Malkeor commented on Atari Founder Nolan Bushnell Claims Nintendo "...:

GameInformer did a response to this, and i'll quote the editor that did:
"It's true that Nintendo's Wii U has failed to live up to sales expectations, and Nintendo's relevance in the handheld market also seems to be waning. I don't want to say I agree with Bushnell, but Nintendo does face some very serious challenges in the next few years. I'd hate to see Ninendo become obsolete, because they've been an integral part of the gaming landscape for decades, but the industry has continued to evolve and Nintendo rarely keeps pace with modern innovations. Sure the company is innovative in it's own way, but the Wii U hasn't caught enough interest to justify its production. I hope Nintendo has a few surprises up it's sleve for the next year, because I still want to believe that Nintendo is a champ that can climb back to the top."

He has a point you know. It doesn't matter how much you love Nintendo's games, there is a truth to the hardware side of things.
Besides this guy WOULD know about he knows first hand. He's not just some old fool speaking nonsense.

Malkeor commented on Take An In-Depth Look At What's Under The Wii ...:

I'm tired of people pulling the power card. Sooner of later people have to realize that gameplay/controls/ways to play and online features are what truly makes a system stand out from the rest. In the best way possible.

I for one don't crave power in my consoles or other devices...I have my $1500 PC for that

Malkeor commented on Talking Point: Life Without Wii U Achievements:

I like achievements for some things...for some reason I only cared about them in MMOs like WoW, GW2, and then SC2.

For my PS3 I actually don't care a whole ton. I like when I get a notification it's like "ah cool" but I don't really go out and hunt them down or anything afterwards.

Malkeor commented on Review: Paper Mario: Sticker Star (3DS):

Not much different? I think this is pretty different comparing the other games in the series!

This will actually be the only game I will buy since Kid Icarus xD

Malkeor commented on Reggie Fils-Aime: "The Nintendo Power Brand is...:

GI is still doing fine with their print version but only because they had options.
Why didn't NP have a digital option? How is the brand very strong when it didn't seem like any effort was put forth to keep it going? It still wasn't anything like the old what gives?

Malkeor commented on Sony: Wii U Offering "Something That Vita and...:

Well if I was going to wrestle with the competition I wouldn't say something as stupid as that. That's all it really is. Stupid.
Just think for a moment what was said.

I own Sony and Nintendo platforms too...but when you see stupid, there's really no other word for it.

Malkeor commented on Sony: Wii U Offering "Something That Vita and...:

"One major point in Wii U's favour is that the GamePad screen and the console are directly integrated together, so it's a standard for games and a natural part of a title's development; as Vita and PS3 are two separate pieces of hardware, there are likely to be different challenges in development."

You hit the nail on the head with this. I mean it's retarded for them to say that because first of all it's ridiculous to assume you can compete using two separate pieces of hardware to achieve the same thing.
Absolutely dumb. Sony you fail.

Malkeor commented on Ubisoft: Wii U Is The Most Innovative System O...:

Well it doesn't have much competition in the innovative category...wait till we have new systems to make the final call.
It's like having a black dude in a class full of white kids and the teach goes "grats! You're the blackest person in this class!" (crude example)

But ...Nintendo does win by default for now. I have faith, but I can already smell the copy cats. Oh Sony i'm looking at you....
I hope Nintendo continues to innovate and go their own path, it's truly the best thing they do.

Malkeor commented on Talking Point: Are Wii U Games Going To Be Too...:

I don't think $60 is an unfair amount of money.

That's as long as Nintendo up holds its quality on value and if it really seems like a game is worth it or not. That's, of course, all up to the player. You think it's worth $60 or not.
Not all games ARE quality. I don't care who you are, but that is why I also think games should be priced according to what the developer sees fit. Yes...even if it's a retail game. Nintendo should look at these games though, and be honest about if it's being too much (Ninjabread man at $49....) but this is all a dream that might not come true.

The problem I have with freemium games is that there is almost always a Cash Shop of some kind. You use real life money to pay for accessories and upgrades and decoration, etc anything you can imagine.
I loathe that system with a passion.

Also with rising development costs, how else are they going to pay off their game?
You buy it with that premium price tag. I honestly don't see a problem with it, because it's been happening for so long now, and if it's a third party publisher the prices usually drop anyway fairly quickly.

Malkeor commented on Talking Point: Wii U and the Next Generation o...:

The Wii U MIGHT have a year or two of fantastic sales, but even then I would be surprised. I've learned not to expect too much. I just hope Nintendo knows what they are doing and the still lack of information is frustrating.

The gap in graphics may be a littler narrower but only because everyone now has adopted HD.
That doesn't say anything about the hardware....things aren't photo-realistic yet, and there's pleeeenty of improvement in the graphics department for games, even for the current PC genre. (btw low/high settings for PC games reveal fantastic differences for MANY games)
Just take a look at the next-gen real-time demos. I'm pretty sure they aren't talking about Wii-U...but this is what developers are going to start doing. It would be silly to think we would still lag behind in the PS3/360 hardware level for long, and I doubt many developers are going to stay once the new engines become more widely used. So the gap might still be there eventually.
Games? Well depending on how these games look I don't see a simple port happening. Unless it's Call of Duty. This just depends on the scaling ability of the engine, which is largely unknown except for Unreal 4.
Also Unreal Engine 4 is still up in the air, even though it's going to be really scalable, I just hope the devs are willing to tweak the game to be able to port and take advantage of the Wii U.

