Re: Video: New Switch Hardware Won't Stop Bad Ports

ChickenJoe

@Paraka I slogged thru some pretty bad comments, but I finally found someone willing to say what you said.

I know 7 people with PS5s. They were my Destiny 2 PC crew and I didn't convert to PS5 with them, due to price. They all said "but the exclusives and AAAs your PC won't run soon!"

Years on, they don't play any of those games and never really did. They all re-gifted eachother the same copy of Death Stranding as a birthday present as a joke, because none of them could stand to play it.

Re: Talking Point: Which Animation Studios Should Tackle Nintendo's Other Franchises?

ChickenJoe

i'm gonna be a jerk and say screw basically all of these american studios.

to me, none of them are well-equipped to the task because the audiences of video games are not the audiences of movies, and these companies will never be able to grapple with that because movie audiences are always what they will care about — they are big budget companies with very little creative elbow room because of their audiences.

But, beyond just being video game stories, Nintendo's IPs are inherently foreign IPs. So, instead, let nintendo's budget fuel a truly creative, non-Hollywood studio, foreign studio like Cartoon Saloon (Song of the Sea). There are many others, both traditional animation and CGI companies, to turn to. Hollywood has screwed up these IPs enough.

Re: Blizzard Has Temporarily Removed Two Heroes From Overwatch 2

@Malakhim24 I'm gonna speak for others and just say that the "anti-woke" crowd has had years of being riled up about making something out of nothing, and now they find targets for their angst.

If it could be proven, beyond a doubt, to the passive observer that the characters aren't politically-driven, the anti-woke would not change their stance — just their rationale.

@turntSNACO The whole argument that it's pandering assumes the character designers and artists are equivalent with the management and executive types, who were largely the abusive and public image-minded ones. Do those people get final say in designs, etc? Sure, maybe, but that doesn't mean it was their idea.

Re: Fired Nintendo Worker Comes Forward With An Account Of Their Dismissal

ChickenJoe

@Browny It kind of isn't odd. Unionization questions are much more common lately and there is nothing stating the meeting was public. Bowser's predecessor commented on unions during his tenure iirc, and definitely has after leaving.

What is far more odd is that the lawyers would take the time to say anything. If they hadn't, this would be on no one's radar.

Re: Reggie Talks About Nintendo's Slow Adoption Of Online Play

ChickenJoe

I get that nintendo doesn't have to care with their own titles, but this is a hardware issue. It's not about first party titles having online capability, but third parties suffering immensely by relying on basic assumptions like chat, etc, that aren't there when ported to nintendo. I have avoided games on Switch in favor of pc because I knew the online functionality was not just worse, but made it useless.
