, do you think the Switch OLED will be a third SKU for the system, or do you think the Switch OLED will replace the current $300 docked version? I think we can safely say the Switch OLED will replace the current version, and Nintendo will only be producing the Switch OLED for the holidays as a docked one, and they'll be making a little extra on it at the higher price while they clear the inventory on the old one without a price drop.
I still believe a Switch Pro is happening, and it will be like the New Nintendo 3DS. I just think they won't release it until Breath of the Wild 2 is ready to launch, and/or Splatoon 3 and Metroid Prime 4.
I think they'll use those games as showcases for how they run better on the Switch Pro (whatever they call it), with something like 60 FPS vs. 30 FPS. Not sure it's possible on the software side, but maybe they'll show how current Switch games are made to run even better on the Switch Pro with a FPS Boost type situation.
The rumors pointing to a new Switch were right that there was a new one, one even said it would have a new stand, LAN port on the dock, and the OLED screen. It got those three things right, along with the September/October release.
@Edu23XWiiU There was one report that mentioned all the "upgrades" in the OLED, and nothing more. It was basically this exact model that was in one of the rumors, and not any of the 4K stuff.
The fact there is a new model coming out, I think shows the rumors are probably onto something. Bloomberg had the other info, and another rumor had this info. Both could be absolutely correct, as at least one of them had the OLED screen and LAN port as upgrades mentioned (again, it didn't mention any visual/chip upgrade in the system) and a "new" system is releasing this year.
I believe the Switch Pro is happening, and the Ethernet/LAN port in the dock further proof. Why?
4K and bigger game file downloads are helped with a direct connection. Makes it easier for games to download faster.
But, I don't think the Switch Pro is releasing until Breath of the Wild 2 and/or Splatoon 3 and Metroid Prime 4 are ready.
Those games will help "showcase" games for the Switch Pro.
They'll be able to talk about 60 FPS vs 30 FPS type gameplay, and they'll use those games to talk about those differences.
I think the Switch OLED (which one article rumored the exact updates before E3, not even making any mention of visual upgrades) is just an updated model like the one in 2019 with a better battery life was. This one has the screen, and an updated dock.
Speaking of the LAN port though, do we know what the allowed speeds are on it?
Oh, and I think the Switch OLED will of course replace the $299.99 Switch model, and my guess is the Switch OLED will be the only one docked version you can find during the holidays, assuming it isn't sold out.
This was my favorite reveal. Not only was it new, but it was a new Metroid game and in 2D fashion. One of our kids absolutely loves the 2D Metroid games, and has beaten them all (some multiple times), so this is a day one purchase for us.
Maybe it's time I go and try the 2D Metroids and attempt to finish them.....
Speed Limit! If you're looking for a game that you can enjoy in small sessions (can complete it in a single sitting), but come back to it again and again like the old arcade/NES/SNES titles to improve your times and score or just for the fun of it, I would definitely recommend it. I called it R.U.F.F! after I finished it in February. Retro. Unforgiving. Fantastic. Fun! You can download the demo on the Switch (and pretty much every other system), and give it a try.
The dev's description says, "Speed Limit is our breakneck mile-a-minute tour through the genres of retro action games: Run and gun in a side-scrolling shooter, weave through traffic in a faux-3D bike racer, dodge incoming missiles in an isometric shoot ‘em up, and more. Speed Limit is purpose built to scratch the retro itch."
I might send it over in a minute, and thought those reading the comments might enjoy the demo of it now.
@the_beaver I just finished Crysis Remastered in the last 2 weeks on the Switch, and I did enjoy it, but there were definitely some bugs in it.
At one point, I hit a bug that stopped my progress and I reached out to the devs and asked for help. The solution was super simple, but it did stop my playthrough at the time.
I ran into other random issues as well, so if they tried it early on, before the patches that could by why?
@chipia If you're talking about the PS4 and Xbox not getting upgrades/new systems, the 7 years is off. The PS4 and Xbox both had "Pro" type models released. The PS4 released in 2013 OG, and then PS4 Pro released in 2016.
This is what most people are assuming/stating the next Switch will be from what I'm gathering (and think as well), not an entirely new PS4 to PS5 system, or Wii U to Switch type system update. More along the 3DS to New 3DS system type update.