The two widely different control methods are a problem, it's hard to imagine a developer going with both methods, because if it's not all out tablet, it's going to be barely usable tablet, just how motion control as laughable tacked onto games for Wii. THIS is what i'm worried about.

Also I still think that it's going to be difficult to expand the market with the core generation already interested in all this new power and not to mention their unshakable loyalty to Sony/Microsoft. And the casuals have all focused their eyes on the tablet market and what it's going to be very difficult indeed no matter how intriguing the Wii U might be. Though the only thing they need to get working on is their entertainment hub and solid networking capability. People love systems for versatility.

Malkeor commented on Capcom: The Next Gen Doesn't Start With Wii U:

OlympicCho knows what he's talking about.

I don't think it's hard to understand what Capcom is trying to say if you get away from "Nintendo4lyfe" attitude.

It would be a utopia world before that happens haha. Though I do applaud the way Nintendo does their stuff.
It's actually the best of all worlds. They are doing something innovative WITH the option to use a more classic control style if developers are afraid to get their feet wet.
The only thing holding the system back is horsepower....between the touchscreen and methods of using that, having the best of both worlds would be too expensive....though it would make everything much easier and more people would be on board.

But everyone would still have their own exclusives even if everything could be ported flawlessly. That's the main factor that got me into choosing PS3 or Xbox360. I will always have a Nintendo console and 1 of the other guys as well

"Nintendo will lead the charge with Wii U software and that will result in a surge of interest from third parties as they become enticed by the possibilities the format offers - despite the fact that it runs pretty much the same spec as the 360 and PS3."

Nobody has to worry about this now...but when the next wave comes from Sony and Microsft as early as next year, then what? That's all that really matters. This may be Nintendo's next evolution, but comparing it to aging, soon-to-be-last gen hardware isn't really something that needs to be done because all that matters is how it will hold up against the onslaught of their next machines.
Once that happens will Wii-U just become and after thought, had a good 2 years of fun time in the sun? This is what people are really asking.

Malkeor commented on Rest Easy, New Characters Are Coming To Smash ...:

I agree with Smitherenez.
New characters are awesome, and if he's gonna include falco and toon link or young link, etc. I really hope that they become their own character and not just slightly different clones.

Malkeor commented on Nintendo Power Magazine Looks Set to Shut Down:

I was wondering why I haven't gotten a magazine in a while...o.oWow this is awful. I love Nintendo power....I love looking at (AND SMELLING) gaming magazines in general. I hope Game Informer will publish more Nintendo articles...

But hey Nintendo Life...this is your chance...PUT OUT A MAGAZINE...

Malkeor commented on Unreal Engine 4 Ports Possible on Wii U:

"How is this bad? how many Epic Games games were coming to Wii U anyway? "

There are literally TONS of companies who use the Unreal Engine in their consoles.
I'll give an example. The incredibly popular developer, Bioware.

Malkeor commented on New Super Smash Bros. Is a 'Big Priority' for ...:

You gotta make it Nintendo majority...and including fighters from 1 on 1 fighters like Tekken seem really weird.
I do like how they are actually thinking about it and not wanting to just flood the roster with their IP.

Jeez I reallllly hope this does well...

Malkeor commented on Bigger Nintendo 3DS Console Revealed:

@TeeJayYou're right and I agree....going from glossy and slick to dull and matte just doesn't do it for me. It makes it look all plasticy and cheap. The color scheme of the regular 3DS is just awesome, even if you buy it in different colors it doesn't seem like a 'toy' it is actually gorgeous.

I want everything to fit, and I just curious why they don't have a black or white option at the start....puzzled.
At least in North America.
I want my black!

Malkeor commented on Super Smash Bros. 3DS and Wii U Powers Up with...:

For characters, sure that's a fair preference, but their development track record is scary.
I would not want them to have a big role in such a huge and important game.

I'm already nervous about Namco, but with Sakurai and his team still at the helm, I think things will be okay.

Malkeor commented on Talking Point: Wii U Bundles Need to Suit Us All:

I think including too much in a bundle is certainly asking for too much.
Though I respect options, a standard pack and a more expensive premium pack that is more expensive but collectively less expensive than buying each item individually.

Malkeor commented on First Impressions: ZombiU:

The dying and losing all your stuff might put alot of people off, but it's a good thing you can still get them all back.

This might be an interesting game for those hard core survivalists.

Dunno if it'll be for me though...but it might be too hard to resist. It's defiantly an interesting concept.

Malkeor commented on Miyamoto Talks Down Idea of 3DS Redesign:

So I think we learned our lesson...about that rumor chick? What's her name again? It's so I can make a mental note not to believe a single letter she types.
Yeah, don't trust her.
