I like Stardew Valley, but there is no shortage of farm games, to which I'm deeply invested in like 3-4 others, so this chocolate shop management feels like a more fresh direction. It's got Moonlighter vibes, but the Stardew guy is a way better developer. I loved the concept of Moonlighter, but that game was chock full of item management glitches. When the same item disappeared on me twice, I was done.
@thinkhector For me, I felt Kirby's Return To Dreamland was way better than Star Allies. But I also felt Star Allies was better than Triple Deluxe and Planet Robobot. The way the backgrounds have a haze to create the illusion of depth of field really bugged me and came across as lazy. I also wish it was more like 64 or Forgotten Land, with level design that was more organic to the world around it. It's just 90's Kirby with a fresh coat of paint, but not as interesting. The way co-op was with using the enemies as characters was great though.
The best GCN games: Kirby Air Ride, F-Zero GX, Custom Robo, Paper Mario: TTYD, Pokemon Colosseum, Pokemon XD, etc. All of the good Mario Party's: 4, 5, 6, 7, & 8. All of the Tales Of games on PS2/PS3. Fantasy Life & basically the top 50 3DS games. Kirby 64 and Pokemon Stadium 2 on N64. Every Advance Wars.
@invictus4000 I've watched a lot of Anime, and I don't think there's actually a way to design it that doesn't look generic. People complain there's too much boob and butt in XC2, and that made it generic and pandering like a gatcha game. They get rid of 80% of that for XC3 and now people say it's generic. It still looks stylistically similar to XC1/2 though, which it should as it's a continuation of the same world.
My first 2 games were Harvest Moon 64 and Super Mario 64. I was 6 years old, my older cousins who lived far away were staying with us for a week and they brought their N64. I mostly played Harvest Moon, as growing digital crops and raising digital chickens was mind-blowing to me. Also Super Mario 64 was a bit to complicated for me at the time.
Never heard of Klonoa, but I don't have a PS1. I played the demo yesterday and thought it was great. One of the better platformers I've played. Maybe I'll get it if I can clear out my backlog.
Straight up stole Edea from Bravely Second gave her an eyepatch and put her in their game. They even got the hair ribbon and the exact color of her outfit. And I'm totally okay with it.
Because the previous Zelda games were so realistic, eyeroll. It looks way closer to Zelda I, Link To The Past, Awakening, Ages/Seasons than OOT or MM. They make 3 "realistic" games, Zelda II, OOT, MM, and now that's standard Zelda graphics, lol.
@Alpha008 It would because the game looks boring. I like in the game play video where you go through this whole complicated process of climbing a tower just to grind down a rail and end up exactly where you were. I don't get it. I watched the fight against the sentient cylinder and was thinking, no Sonic game has managed to be this boring before.
@Ryu_Niiyama I understood what you were saying. You think Cadence integrates the rhythm aspect better, and it likely does. This is just a regular top-down action game with a rhythm gimmick. Like how Touhou Spell Bubble is a puzzle game with a rhythm gimmick. If you want a pure rhythm game, I agree Cadence is the better option.
@Ryu_Niiyama I haven't played cadence, but from what I've seen of it, the games aren't too similar. This is more like Gungeon, Diablo, or Hades minus the roguelite stuff. You match your attacks to the rhythm but not your movement.
I bought this on Friday, so far I have about 5 hours on it. It's a pretty fun game and the rhythm aspect is not overwhelmingly obnoxious. You just have to time your shots/slashes with the (crotchets) quarter notes. If you miss too many times your weapon has to cool down. The gameplay loop is good, but not groundbreaking. I'd give it a 7 or 8. It's got a lot of music too which is nice.
@Dav Then there's me who only bought it because of how insane Dunkey made it out to be, and I was not disappointed. I only wish I would have saw his video on Octopath Traveler before I bought that. That game was extremely disappointing.
@Acampbell128 And so did Colosseum and probably 10+ other spin-offs. How about: Pokemon Channel, Pokemon Ranger series, Pokemon Stadium 1 and 2, Pokemon Battle Revolution... etc...? Clearly this list was not researched in the least.
@Cheez Someone said that the Pokemon Arceus sales number listed is from when it was only out for 2 weeks, so it's definitely way higher. Pokemon Conquest sold 1 million from what I can find, so yes it outsold that. And I'm sure it outsold Pokemon Coliseum, XD, Pokemon Channel, Hey You Pikachu!... etc. And in their annotation, they said not counting Crystal, Emerald, or Platinum. I'm calling BS on the whole thing. It's the worst selling if you ignore these 15 games, basically.