@BrintaPap At this point, Nintendo could probably release a lower powered Switch and just say, "The Joy-Cons won't drift." and sell another 80 million units.
But seriously, I do hope that is at least one thing fixed on the next system, and think it could be a big selling point to the "core" fans. Even if they don't announce a change, and the Joy-Cons just look slightly different, that might be a silent signal of, "Hey, ugh, we attempted to fix the problem...see?"
The rumors are all wrong.
Nintendo is releasing a new system in September, and it will be called the SuperCube in honor of the GameCube's 20th anniversary.
It will be priced at $199.99, and be able to play all Switch games and 3DS games, as Nintendo has repurposed the GameCube memory card slots for Switch/3DS cartridges.
It will also have the NES, SNES, N64, and GameCube first party games available day one on the Virtual Console.
It won't have a screen, to help cut manufacturing cost down, but will be more powerful than the Switch and Switch Lite, and on par with the PS5 to help them get third party ports.
It will be portable, because the box will have a handle, like the OG GameCube.
@Late I really enjoyed Burnout 3, and haven't given another entry in the series a try since then really. I was digging through my old games recently, looking for my copy, and I can't find it at the moment, but if I do, I'll be firing it up. Not only do I remember playing and really enjoying the races in it (great sense of speed), but also the crash mode that was absolutely awesome at the time was enjoyed a lot by my wife.
But, as for this weekend and what I'll be playing, or have already played... My wife and I are playing through Donkey Kong Country co-op together, and having a lot of fun with it. I played a little bit of Animal Crossing yesterday, just sharing some extra DIYs. And, I might fire up some Speed Limit on the Switch and try some new PBs and maybe WRs on it, since the new update just hit it this past week.
@QuickSilver88 I agree, the U.S. launch ads for the Wii U were horrible, and imo NoA really dropped the ball with the Wii U overall. It was a solid system, and the GamePad was a solid piece, but I just feel like NoA had no clue what they were doing and/or just automatically assumed that it would sell extremely well because it had the "Wii" name in it, and the Wii had been so successful for them.
We've had a Wii U since launch though, and it is still used. The backwards compatibility with the Wii games is great, and the eShop/Virtual Console stuff was solid.
I am thinking the next Switch system will be like the New 3DS, and not an entirely new system. Just some upgrades, with better overall performance. Backwards compatible, and maybe some launch titles that help showcase the extra power of the system. Maybe something like 60 FPS vs. 30 FPS in some first party games, more third party ports, better battery life, better quality of life on the Joy-Cons (maybe redesigned for this system so they don't have the drift issue?). I don't see them abandoning the current Switch system with games that have sold over 30 million copies, I see them trying to make the case for those to upgrade for better performance, and new games with that performance though.
We're a gaming house, and all the kids play Roblox. It's the most played game in the house, easily, because of the kids and how much they play it. They're on it all the time, when not doing school. They talk with friends/family almost daily, using Messenger or the like, while playing the games together. It's extremely popular in the younger ages, and has a huge variety of games. Some games are pretty solid, others not so much, which makes it pretty close to being a console for games really. Roblox went publicly traded just a month ago? 3 weeks ago? Not long, so that means they're basically only concerned with profits at this point, and will attempt to get their system of games in front of as many people as possible. Maybe this would be something to advertise the next Switch with? Makes sense to me, since Nintendo and Roblox have a huge shared audience.
@Patendo I picked it up on sale about 3 months ago on the Switch, and have been slowly playing through it. There's definitely some bugs/glitches (reached out to the devs with some of them), but I'm still making progress.
I like the Nanosuit stuff in the game, and even the storyline, at least, so far. It just seems to be a bit off to me, and not sure what it is entirely. The jumping mechanic seems like it should be a lot better, for one. But, maybe it's the glitches/bugs throwing me off, though I'm still giving it a go and enjoying it. I played some yesterday, and plan on firing it up here in a few as well. But, I did learn that apparently it wasn't Crytek that ported the Switch version, and was actually another company, Saber Interactive, that has been helping with it? I thought that was interesting.
I would be interested in a Crysis 2/3 "Remastered", though I feel like these should be near perfect when released, and not have the bugs/glitches that the OG one has had. I feel like a game releasing after all this time, with the "Remastered" in it's title, should be playing smoothly and really be a showcase for what the OG could have been.
