Nintendo Download: 16th February 2012 (Europe)

Posted by James Newton

Metal Gear demo and Mario Land 3

A decent array of titles across the formats this week, although no, there's still no VVVVVV or Sakura Samurai: Art of the Sword. What is available is listed below for your viewing pleasure.

3DS Virtual Console

Wario Land: Super Mario Land 3 (Game Boy, Nintendo, £3.60/€4) — Completing the Super Mario Land trilogy on 3DS Virtual Console comes Wario's star turn in what's still considered to be one of the best Wario platformers. We'll have a full review to let you know if it's worth your bucks or not.

3DS Demos

Metal Gear Solid: Snake Eater 3D (Konami, free) — Try out Snake's forthcoming adventure for nothing with your own slice of Snake Eater 3D, out this Thursday.

GO Series: Undead Storm (Gamebridge, 200pts) — This unassuming little shooter is a blast in local multiplayer, not to mention a steal at 200 Points. Check out our GO Series: Undead Storm review for the full lowdown.

Successfully Learning Mathematics: Year 4 (Tivola, 500pts) — You know what to expect: maths, vampires, minigames and a review by Thomas Whitehead. You'll get your fill of all these in the very near future.

Nintendo Video

Star Wars Episode I: The Phantom Menace 3D trailer — Your last chance to see this trailer in 3D. The film's out now though, of course.

WiiWare Demo

Aya and the Cubes of Light (Object Vision Software, full game: 1000pts) — Object Vision's twisty-turny puzzle platformer is worth investigating, but the 1000 Point price tag may have put some off. The free demo available this Thursday should help to ease your decision, especially when combined with our Aya and the Cubes of Light review.

That's your lot this week European folks. What do you make of your line-up this week?

Looks like a good week. Now I'm full of expectation regarding the unannounced future VC releases.

Awesome stuff! Have been looking forward to Wario Land ever since I bought a 3DS!

Great line-up.
Now i wouldn't mention this but Sakura Samurai's pedometer use makes the wait for it even harder. Aside from its gameplay that makes me crave for it like crazy. I can't wait to start up this every day before i go out instead of Nintendogs + Cats which i don't really play at all.
The MGS demo, Undead Storm and the Aya demo will be definite downloadeds. Wario Land only if the batteries of my cart don't work anymore the day i want to play it.

PS: Since Wii VC games seem to be a bi-weekly affair now i think we should only really judge the shop lineups once or twice a month.

Don't get excited just yet! NintendoLife tells us to wait for the review to find out if its worth our cash!

Does anyone know if Sakura Samurai is even coming to PAL regions? I really want it... I have a lot of unused eShop money in my account waiting to be spent.

Oh how I dominated WarioLand as a little child. xD After getting the best price from the Jinn, I tried to collect as few things as I could. Wario wasnt pleased with his new cuckoo-clock-house.

Geonjaha said:

@Bass_X0 Yes but the reviewers opinion isnt always the same as that of the buyer. Also when it comes to VC games, people may have had the game before - and if not, there's plenty of game info out there by now for GB games.

Man, I hope this comes out soon in the US. And while their at it, I hope we get WarioLand II and III (WarioLand III was my all-time favorite GBC game), as well as the Virtual Boy version.

Still waiting for some more good 3DSWare games to hit the PAL regions.
At least there's the Metal Gear demo, so that's something for me to download this week.

Late said:

Good looking week although I'm still waiting for Sakura Samurai before I buy anything from eShop.

Jese_1 said:

Yay for Wario Land! Been waiting since the Japanese release for this one. Now Nintendo must just release Wario Land II and III as well because I never got a chance to play those.

NintyMan said:

Good, Wario Land! I'm pretty sure it'll be worth my bucks, so I'm getting it as soon as it comes to NA.

GARF13LD said:

Would've liked both the 3DSWare titles mentioned but I am sure we will get them sooner or later crosses fingers but I am so pumped for the Metal Gear Demo, it's one of the many reasons I bought a 3DS.

Wario Land might also require a download as I have not yet downloaded any Pee Green games yet, so this might be my first.

ImDiggerDan said:

Happy Birthday to me, it seems. I'll be getting Wario Land and giving the demo a try, even though I've never enjoyed a Metal Gear game since the 2D versions.

FonistofCruxis said:

Awesome! Wario land looks like the best game on the Game boy, I'll definitely get that at some point.

James plays Animal Crossing like it’s going out of fashion.
You have no soul.....
Someone get this man a Sonic pushie before Nintendo takes full control over him, we're not losing another one to them!

CosmoXY said:

Good update Europe, let's get that goodness here in the good ol' US of A.

I loved Wario Land, but still have it on original cartridge. I will get Undead Storm though and I'm curious to the MGS demo.

Good week? No 3DSware, no WiiWare, no VC... one good old game makes a good week? meh Ninty, meh.

SPOILER ALERT! It's totally worth your bucks or not! Every last cent!
Easily one of the all-time classic gems of Game Boy gaming...with or without the infamous Debug.

I've still got WarioLand and my Old Gameboy but I may download it for convenience , fantastic game!
I'm looking forward to the MGS demo and I may check out the Star Wars vid just to see what the 3D is like (I already know the film is rubbish!).
I was hoping for Sakura Samurai but I can wait. Good update all in all!!

I may get WL, when it comes Stateside. But first, I'm gonna get Retrobits. My first purchase.

@GamerDude Said with a hint of sarcasm, but never mind. In all truth, the only game I'm jealous of is VVVVVV. I'm not overly excited about Mutant Mudds. I know I'll download it and probably enjoy it, but I'm not too fussed right now. More than happy with recent "lost nuggets" such as Kirby's Block Ball and Wario Land for the time being.

Shotgunryugan said:

I can't wait,to see if Wario land comes to the US.

The only Wario game i had was the micro game collection on the Gamecube, but i never had a 2D side scroller.

But even if it comes,i still need to buy and play Mario land 1 and 2,i've never played those before