@SeantheDon29 To me it looks a lot like the Torna one. It had them too but they were way easier to get because there were no core crystals. Just the 9 characters.
@AndyC_MK111 To me Xenoblade is what you play while also rotating other games, because of the length and how much content they have. People rushing them in advance of 3's release is really dumb. It's more of a TV series than movies that can be binged super quick before the new sequel hits the theatres.
@Gamer_Zeus Xenoblade Chronicles 2 and Zelda: Breath Of The Wild are developed by Monolith and are probably some of the best looking games on the Switch. Also it's Anime styled graphics, what do you expect it to look like, Halo?
@AlexHarford I don't remember any tutorials in Fortnite. It just throws you in an arena and you have to live as long as possible. I only played it for 5 hours or so. It was just a run of the mill shooter, nothing particularly special about it other than it being free. And your character is basically randomly assigned to you at the beginning of each match which is really stupid.
@Wexter Shame on you for liking the SP versions, you're supposed to be complaining about how useless and unfun they are. It's like you think games are meant to be played or something.
@BeefSanta If you're looking for any more 7/10 Metroidvania type games, try Phoeonotopia Awakening. I put roughly 65 hours into it. Kind of a mix of Zelda II and BotW.
@TommyTendo Pokemon doesn't need Nuzlocke to be good, it just needs most trainers to actually have 5 or 6 Pokemon. And to add some kind of variable that checks the average level of your Pokemon so you can battle against a different loadout by your level. And they need to have the AI use real strategies instead of tailwhip spam.
@Snatcher These graphics are way more advanced than the last one though, which actually was on the 3DS. It looks like late Wii games or early PS3 games such as Tales Of Graces, Atelier Rorona, or Xenoblade Chronicles.
@Fizza I don't see why you wouldn't be able to as physical uses the same icons as digital. You can even delete the icons for physical and they'll come back when you put the cartridge in, though you have to download updates again. I did this with Let's Go Eevee and Yoshi when I was done and wouldn't go back to them for a while .
@Tyranexx NSMB2 is definitely the worst Mario game. People don't like Sunshine because it's really hard. And there are about 10 shine sprites that are basically impossible to do, probably because they ran out of development time. Even when you solve them you're not sure what you did. And I cannot for the life of me find the last 4 blue coins. But I think the personality, ambience, music, and the turbo nozzle more than make up for that.
Breath Of The Wild doesn't have music. Animal Crossing soundtrack is underwhelming. Xenoblade Chronicles 2 has really great music and should be listed.
@-wc- One such example of this averaging being stupid is that Undertale is ranked higher than Mario Kart 8 and Animal Crossing: New Horizons, and literally all other Switch games that aren't Breath Of The Wild and Mario Odyssey. It's just a 5-hour long witty and memey RPG with some replay value. I enjoyed it, but it ain't a filet mignon of gaming.
@PhhhCough That's what I thought was the clear and obvious evolution of the series, but Pokemon prints money just by existing, so they have no reason to make it something great.
@shoeses Sorry, I thought it was gen 3 that added that. Also, it doesn't matter what they say, Arceus isn't a mainline game because it's neither a remake nor set in a new region, and there aren't 2 versions that you trade and battle between. I put it in the same category as Stadium, Colliseum, XD.
@PhhhCough The gameplay of Pokemon has not changed since Ruby & Sapphire on the GBA. There have been no upgrades, improvements, or reworks. Sun/Moon were decent, Sword/Shield were terrible. I didn't play Legends Of Arceus, but I want to because spin-off Pokemon games are typically better. I will never play mainline Pokemon games again, though. It's a complete waste of money, especially with Xenoblade Chronicles 3 coming.
@MetroidBossesRuinThe I 100% agree with your entire assessment. The EMMI were really not that hard to overcome, most times I got caught were purely from goofing off, and trying to master counter timing for them. The bosses like you said were the real block to progress and did cause me to quit for a few days at a time. They have way too much HP like in Monster Hunter, so they're far more boring than any EMMI. To contrast this, I've been playing through Zero Mission recently and those bosses are significantly easier.
@dkxcalibur They've actually regressed since X&Y too. Alpha Sapphire and Ruby I quit 20 hours in. I liked Sun & Moon enough to finish the main content, but played it way less than X&Y. And all the great improvements made in X&Y were ripped out in Sun & Moon and Sword/Shield. They don't even have the online trading exchange anymore... Sword/Shield was so bad that there is no way I'd even consider buying Scarlet/Violet.