@Dr_Lugae I still remember a blog post before the Switch was released, and even before we knew its name, that said Diddy Kong Racing was in the works to be a launch title for the Switch, but that never came true, and other details that were said in the post were off (Nintendo aiming for a $150 launch price, though I could see this if the Switch didn't have a screen and was just a console like the GameCube maybe).
But, the rumor behind it was related around the developer Monster Games possibly developing the game, and based on how Monster Games has not released a single title on the Switch, I'm leaning towards the rumor of the game being in development originally as true, because of other reports of how Nintendo cancels entire contracts with companies because of leaks and rumors that happen about projects that might be in the works (High Voltage with Splatoon, Netflix with The Legend of Zelda, etc.).
Monster games was a pretty solid company teaming up with Nintendo, and pretty much exclusively when they started on the Wii with Excite Truck at launch. Their last game developed and published on a Nintendo system was Xenoblade Chronicles 3D for the 3DS though, and not a single game they have developed since has been released on a Nintendo system.
They ported Donkey Kong Country Returns to the 3DS, and then even apparently worked with Retro on Tropical Freeze, they made Excitebots (apparently after Nintendo decided against Diddy Kong Racing on the Wii at the time), and even developed Pilotwings Resort.
I don't know what happened and if they had more of a Diddy Kong Racing game done, and that blog leak caused Nintendo to cancel the entire project, but I do hope that maybe it can see the light of day if it was in the works and nearly complete. I really enjoyed Excitebots on the Wii, and they seemed to have the racing mechanics down well.
@infernogott I played through the demo one time, and didn't have any issues with it crashing on my first attempt. I did have it crash on a later attempt though, I think when I crashed into one of the obstacles. I think I was going from sliding to accidentally standing up into the obstacle, and it crashed the game. I attempted to see a crash report, so I could let the developer know, but it didn't show one in the system list.
But, I did go back just attempting to get the items in the levels, and it's very BIT.TRIP Runner styled even with the "Bonus" levels from the one I saw.
I do like the animations, and that there are different outfit colors you can select from, but I'm curious what they'll be pricing it at when it releases.
Speed Limit on the Switch, for more speedrun attempts. Final Fantasy VII on the Switch, continuing my first playthrough of it and hopefully beating my first ever Final Fantasy game. Probably some NSMBUD with the kids. Maybe some more Animal Crossing.
Speed Limit on the Switch, attempting to better some times. Animal Crossing, probably. Just setting out some more Mario items. Final Fantasy VII off the eShop. Just started it last night, and will hopefully be working my way through it this weekend and next week.
Maybe the developers will hop in here, but why is there DLC listed for it on the eShop when the game hasn't even released yet? From what I'm seeing, it says, "Contains 12 skins" and nothing else in the DLC? Is the DLC free? Or, is it paid?
@Darlinfan "You know, the 99.9% of the active player base who aren't playing on Switch. You're playing with them. How the Switch version runs in comparison is the entire point."
You're not if you turn off cross-play, so it's not the entire point. If you turn off cross-play, as the review says to do, and multiple YouTube videos (which, funnily enough, one "review" on YouTube said to do this exact thing on launch night, then the same night they were playing with cross-play on when they were streaming it), then you're playing against Switch only owners.
How it runs on the Switch only at that point, would be all that matters? Or, maybe, what might matter more would be is the game fun, even with some graphical issues and slowdown at times (maybe like the Doom ports?), and what does it offer compared to other free-to-play games on the Switch like it?
But, on this topic of cross-play. Last night I played multiple matches, no problem, with only other Switch owners. Even this afternoon, same thing, was finding matches with Switch only players, no problem. Then, in the early hours of the morning after playing last night, the matches were taking a bit more time to connect, so I turned on cross-play, and basically was immediately put into other matches with that option on.
The biggest difference with cross-play on? It seemed to have more lag issues, but those seemed to be server side things, which would make some sense since it was cross-platform and not platform specific?
As I mentioned in the previous comment, I have had some disconnect issues, where it closes me back to the Switch's home menu, but I am enjoying learning (and trying to remember to use) the different specials with the characters. Been killed quite a few times, fully charged up, specials just sitting a button press (or, two) away, completely forgetting about them.
