Re: Switch 2 Games Cost A Bit More Than You're Probably Expecting

Batty5

Elsewhere they are saying $80 for digital, $90 for Physical for Mario Kart. I'm better with $70, $80. I'll be getting the bundle anyway, so it'll be $50 for me. Seeing the Donkey Kong at $69 physical, again, a relief. I was ready to go up to $60-$70 for Switch 2 games. I'm fine with going just digital if that is what it takes.

Re: Poll: What Review Score Would You Give Zelda: Tears Of The Kingdom?

Batty5

It's a 10. It's better than Breath of The Wild. And that was a 10. Other people can rate it lower, that's fine, it's their opinion. But they are all wrong.
Game of the Year? Game of the generation, whatever generation Switch is in. It's better than any PS4 or PS5 game I've played. Better than any Xbox Series or One game I've played.

Re: Shiren The Wanderer Gets Physical Release, Pre-Orders Start January 12th

Batty5

@COVIDberry Having played both of them, the gameplay style is very similar between the two. Shiren is a bit more of a traditional fantasy setting. It's also pretty tough. I am enjoying it quite a bit, more than Tangledeep. The skill system is quite different, in that skills(abilities) are only used at night, when weapons are ineffective. But there are scrolls, seals, staves and other items that can be used in place of skills(randomly found, of course). I think if you are a fan of Tangledeep, you'll enjoy this one as well.

Re: Japanese Charts: Ring Fit Adventure Beats Marvel's Avengers To Number One

Batty5

I love Marvel's Avengers. Really good story, and combat is fun, especially once you upgrade your skills. Definitely understand it won't be for everyone.

I'd like to pick up Ring Fit Adventure, if it is ever available again.

Animal Crossing in 3rd place? I am sure Nintendo must be really disappointed in its performance. But what could they expect? It is missing so much content. They should have released it when everything was ready. The last statement is not to be taken seriously.

Re: Animal Crossing: New Horizons' Second Summer Update Adds Save Data Backup, And It's Coming Earlier Than Planned

Batty5

Cool update. I've truly enjoyed how new(or returning) features have been added to the game. The game was sold as having regular updates, so the package includes these. Just because Nintendo actually created a game promising regular updates and is delivering on them, unlike many companies, doesn't mean it sold an incomplete package. Over 350 hours on my Island, and still playing every day.

Re: Talking Point: Does Animal Crossing: New Horizons' Rollout Of Event Updates Make It Feel 'Incomplete'?

Batty5

It's my most played game of the last several years. I've found plenty to do, and am still truly enjoying it, pushing 350 hours. I felt it was a complete game when it launched, and now it is just getting bigger and better. The seasonal events have not been as interesting as the additions such as the art gallery and diving. I could not stand the Wedding event, for some reason. But I could happily skip it. I love the approach they are taking with the game.

Re: Animal Crossing: New Horizons Summer Updates Will Add Swimming, Diving And More

Batty5

@SortingHat Yeah, I think New Horizons is really being held back by the save system, Nintendo must be really disappointed. But seriously, I doubt they are going to update that, just because it would be a major overhaul of how the game works.

I am so happy to see swimming and diving coming back. Super pumped! Will early August be Tortimer's Island? That would be awesome.

Re: Japanese Charts: Animal Crossing Denies Xenoblade Chronicles A Debut Week At Number One

Batty5

@Friendly Taste is subjective, and no matter how many Jrpgs one plays, your opinion will not determine whether a game is defining or not. It will be the aggregate of many opinions, reviews and feedback over time that finalizes the legacy of titles. Sentiment about Xenoblade Chronicles is that it is a defining title, especially of its release time.

That's not to say your opinion on the game is not valid, relevant or of interest. It's just to say that the tide is against you. I know the feeling. I really don't understand the appeal of the first two Fallout games, I could never get into either of them, even being a huge rpg fan. I've come to accept that my taste differs from the mainstream on those titles.

Re: Review: The Outer Worlds - Obsidian's Fallout-Style RPG Is Worth A Look On Switch

Batty5

I am glad I have a PS4 for games like this. Framerate and graphical clarity are important because combat is real time first person. Chunky framerates throw off your aim. For RPG fans, the game is worth playing even in these conditions. In this case, however, the Switch should be the console of last resort, as it is an objectively better experience on every other platform, where framerates are much more stable.

Re: Poll: Xenoblade Chronicles: Definitive Edition Is Out Today On Switch, Are You Getting It?

Batty5

Played an hour last night after it unlocked for me. Very happy to be playing it again. I forgot some of the weird characters hanging around in Colony 9 at the beginning. Last time I played, which was the first time, I guess I was too busy learning the systems of the game to pay much attention this early on. This time, I am just running around, talking to everyone. Love the little perk you get from being recognized as having played Xenoblade Chronicles 2.

Re: Talking Point: Are You Suffering From Animal Crossing: New Horizons Fatigue?

Batty5

Honestly not tired of it at all. I still make time to play other games, and have since the beginning. But there is still so much I need to do. Got a good third of my Island that still needs dressing up. Don't have a complete wing of the Museum yet. Need to get more friendly with my Islanders. Still some river fish I need. My living room needs some love. Still have clothing I need. Debating whether or not to pay that last loan. And I haven't even started designing clothes yet. Just so much to do!

Re: Japanese Charts: Animal Crossing: New Horizons Surpasses 4 Million Boxed Sales In Japan Alone

Batty5

@Cool_Squirtle I think it is the lack of urgency that makes the Animal Crossing chill. This one more than previous ones, even. You get to choose the pace you advance things, well, unless you are stuck waiting for buildings to get built and such. You get to focus on what you enjoy at that moment. Plus the social aspects. Also, I think there is a feeling of connection right now that Animal Crossing is playing in the current circumstances, of knowing that you are part of something with millions of other people that is filling a need for many people.

It really is a perfect storm for the game to go huge. It's the most welcoming game in the series, the Switch is a hot platform that has hit mainstream for Nintendo, and the isolation so many people have been dealing with, not to mention the stress.

All that said, it is definitely not for everyone, and never has been. I totally get why it's not a game for you. A lot of people just don't like the gameplay it offers, which is cool. I am super happy to see its success, because I have adored the series since the beginning and I think it deserves it, but I am pretty surprised by how big a hit it has become, too.

I do admit, the turnip prices bring me stress, but that is stress of my own making.

Re: Japanese Charts: Animal Crossing Overtakes Smash Ultimate To Become Switch's Best-Selling Game

Batty5

Sort of funny people talking about how Smash is so much more niche than Animal crossing, so it is no surprise that Animal Crossing is beating it. Smash has to settle with being "only" the second best selling game on the system in Japan. Such a niche position. Lol.

I am not throwing any shade, I totally get the point and agree, just thought it was funny. I love both series, along with most other Nintendo First Party games.

Re: Animal Crossing: New Horizons Players Are Using Nook Miles To Buy Villagers On The Internet

Batty5

I don't see any problem with this, from the perspective of the game. If people want certain villagers, they are going to find a way to get them, and other people will find a way to exploit the situation. That is human nature. It's not part of the game, though. It's not like loot boxes or real money auction houses.

Personally, I enjoy the randomness of the villagers showing up in the game, and there is no specific villager I feel I must have. My daughters have Merengue and Bob in their town just from mystery Islands they have visited. My only truly cool villager is Tia, but That is cool with me. Other people feel differently, which is cool too.
