DoReMi Fantasy: Milon’s DokiDoki Adventure is the sequel to Milon's Secret Castle on the NES. Whilst the original game was undoubtedly great when it first came out, time hasn’t been so kind to it. By comparison it is a joy to play the SNES sequel which in terms of level design, visuals, concept and execution is hard to fault. It deserves to be recognised as one of the best platformers which the SNES has to offer. Miss this at your peril.
Puyo Puyo 2: Tsuu is a bit less essential as the Virtual Console already has Mean Bean Machine and Kirby’s Avalanche which are both quite similar in concept. We’re going to stick our necks out on the lines however and suggest that Puyo Puyo 2 is probably the best of the bunch. Have a read of Damo’s review and make up your own mind.
Not a bad week if I say so myself! Check out this weeks reviews:
DoReMi Fantasy: Milon’s DokiDoki Adventure - SNES – 900 Points
Puyo Puyo 2: Tsuu – Sega Genesis – 900 Points

Are we looking at any neccessary text translations here or will they just keep it all in Japanese?
I don't why the phrase 'could have done with this week last week' comes to mind. Probably due to Brawl being out.
As for translations. If they anything like the previous batch of import games the manual will be translated but the game will not be. Wait and see on Monday is all that can be said really...
YES!!! I've been waiting and waiting!!! DoReMi Fantasy! This game looks so rad! I can't wait! I just came on here to check (as I do every hour when as it gets closer to Monday), and I wasn't expecting anything... which raises my curiosity once again... How do you guess find out what's coming up before Monday? No one else does. Which is why VC Reviews is my favorite.
What we could use now is a little bit of MegaMan and Double Dragon.
Wow two imports in the same week. Great week.
I hope we get them on Thursday. I'm hoping for one of the NES games Europe never got originally that came out on America VC already (out of those listed, only Ghouls 'n' Ghosts came out in Europe back in the day, the others never did which probably explains why we Europeans haven't saw those NES games yet)... even if we do have to pay 600 points for them.
I hope we get DoReMi Fantasy next week, looks like a great platformer.
Can't get enough of those
Woo, import games! Lets see some over here in Euroland too! ^^
I think I'm turning japanese, oh I'm turning japanese...I really think so.
I think I'm turning japanese, oh I'm turning japanese...I really think so.
HAHA
Good to see the tipsters tipping vc-reviews about the US releases early again.
Nothing interesting for me this week : (
Yay for DoReMe! I will get it when I am tired of Brawl.
Why coudn't Super Smash Bros come out this week?
omg DoReMi Fantasy!!!! Thats a must buy for me.
I think if you put away a dollar a day, NB, you'd still have Earthbound quicker than you would if you waited for it on VC.
Wow, now THAT'S what I'm talking about! Bring more of those never brought over SNES and NES Japanese games Nintendo! And this game looks great! Talking about Milon's 'heartpounding' Adventure, lol.
Too bad I'm just gonna buy it this week and have to wait a long time to play it. ...you know the reason why.
What's with everybody anticipating Milon 2 so much...? Being an import title doesn't make it less average than it is, I'd much rather have the superb Kirby's Fun Pak.
ICEknight, the reason we're so excited is because we this game looks awesome. It's, supposedly, one of the best platformers out there.
Well nether games intrest me but there maybe something for me in the upcomming Hanibe Festival Zero Eight .
In response to to DJ triforce wondering how vc-reviews knows whatsoever been rekeased that day well i got a simple answer they check the shop channel as it's the only way .
What no super smash bros?
NB: Yeah. You never can tell with Nintendo. The Monday after you buy the cartridge, they could put it on VC. But as you said, you could probably sell it for the same price you bought it.
gardawg: Nope. That was just fan generated hype on the internet with no real basis other than they did something similar for Mario Galaxy and Metroid Prime 3. If smash bros was coming, they would have released it weeks or months ago. not on the same day as its sequel. i personally would have said the best time to have released it on VC was December 3rd I think it was - the first day it was supposed to come out but was delayed.
Wow, that's awesome how two games I've wanted come out on the same day! I'm a Puyo fanboy, so I kind of have to get Puyo Puyo Tsu, but I've wanted to play DoReMi Fantasy after I first saw a video of it at this site. This is looking to be a pretty good Monday if ya ask me! =)
Kawaiipikachu, VC Reviews post these games up before they are even up on the Shop Channel. At least I don't seem them...
I should have realised what day of the week it was slaps head in hand
Well, after a number of weeks of releasing 1 game a week (except 2 weeks ago when we got 2 games) we Australians MIGHT begin to forgive Nintendo if we get these games this Friday...
Then again, Nintendo doesn't care about it's Australian market
The DokiDoki Adventure game looks interesting and it looks like it would be fun.
Haha, Kawaiipikachu. That was funny.
Maybe another Hanabi Festival this or next month? I guess we could get SMB2 back in the week where US gets Mario Picross, and we all could get Custom Robo 2...
I hope we'll have a Hanabi Festival where we'll get Super Mario RPG and America gets Devil World
@DJ_Triforce - The press gets to know which games come out before Monday, there's a forum where one member of the press posts what they are when he knows them. He has never been wrong.
Well, I 'm getting Brawl in a couple hours so no VC downloading for a while! Unless Double Dragon, mega mans or vectorman comes out
Quirky platformer...hmm. Might give it a pass, seeing as the last quirky platformer I bought on this websites recommendation was Mystical Ninja...and that wasn't too great.
Cool, I hope these come to the UK/Eire next week.
Perhaps Nintendo could try to distract us with a Month of Japanese releases whilst the US enjoys Brawl?