@FredsBodyDouble From what I've played, you can spot enemies clear across the map. They don't pop-in, that's only some things in the environment, like maybe bushes/trees, but the enemies can be spotted pretty easily from my playtimes in the matches so far.
I've never really gotten into and tried out this type of game, but I had heard a lot about Panic Button making great efforts on Switch ports, and wanted to give it a try and see.
I've been happy with it. I don't have other consoles. Don't compare it to other consoles. It reminds me of The Hunger Games, just in video game form. If you haven't read The Hunger Games, I would suggest giving those a read, and if you enjoyed those, you might enjoy this as well.
It takes a while to learn the ins/outs of the gameplay, but eventually, after a few thousand matches, you will probably get a kill. But, you can win matches with your team, and you might not even get a kill during the match. It's pretty cool.
How long did the reviewer play this, before copying/pasting what every other Switch "review" had already said? Also, is it a massive downgrade, if you only have a Switch? No, it's a Switch game, with good graphics.
Are there issues? Sure. But saying the graphics are a massive downgrade, when the system doesn't even have the game, would be like saying getting a 1995 Toyota Corolla would be a downgrade over walking? It doesn't make sense to even compare it, does it? The game wasn't on the system, so what game on the Switch are you comparing it to, graphically, that this is a major downgrade on?
Oh, and I don't like EA, and won't buy their games. I got this, again, to see what Panic Button was able to do. It runs well enough that I've had some fun matches, after learning how to play it. Yes, you need to learn how to play it. Have had some weird issues where I'll be in a game, and it completely crashes me out to the Switch main menu, open it back up, join a game, and it puts me right back in the same game on the same team, which I thought was interesting.
This review reads of a copy/paste like every other YouTube video made after playing the game for 10 minutes.
Tell Switch owners about the game, and what they can expect. Does that make it enjoyable? Are the classes really well done? Does it require teamwork? Can you go solo? What about voice chat?
Speed Limit on the Switch, having a blast with this one. Animal Crossing: New Horizons, doing daily activities and ordering the Mario items. Hypercharge Unboxed probably. I just purchased it, so I haven't played the full game yet, but looking forward to seeing how it goes.
@Bizzyb I keep hoping Nintendo will do a new Endless Ocean, or even just HD ports of the Endless Ocean games for Switch owners that passed them over the first time, but not sure that will happen.
I think it was actually Reggie that was a big fan of the Endless Ocean titles, because he used to scuba dive (I'm thinking off old memories here, I could be way off), and that was why the U.S. got the Endless Ocean titles, but didn't get Pandora's Tower and Disaster: Day of Crisis at the time.
Edit: I did watch the trailer for this yesterday when it popped up, and it looks interesting to me. I enjoyed the second Endless Ocean game, so I might pick this up and give it a try.
If you didn't play this on the Wii U and you are looking for a co-op local multiplayer game, I would recommend it just based on my time with that game. I played through it on the Wii U with my better half, and we had an absolute blast with the game then.
I would imagine the added Bowser's Fury content is like icing on the cake, or something to that extent, at this point? The game was packed with content and levels on the Wii U, and I don't think we even finished 100% everything after we bear the main levels/story.
If you're only a Wii U owner, and looking for an open-world game that you don't have to be super concerned with content, I highly suggest going with LEGO City Undercover.
I am having great fun with the title, and I'm not even sure how far I am into the storyline, but have already put more than 10 hours into the game. With TONS left to do based on my percentage that I have completed.
LEGO City Undercover has: 1) Open-world 2) Tons of unlockables 3) LEGO games humor
Content side: 1) No cursing 2) No nudity
I have also heard that LEGO Batman 2 is an open-ish type world game, but haven't played it, so not really sure about it and how it would compare to LEGO City Undercover. But, LEGO Batman 2 is on the Wii U as well.
For those of you that have been playing GTAV, is there any sort of content filter in the game? And do you have to be concerned with foul language if you are just driving around, meaning, getting cursed at by citizens and the like?
I have no desire to play the game, as I see it continuing down a road of immaturity rated as "Mature". I am married, with children, but I never really enjoyed the immaturity aspect in games like this.
I am currently playing through the Wii U's GTA though, that being LEGO City Undercover and am having a blast with the game. I also enjoyed the original Mercenaries when it released.
They say too much of a good thing can be a bad thing though, and I think often times with games like GTA, the developers/writers should remember that, and then some.
