Re: Talking Point: How Does Switch 2's Launch Price Compare To Past Nintendo Systems?

Bengals76

The Nintendo launched in 1985 for $149.99 in the United States. The system came with two controllers, a light gun, Super Mario Brothers, and Duck Hunt. Adjusted for inflation that equals $449.55 in 2025. 🧐

This article is very interesting, and it shows the Switch 2 is in line with other releases, according to inflation. 😃

However, now you have to factor in annual salaries adjusted for inflation, that’s where the true cost comes in. 😳

The average annual salary for 1985 in the United States was $24,910. Adjusted forinflation for 2025 that comes out to $74,660. The median salary in 2025 in the United States is $59,384.

Re: Nintendo Of America President Says Tariffs "Not Factored" Into Switch 2 Price

@Mallow I agree with everything you said up until the point where you said, “Hopefully enough pressure and outrage ensues on/within the US government to reverse these ridiculous tariffs.” In my opinion these tariffs are needed. Other countries put tariffs on us so that we cannot compete and sell our products in their country. What’s wrong or unfair with a level playing field? Just look around America. How many cities are in decay, how many homes are crumbling? Nobody’s wages keep up with inflation. The middle class has almost been completely wiped out. We need to bring good paying jobs back to America, and have other countries by our product at the same rate that we buy theirs. That increases demand, and drives up wages. Forget the Nintendo game console, we’re trying to save America, before we go bankrupt. Hang in there. There’s more to life than video games. USA!!!

I’ve got a problem with the holidays being called turkey day and toy day. As for me and my house we thankfully celebrate Thanksgiving, and we rejoice that Jesus came at Christmas. It’s not about the turkey or the toys. Don’t let the world make this holiday shallow with birds and toys. Games have no problems showing blood and gore but they want to take the good things out. Not in my house!
