Re: 'WATA Certified' Copy Of Sonic The Hedgehog Sells For Record Price

Bod2019

I still have my original copy in mint condition with manual, and the poster (which every Sega game came with during that era), I even have the ‘Sega’ seal sticker on the edge of the case, I’m cashing in to pay my mortgage off 🤔😁😀.

Seriously, there is no way this very ‘common’ game is worth this kind of money, it is just sensationalism to spike interest and prices by a company that works of commission of sales.

I regularly buy games, to play, and this type of thing, along with the ‘retro’ bandwagon is, for me, making it a financially unviable hobby to continue with, and will push more a more people toward illegitimate means of playing titles.

I’m hoping the bubble bursts, if only for my own selfish gains.

Wow, jump on the guy who expresses an opinion.

I don't particularly care all that much to be honest, I exist and generally am kept busy with that.

For what it's worth I don't particularly see the point of people owning guns for 'leisure/pleasure' seems to be a recipe for disaster, which I believe is a pretty well proven point given the state of gun crime on the US.

I have no evidence, no research or for that matter any further insight than what I stated before which is simply, via experiencing a game trying it's best to simulate a real life act (ie hunting) I could well 'imagine' someone may then think 'you know one day I may be tempted to give this sport a go'. Because let's face it, it's not that much of a stretch for someone to make. Certainly less of a stretch than someone playing GTA and deciding to replicate some of that content.

Like I stated at the top of this comment, it is merely a comment, nothing I say has to be taken as fact. Fact of the matter is people do shoot animals for sport, it's their hobby, I'm probably a bit soft and just think is it really necesary?

@Cobalt

Sadly I agree, this could have the potential to act as a 'gateway' to folk whoy not otherwise of thought about maiming/killing defenceless animals. I don't advocate those actions at all.

@John_Deacon

If I remember rightly my Mum ordered it for me from a home catalogue at the time, took ages to arrive after launch i n the first place, so never bothered ordering a replacement. Seems some carts had iffy SVP chips, everytime I tried playing mine the car was driving in the sky, the track polygons weren't anywhere to be seen, no amount of reseting would solve it, a gutted 12/13 yr old I was.

@John_Deacon

I was an avid reader of computer magazines during this time. I remember getting caught up in the hype. Actually seeing it in motion on a shop demo unit, that was when you understood the hype and magic. I'd cycle with a friend into town, after school just to have a quick play.

In the end when I finally got my own copy of VR it was corrupt/faulty, never got a replacement. Until 5 yrs ago I picked an ebay copy, if Polymega works out I might get to play it

Re: Nintendo's Reggie Fils-Aimé Talks About His Feelings On Leaks In Gaming

Bod2019

I think this whole conversation of leaks is maybe missing the point.

To me it seems Reggie and Nintendo have got wind of people feeling a little underwhelmed by their E3 offering/presentation and have since made several public declarations regarding "more things to reveal in coming months" or let's blame the leaks for spoiling our presentation.

It all seems like a public front to mitigate the luke warm reception of their wares.

The Switch is flourishing, thankfully, but it does seem that Nintendo have been clearly caught out by their own success, a barage of Wii U games moved over to the Switch as a port or probably at a later stage in it's development worked well for the first 16 mths but now things are slowing up and gaps in prominent releases have appeared.

It will be resolved and they'll catch up, but stop blaming leaks for spoiling your reveals. This surprise culture wasn't even a thing in the 90's (that I remember) yet Nintendo managed to succeed then.

Everyone seems to want to follow the 'Apple' bandwagon of surprising headline grabbing announcements at conferences, maybe just concentrate on supplying a decent product and support in a timely manner.

"From the made that made a playable coat"

So some previous hack developed AI, using this intelligence it decided to create a gaming coat to solve humankinds shortfalls. Once completed it had time on it's hands, recognising the declining level of eyesight in the general population it decided a larger screened Switch was the way forward, by increasing it's bulk it's secondary purpose of reducing muscle atrophy and osteoporosis was fulfilled.

The tag line is relevant see, you just need to know the background story, that's all.

Re: Rumour: The SNK Neo Geo Mini Is A Tiny Arcade Cabinet With 40 Built-In Games

Bod2019

Just did some fact finding, seems like a pretty legit leak, found this image on SNK's webpages:

https://www.snk-corp.co.jp/us/wp/wp-content/uploads/2017/12/miskgf_3.jpg

An image of Zhihui GE, Chairman of SNK Corporation, presenting Mr Bader Al-Asaker with a gold version of the Neo Geo Mini, due to some collaboration.

Here's the article:

Clearly this device is small, but genuine images it would seem, if not the games list...,.

Re: Rumour: The SNK Neo Geo Mini Is A Tiny Arcade Cabinet With 40 Built-In Games

Bod2019

I'm intrigued by this, but I can't help but wonder if some of the details are incorrect. Proportionally a 3.5" (diagonal) screen with the controls fitting pretty much within the same width as that screen, sounds very cramped. The width of a 3.5" screen must only be around 3" or so.

Also, due to the nature of play with a stick setup, you wont be as closely positioned to the screen, making that screen size even less likely a viable option.

I've no issues with the concept, I'm just hoping they've got the screen measurement wrong in the leak.

Easiest way to know would be to scale out the sizes of the known connector sizes (hdmi, usb etc..,.).