If too much of a good thing is a bad thing, then what is too much of a bad thing?
I use the Nintendo Channel weekly for data reports. While the removal of the Channel will prevent new games like Pandora's Tower from having data reflected in the U.S. (as of now I don't think it's even programmed to reflect it), I hope they will just update it for the Wii U.
Hopefully something like that will happen, but I don't think Nintendo liked some of the data being shown on the WiiWare titles.
@Ambassador_Kong @LittleIrves Awesome, thanks for the feedback! I have really enjoyed the first one (still on the last world), and am looking forward to playing Runner2.
I only briefly played Luigi's Mansion, but Luigi is known in our house even by our oldest (not even 4, but he was running around with Mario and Luigi toys yesterday).
Knowing this is The Year of Luigi now, I'm wondering if Nintendo is doing a Luigi's Mansion HD for the Wii U? Either based off the original, like The Wind Waker, or perhaps some of those Luigi's Mansion 2 Wii U retailer listings could end up being true?
I mean, if this is The Year of Luigi, I would think they have more planned than just one game on one system, right?
@JAPBOO I think if you experienced a glitch prior to the patch, that you might need to start a new file. It seems that some that experienced glitches before the patch, and try to continue the game where they first got stuck/glitched, can't continue right now.
I would say just wait another week to see if there's more on it, or just start another file, which should hopefully allow you to play through without any issues.
For those of you that have the game, and experienced the freezing issue. Has the patch solved it completely? I held off buying it after seeing early comments about the freezing issue.
"Understandably, we asked Behr is a Wii U eShop version was a possibility. While it's not on the cards at present..." Just raise the KS goal like everybody else, and call it a day?
Was this done before GDC, and the Nintendo Web stuff?
Just makes me wonder why he/they would reach out to a Nintendo based site about the game, if they aren't planning it for the Wii U/3DS. Kind of odd...
As for the video and what was shown, I need to see more gameplay footage to really know what they're going for. When I read, "2D platform adventure" I was curious, but then I saw "A dream-like 2D "endless runner"", so the video should convey either a more standard 2D platformer, or the "endless runner" portions. I just didn't really get the "endless runner" feel from the clips in the video.
As for the "treehouse" idea/theme, I like it a lot, being that I might of had one/two growing up...(they should all have secret/trap doors!)
@Banker-Style Already posted it and updated it with official word from a Ubisoft rep. on what is supposed to be addressed. Just sent it over to Damien directly.
@JonWahlgren Ah, interesting seeing different times for different folks. Glad to know this version has the DLC included, as that probably will help add a few hours (and some of the modes actually sound fun).
Looks like it could end up good (animations & effects in the trailer look good, and the design sort of reminded me of Muramasa...just based on the trailer), not sure the genre has really been hit on a lot here recently, so seems like this could have a good audience.
As for this Q&A: NL: What are your thoughts on the Wii U hardware? KJ: The hardware is actually very new to us, so we are still exploring it. I think the Wii U GamePad is really cool and innovative."
I would suggest they take a look at Trine 2, as one quick eShop title with lots of control options, including GamePad. One big thing, I would say is to include Off-TV play...it's absolutely awesome for a parent with little ones.
"was asked to break down the install bases of the consoles which are currently available."
It should be noted that he was asked about the Wii, and PS3/360 specifically, not the Wii U. He digressed to the Wii U, when he was originally asked about the Wii and PS3/360 attach rates instead. Perhaps it should be titled "Kotick thinks PS3 and 360 markets are worse than the Wii U for Skylanders, because he diverted question to another console he wasn't even asked about."
@Azooooz So when you hit the "Home" button, it actually accesses the "Home menu"!? If so, that's a good thing, especially IF it takes a screen shot for Miiverse, that would be nice...but either way, it would be nice to access Miiverse from multiplayer quicker.
I'll check it out in a bit, as I have been really enjoying the online. Playing via the GamePad, while the TV is being used for Netflix or a Wii Virtual Console game (on the Wii), is awesome. Throw in some headphones, and it's great for sitting in the same room as your wife, who isn't distracted by all the game noise.
This is from GameInformer, so the original source is the magazine and should get credit somewhere in this post since it was the source it was stolen from in typical Nintendo Everything fashion.
