Part of the problem in the UK is that there aren't many places left to buy physical games any more. GAME barely exists any more and is overpriced anyway, bigger shops are scaling back or even completely getting rid of their games sections, independent stores are a real rarity. You can still buy physical games online of course, but at that point I'd usually rather just buy it digitally.
Hopefully that Tricolor change will help more players realise that the two attacking teams are on the same side in a Tricolor match. I've lost several because the other attacking team spent more time splatting my team than the defenders.
@HammerGalladeBro It won't need them. The only reason they were needed was because of how long it takes to load data off a disc, which obviously isn't a problem on Switch.
The U and O are made of exactly the same pixels except for the top row. I wonder if that's anything to do with it. I don't see how it would be, but it's interesting to notice.
Back in the Wii U era, Nintendo were working on a Quality of Life device that was apparently related to sleep and had a non-rectangular display. It was assumed cancelled, but I bet it turned into this.
How does Minecraft run on the Switch these days? I stopped playing it a while ago when its performance got pretty bad, but I know some updates in the past improved its performance too so I'm wondering if it's any better now.
There's a "LEGO The Legend of Zelda" category on Lego's online store. Right now it only contains the Deku Tree, but the fact that it exists makes me think that more sets in the future are pretty likely. I can't think of any other examples of a one-off set getting a category all to itself.
The mention of "tweaking the text to better match the Japanese original" makes me wonder if they've changed how a certain character is presented in the English translation. I'm usually not a stickler for keeping everything as close as possible to the Japanese version, but that would be nice to see.
Doesn't necessarily mean that it won't contain much. 2022's presentation which revealed Scarlet and Violet was also about 13 minutes long. Last year's was longer, but spent a lot of time on things like Pokemon Sleep and the Go Plus+. With any luck, a shorter runtime just means they won't waste too much time on mobile game updates.
@DwaynesGames It's a livestream on Twitch where you can play Pokemon through the Twitch chat. For example, if you type "a", it will press A in the game, or if you type "left" the character will move left.
On the original stream 10 years ago, there were literally thousands of people all playing at once, and it was chaos. Lore even got created around things that happened on stream, for example they kept accidentally selecting the Helix Fossil in the item menu during battles, so people started saying we were consulting the Helix Fossil for guidance.
Bad jokes aside, I played this on Game Pass and really recommend it. The characters are great and the story is intriguing, plus the way you progress through it is quite unique.
I don't usually end up watching many GDQ runs live, but I'm very glad I caught this one! Great runners, lots of shenanigans (pun not intended) and has introduced me to a new way of playing Pokemon that I really want to try out myself!
Just checked my copy and it's fine for now. I think I remember hearing some people having save file issues with EU copies of ORAS when it first launched, so maybe this is connected to that.
How playable is Overwatch on a slow internet connection? I've recently moved somewhere where (for now at least) I can only get a 1mbps connection, and it frequently dips below that. Mario Kart seems to mostly work fine, but I tried two matches of Splatoon 2 and both times got a connection error after about 30 seconds. I've been curious about Overwatch for a long time now, but obviously I'm not going to get it if I can't actually play it!
@Equinox I believe that was because for a short while The Cloud hotspots acted as Nintendo Zones. My university had a Cloud hotspot so I used to get loads of Streetpass hits every day!
@arcticblast702 SanderEvers is from the Netherlands. There, as well as in most other European countries, they use commas instead of decimal points, so the size is 107.375MB, or just over 107MB.
@Robo-Knight The replays aren't stored as videos. When you watch one you are seeing the game "re-enact" it in real time by imitating the fighters' movements. As this update changes the way some characters act, they wouldn't react the same way in these re-enactments as they did originally, so the replay would effectively be broken.
Looks like Frostbite have deleted their Wii U tweets. It's a sad state of affairs when even proper companies in the gaming industry resort to fanboy-level bashing.
I'm highly tempted to get Bit.Trip Saga for that price, but I think I remember hearing that it had problems with the music going out of sync. Is that true?
Oh man, I am SO excited about this! It's been over 3 1/2 years since we last got a new Ace Attorney game, and after AAI2 never got translated I was worried the series was dead outside Japan. This is a total insta-buy for me, and hopefully enough people agree with me so it sells well enough to secure the series' future and AAI2 becomes the exception rather than the norm.
Yes yes YES! I haven't been this excited about a game for a long, long time! I'll be downloading this as soon as it comes out! I just hope it sells enough to ensure that any future Ace Attorney titles are localised as well...
Weirdly it's the 3DS version I've been having trouble finding, not the Wii U version. My local GAME has had stock of the Wii U version since launch day, but I haven't seen a single copy of the 3DS version anywhere!
I suspect that this is more about reducing production costs than them feeling the need to make the Wii smaller. I don't think any of us really expected them to stop producing the Wii yet - they're still producing DS consoles almost 2 years after the 3DS launched! This is probably their way of ensuring that they can do so as efficiently as possible.
I don't see why everyone thinks this is such a crazy rumour. They released a smaller NES after the SNES launched and then did the same with the SNES after the N64 launched, not to mention the Game Boy Micro coming well after the DS.
I don't think that they'll stop producing the Wii after the Wii U launches, the same as they still produce DS consoles post-3DS. A mini version would probably reduce their production costs so they could focus more on Wii U.
Lots of them are the same sizes, specifically exactly 512MB/1GB. It looks like they're using the size of the cartridge the game uses rather than the size of the ROM itself. I'm not sure why they'd do that - maybe there's a technical reason for it but it seems like it could cause a lot of wasted space to me.
I still can't believe that they withhold all profits until a certain sales figure is met. Is that standard practice or is this something unique to WiiWare?
In this interview from yesterday GAME's Group Marketing Director said the following: Can you guarantee pre-orders for games that you are currently selling? Anna-Marie Mason: Absolutely.
Or not, as it turned out. Honestly, I'm never pre-ordering anything from GAME again. Their service has really been going downhill lately, with pre-orders arriving days late without any explanation. This is the last straw for me. It's cheaper to go elsewhere, anyway.
Does anyone know if this is a dual-layered disc or not? Xenoblade was in Europe because it included both the English and Japanese voice tracks, but I've not heard whether Last Story includes both as well.
Between Wario Land this week and Rolling Western next we've got some great eShop titles coming now! I've been quite interested in this since E3 - hopefully I'll be able to get it soon.
Just felt I should point out that Mutant Mudds not being out in Europe yet isn't Nintendo's fault. Renegade Kid haven't been able to submit it yet. Read the following quote from this article: “The release of Mutant Mudds outside of the US will be delayed. This is due to Renegade Kid being a small studio. We have to take it one step at a time. Unfortunately, releasing a game in different countries is a time-consuming and costly business. But, rest assured that we will get Mutant Mudds into the UK as soon as possible.”
The way I interpret this is that they have no way of patching the game so fixing the glitch would involve putting out a different version of the game on cartridges. This would disadvantage anyone who has the original version as their glitch wouldn't be fixed. Hopefully Nintendo will have a proper patchng system in place on Wii U - in the last few months we've had this and Skyward Sword, two of Nintendo's biggest games, suffer glitches which should be easily fixable.