Oh yamiiguy. But, you see, VC doesn't always let us know before-hand. We sometimes only find out on Mondays. I don't know. I love it when we know before it though. Also, why do people put a "@" before a person's name. Doesn't that symbol mean "at"?
Don't count on it Coire
Ha! This looks like a good week, but does anyone in the United States care? We got Brawl! I was at the midnight launch, and I couldn't stop playing untill a hazardous 6 AM. It is a sensational game. I feel sorry for PAL gamers! I could barely stand waiting untill now! Anyway, at least translated copies are now ready to for import (or from my perspective, export). The greatness of Brawl notwithstanding, I'll have to check out some of the Japanese titles.
@DJ Triforce - yes - it basically means the reply is aimed 'at' the person who is being named. Simple!
Thanks Damo. It all makes sense now.
You American folks have got it too good. You get these unexpected games today, you get Super Paper Mario five months before us, Truama Center: Second Opinion nine months before us, Smash Bros Brawl at least six months before us...and what do we get? Alan Hansen's Sport Challenge! Yyyyyyyyyyyyay!!
Are those games completely Japanese or do they have at least little translation
Bensei, I've bought DoReMi Fantasy, and yes that one is Japanese... but the game is great. I love platformers. It's well worth the price. I don't know about the other game, but I would assume that it's in Japanese as well.
Big deal...There's probably a reason these games never made it outside of Japan...
Viral, buy it - try it, and let us know why these types of games don't make it outside of Japan. This game is great.
OMG! are you guys for real???
When are we gonna get some really good NES games...
Wheres the RC pro-am,
Bad street brawler, Batman, Guardian legend, or metal gear, or paperboy, Strider, Sector Z, Shinobi, Maniac Mansion, Kid Nikki Ha!! I got way more. but all we get is Poyoyo??? Wt F
My faith in nintendo's Adult gaming community is rapidly fading with all the Shovelware and now the LaLa invasion on the VC. NES alone had over 700 games released in its lifetime ( and I owned a ton of them). If VC keeps releasing One or Two games a week for four consoles then you do the math and that means 2 games a week times 4 weeks a month times 12 months a year and thats like a 100 games a years so that means if they only release Nes games it will take 7 years!!!. I am no fool nor do I want all the games but I want some Megaman or metal gear or final fantasy soon or I am gonna be mad. Ha like anybody cares! (NINTENDO!!!) Forget it I am already Mad!!! But on the other hand my 10 year old daughter is having fun. = (
I know what you mean Will. but DoReMi Fantasy is really good. Try it out. I'm waiting for Nintendo games too. I'm probably not as old as you (I'm 21), but I got the NES for my 4th Christmas, and it changed my life... haha that's funny saying that my life was changed when I was 4.
I wonder if Nintendo will ever port Gameboy games over to the Virtual Console. I would love to play Super Mario Land, Tetris, and Link's Awakening on a television with the Wiimote.
We won't see any of these games on the EU-VC. Why? They are not translated and because half of Europe won't even learn basic english a game in japanese will be doomed from start.
but nintendo only chooses japanese games for VC that can be played by anyone regardless of where they are from and who they are.
@Viral "Big deal...There's probably a reason these games never made it outside of Japan..."
Yeah, just like there's a reason stuff like Mario RPG and Chrono Trigger never made it to Europe - they probably suck, and aren't worth wasting your time with a closer look at.
@Jon: We, uh, already have Japanese games on the EU VC. Plus, it's not like these games are text-heavy or anything - that's why they're the ones we get.
That's unexpected and good thing to see more Japanese games. So Puyo Puyo 2: Tsuu is released with the Japanese text intact. Here's a puzzling question: Why didn't SEGA release the Japanese version of Streets of Rage 3 then? Bare Knuckle III didn't need to be translated except for its manual. But whatever, let's hope SEGA releases Monster World IV in North American and European VC territories.
I dont know if this was a good release for my birthday or not XD
Jaxathon... this is a great release for your birthday. DoReMi.
@Adamant: You mean Sin and Punishment? As I recall it's partially translated. If no translation was necessary we would only have english as an language option on our Wii's, wouldn't we?
As it is now Germany, Spain, France and so on insists on having every piece of text translated. If a game comes out on the VC that's not translated at all there will be a lot of whining regardless how much (or how little) text there is.
Adamant, I had the pleasure of playing Super Mario RPG and the like on Super Nintendo when I lived in America. I know how badly Europe is getting screwed now that I live here now. I think that DoReMi isn't coming to Europe anyways and it's not a big loss for me anyways. I'm 23 and I plan on only buying games I know I will enjoy because I don't have the best paying job in the world that can support my family and my gaming addiction at the same time...
Puyo Puyo 2, Kirby's Avalanche and Dr Robotnik's Mean Bean Machine are one and the same game. The latter two were re-skinned for the west.
Puyo Puyo 2 also happens to be the finest multi-player puzzle action game ever made
Thanks, DJ Triforce. I don't care about Puyo Puyo 2, I have the Sonic Collections for GCN
I'm gonna buy this game if it's that high recommended. Another Question: Is the story described in the electronic manual?
@Viral: You're European and if you register VIP Codes you can get wii points for free!
"@Adamant: You mean Sin and Punishment? As I recall it's partially translated."
There's also Mario's Super Picross, which wasn't translated at all. When no one is getting the game in their own language, there shouldn't be any complaining.
"Adamant, I had the pleasure of playing Super Mario RPG and the like on Super Nintendo when I lived in America."
And still you don't see my point? You can claim that Doremi Fantasy probably sucks because it wasn't released outside Japan when you've played great games never released outside Japan and North America, like Mario RPG, yourself.