@SetupDisk Very interesting. Shorter than Trine 2, and priced lower than Trine 2. As long as games in development for 2-ish years though, and cost $60 retail. Makes me think it's not a bad deal.

Re: Talking Point: Nintendo Switch OLED, Worth The Upgrade? Team NL Has A Chat
Re: Talking Point: Where Does The Switch OLED Announcement Leave The Rumoured Switch Pro?
@Kyloctopus Not sure on his source or what else they said, but the reports were spot-on so far minus the 4K part.
The early "rumors" reported:
New, larger, OLED screen - Correct.
Re: Talking Point: Where Does The Switch OLED Announcement Leave The Rumoured Switch Pro?
@Kamalen I don't think I read the first Bloomberg article that started it all, should probably check it out. *goes to google
The article I'm talking about was after that one, and specifically mentioned the things like the better stand and LAN port, and the OLED screen, which maybe the Bloomberg one didn't address?
*Just finished the Bloomberg one...
Okay, so Bloomberg did say, "The latest model will also come with 4K ultra-high definition graphics when paired with TVs, they said.", which as of now is not true and not for this model, but this was further down in the article.
But, they also correctly said:
"Nintendo Co. plans to unveil a model of its Switch gaming console equipped with a bigger Samsung OLED display this year, hoping the larger touchscreen can prop up demand in time for the holidays..."
and...
Re: Talking Point: Where Does The Switch OLED Announcement Leave The Rumoured Switch Pro?
Re: Talking Point: Where Does The Switch OLED Announcement Leave The Rumoured Switch Pro?
Re: Talking Point: Where Does The Switch OLED Announcement Leave The Rumoured Switch Pro?
@Edu23XWiiU There was one report that mentioned all the "upgrades" in the OLED, and nothing more. It was basically this exact model that was in one of the rumors, and not any of the 4K stuff.
The fact there is a new model coming out, I think shows the rumors are probably onto something. Bloomberg had the other info, and another rumor had this info. Both could be absolutely correct, as at least one of them had the OLED screen and LAN port as upgrades mentioned (again, it didn't mention any visual/chip upgrade in the system) and a "new" system is releasing this year.
Re: Talking Point: Where Does The Switch OLED Announcement Leave The Rumoured Switch Pro?
Re: Metroid 5 Is Coming To Switch As Metroid Dread, And It's 2D
This was my favorite reveal. Not only was it new, but it was a new Metroid game and in 2D fashion. One of our kids absolutely loves the 2D Metroid games, and has beaten them all (some multiple times), so this is a day one purchase for us.
Maybe it's time I go and try the 2D Metroids and attempt to finish them.....
Re: Community: Played A Great Switch Game That We Missed? Send Us Your Noms
Re: Crysis Remastered Trilogy Confirmed For A Switch Release This Fall
@the_beaver I just finished Crysis Remastered in the last 2 weeks on the Switch, and I did enjoy it, but there were definitely some bugs in it.
At one point, I hit a bug that stopped my progress and I reached out to the devs and asked for help. The solution was super simple, but it did stop my playthrough at the time.
I ran into other random issues as well, so if they tried it early on, before the patches that could by why?
Re: Switch Pro Rumours Intensify As New Retailer Listing Appears Online
@chipia If you're talking about the PS4 and Xbox not getting upgrades/new systems, the 7 years is off. The PS4 and Xbox both had "Pro" type models released.
The PS4 released in 2013 OG, and then PS4 Pro released in 2016.
This is what most people are assuming/stating the next Switch will be from what I'm gathering (and think as well), not an entirely new PS4 to PS5 system, or Wii U to Switch type system update. More along the 3DS to New 3DS system type update.
Re: Switch Pro Rumours Intensify As New Retailer Listing Appears Online
@BrintaPap At this point, Nintendo could probably release a lower powered Switch and just say, "The Joy-Cons won't drift." and sell another 80 million units.
But seriously, I do hope that is at least one thing fixed on the next system, and think it could be a big selling point to the "core" fans. Even if they don't announce a change, and the Joy-Cons just look slightly different, that might be a silent signal of, "Hey, ugh, we attempted to fix the problem...see?"
Re: Switch Pro Rumours Intensify As New Retailer Listing Appears Online
*the proper way to write a rumor.....
