Re: Miyamoto Thinks Mario Movie's Critical Reception Contributed To The "Buzz"

Well, the reviews are about the artistic quality of a work of art (plot structure, character, vision, etc.). But, people generally do not care or can not understand the quality of the work of art. Other factors such as nostalgia or marketing or trust or goodwill or consistency with what is currently fashionable are more effectual in their decisions. If Mario movie sells 3 billion, still it is not a proof that the movie is a good peace of art. Human stupidity is infinite, and you can make insane amount of money out of that. The Marvel movies prove that point. Mario movie is a great commercial product, but a poor work of art.

Re: Best Of 2022: Which Is The Absolute Best Nintendo Console Generation?

Axlroselm

Objectively (that is, nostalgia and taste aside), It is SNES. That console had all of the factors of a successful console: 1. powerful hardware, 2. relatively long life span, 3. great third party support, 4. great first party games (as in most N consoles), 5. tons of exclusive third party games, 6. smart way of increasing hardware power (=handling mid-generation crisis) by implementing chips into the cart and keeping itself relevant till the end of the generation.

Switch could have been the best Nintendo console, but its hardware limitation and lack of third-party AAA support and no mid-generation upgrades disqualify it.

Re: Best Contra Games On Nintendo Systems

Best Contra game is Hard Corps. It was the natural perfection of all the things the Classic Contra stood for: badass bosses, killer soundtrack, dystopian atmosphere, hardcore run n gun difficulty, etc. It also added features such as multiple endings, and multiple characters. Only as a joke, or as a Nintendo only player who did not played Hard Corps in it heyday, one could rank Contra Rebirth higher than Hard Corps.

Re: Talking Point: Nintendo Switch OLED, Worth The Upgrade? Team NL Has A Chat

Steam Deck is attractive to those Switch owners who are craving for a real Switch hardware upgrade. So, it affects Switch sales in the long run, since nearly all Switch games (except for first parties of course) are available on Steam, and Deck is able to run them way better. Excitment for Steam Deck shows that there was a good market for a Switch pro. Now, Nintendo has to share handheld market (not the Nintendo market) with Valve.

You have to face it. it will come. Gaming is, in the final analysis, a technological industry, and it is the nature of such a industry to reach more and more customers by progress in technology and removing obsolete and costly mediums. It is "progressive," whether you like it or not. It will not respect your nostalgia or old ways. You will get used to it, just like you got used to movie and music streaming.