Re: Talking Point: What Are You Playing This Weekend? (May 29th)
Re: Team17 Switch Sale Slashes Game Prices By Up To 90% (North America)
@Strife89 Been playing through the DKC games with my wife, and we're having a blast with them. Will check out this one now, as well as KAZE.
Re: Rumour: Nintendo Switch 'Pro' Reveal Expected Before E3, Out This Year
@QuickSilver88 I agree, the U.S. launch ads for the Wii U were horrible, and imo NoA really dropped the ball with the Wii U overall.
Re: Roblox Dev Open To A Switch Release
Re: Crytek Seems To Be Teasing Something Related To Crysis 2...
Re: Random: Updated Diddy Kong Render (With Fur) Spotted On Nintendo's Japanese Website
Re: Aerial_Knight's Never Yield Dashes Onto Switch In May
@infernogott
I played through the demo one time, and didn't have any issues with it crashing on my first attempt.
Re: Talking Point: What Are You Playing This Weekend? (April 3rd)
Re: Talking Point: What Are You Playing This Weekend? (March 20th)
Speed Limit on the Switch, attempting to better some times.
Animal Crossing, probably. Just setting out some more Mario items.
Final Fantasy VII off the eShop. Just started it last night, and will hopefully be working my way through it this weekend and next week.
Re: Review: Kaze And The Wild Masks - A Brilliant Homage To Donkey Kong Country
Maybe the developers will hop in here, but why is there DLC listed for it on the eShop when the game hasn't even released yet?
From what I'm seeing, it says, "Contains 12 skins" and nothing else in the DLC?
Is the DLC free? Or, is it paid?
Re: Review: Apex Legends - A Great Game Hamstrung By A Compromised Switch Port
Re: Review: Apex Legends - A Great Game Hamstrung By A Compromised Switch Port
@FredsBodyDouble From what I've played, you can spot enemies clear across the map. They don't pop-in, that's only some things in the environment, like maybe bushes/trees, but the enemies can be spotted pretty easily from my playtimes in the matches so far.
Re: Review: Apex Legends - A Great Game Hamstrung By A Compromised Switch Port
Re: Talking Point: What Are You Playing This Weekend? (March 6th)
Speed Limit on the Switch, having a blast with this one.
Animal Crossing: New Horizons, doing daily activities and ordering the Mario items.
Hypercharge Unboxed probably. I just purchased it, so I haven't played the full game yet, but looking forward to seeing how it goes.
Re: The Third Major Update For Hypercharge: Unboxed Is Now Live
It's on sale on the U.S. eShop for $13.99 right now as well.
I played the demo of it and saw potential in it, so it's downloading now.
Re: Review: Lawnmower Game: Racing - The Worst Game On Switch? Quite Possibly
@Cikoltan A bad cup of coffee might still accomplish the job of waking you up though.
Re: Subnautica: Below Zero Dives Onto Switch This May, Alongside The Original Game
@suikoden I could tell from the trailer it seems to have more action going on, and I'm okay with that as long as I can swim/explore some in the water.
Re: Subnautica: Below Zero Dives Onto Switch This May, Alongside The Original Game
Re: Review: Super Mario 3D World + Bowser's Fury - A Superb Mario Adventure With A Bowser Bonus
Re: Poll: Would You Buy Grand Theft Auto V On Wii U?
If you're only a Wii U owner, and looking for an open-world game that you don't have to be super concerned with content, I highly suggest going with LEGO City Undercover.
I am having great fun with the title, and I'm not even sure how far I am into the storyline, but have already put more than 10 hours into the game. With TONS left to do based on my percentage that I have completed.
LEGO City Undercover has:
1) Open-world
2) Tons of unlockables
3) LEGO games humor
Content side:
1) No cursing
2) No nudity
I have also heard that LEGO Batman 2 is an open-ish type world game, but haven't played it, so not really sure about it and how it would compare to LEGO City Undercover. But, LEGO Batman 2 is on the Wii U as well.
For those of you that have been playing GTAV, is there any sort of content filter in the game? And do you have to be concerned with foul language if you are just driving around, meaning, getting cursed at by citizens and the like?
Re: Soapbox: Why Grand Theft Auto V Isn't For Me
I have no desire to play the game, as I see it continuing down a road of immaturity rated as "Mature".
Re: Nintendo to Pull the Plug on Several Online Wii Channels
I use the Nintendo Channel weekly for data reports. While the removal of the Channel will prevent new games like Pandora's Tower from having data reflected in the U.S. (as of now I don't think it's even programmed to reflect it), I hope they will just update it for the Wii U.
Hopefully something like that will happen, but I don't think Nintendo liked some of the data being shown on the WiiWare titles.
Re: Runner 2 Patch Now Available To Download
@Ambassador_Kong @LittleIrves
Awesome, thanks for the feedback! I have really enjoyed the first one (still on the last world), and am looking forward to playing Runner2.
Re: Feature: Luigi's Diary - Extracts
First, awesome write up!
Re: ZombiU Patch Rises From The Grave To Harass The Living
@JAPBOO
I think if you experienced a glitch prior to the patch, that you might need to start a new file. It seems that some that experienced glitches before the patch, and try to continue the game where they first got stuck/glitched, can't continue right now.
I would say just wait another week to see if there's more on it, or just start another file, which should hopefully allow you to play through without any issues.
Re: Runner 2 Patch Now Available To Download
For those of you that have the game, and experienced the freezing issue. Has the patch solved it completely? I held off buying it after seeing early comments about the freezing issue.
Re: Metroid Prime Developer Working On 2D Platformer For Mobile Formats
"Understandably, we asked Behr is a Wii U eShop version was a possibility. While it's not on the cards at present..."
Just raise the KS goal like everybody else, and call it a day?
Re: ZombiU Patch Rises From The Grave To Harass The Living
@Banker-Style
Already posted it and updated it with official word from a Ubisoft rep. on what is supposed to be addressed. Just sent it over to Damien directly.
Re: Review: The Amazing Spider-Man: Ultimate Edition (Wii U)
@JonWahlgren Ah, interesting seeing different times for different folks. Glad to know this version has the DLC included, as that probably will help add a few hours (and some of the modes actually sound fun).
Thanks for the reply!
Re: Review: The Amazing Spider-Man: Ultimate Edition (Wii U)
How many hours did it take to finish the campaign?
Re: Review: ATV Wild Ride 3D (3DS eShop)
@brandonbwii Sonic & All-Stars Racing Transformed is another.
"That Face Racer game that everyone lamblasted?"
Who is everyone? The now defunct Nintendo Power? That's the only review for the game on GameRankings.
Re: Side-Scrolling Fighter Dusty Raging Fist Is Punching Its Way To The Wii U eShop This Year
Looks like it could end up good (animations & effects in the trailer look good, and the design sort of reminded me of Muramasa...just based on the trailer), not sure the genre has really been hit on a lot here recently, so seems like this could have a good audience.
As for this Q&A:
NL: What are your thoughts on the Wii U hardware?
KJ: The hardware is actually very new to us, so we are still exploring it. I think the Wii U GamePad is really cool and innovative."
I would suggest they take a look at Trine 2, as one quick eShop title with lots of control options, including GamePad.
One big thing, I would say is to include Off-TV play...it's absolutely awesome for a parent with little ones.
Re: Activision's Bobby Kotick Is Disappointed With The Launch Of The Wii U
"was asked to break down the install bases of the consoles which are currently available."
It should be noted that he was asked about the Wii, and PS3/360 specifically, not the Wii U. He digressed to the Wii U, when he was originally asked about the Wii and PS3/360 attach rates instead. Perhaps it should be titled "Kotick thinks PS3 and 360 markets are worse than the Wii U for Skylanders, because he diverted question to another console he wasn't even asked about."
Re: Call of Duty: Black Ops II Wii U Update Hits A Rocky Patch
Re: ZombiU Writer Would Add More Melee Weapons If She Had The Chance
This is from GameInformer, so the original source is the magazine and should get credit somewhere in this post since it was the source it was stolen from in typical Nintendo Everything fashion.
Re: Review: The Cave (Wii U eShop)
@SetupDisk Very interesting. Shorter than Trine 2, and priced lower than Trine 2. As long as games in development for 2-ish years though, and cost $60 retail. Makes me think it's not a bad deal.
Thanks for the feedback on your time with it!
Re: Review: The Cave (Wii U eShop)
@Philip_J_Reed About how many hours does it take to finish on a single playthrough?
