DJ_Triforce commented on Zelda Rock Album Available Now:

I can't believe I spent my money on this. :(

I should have known. None of these video game cover people know how to record. The tones are awful, the arrangements are awful... even the guitars are out of tune. I have to be honest though, this is one of the best ones I've heard... Just not as good as it should be, considering the caliber of the original music compositions.

This game is going to be awesome. The stand is a welcomed edition... It sort or tells me that Nintendo screwed up by making this game for this console; realizing how uncomfortable the DS and the 3DS is when you are playing games with one hand.

I loved this series... although the game could have used some serious polish (on all platforms). As for seeing a physical release, if I hadn't already purchased it, I would be all over this idea. However, seeing as how I already own the digital format, I'll be happy letting this one pass me by. :)

Again, I am still confused as to what people have against trophies and achievements. I don't understand. It doesn't hurt the game. If you don't want to try to do more than just play and beat a game, then don't worry about it. For those that want more to do once the game is done, you can start collecting. It's for fun. Nothing more. :)

Hopefully Nintendo will implement a trophy/achievement system. If the graphics are the same, gameplay is pretty much the same, what reason would I have to buy it on my WiiU, if it doesn't include this feature? That's just me though. :)

Why not, instead, just give the customer a code that comes with the game. Once they enter the code, it unlocks the game to your system and your system alone. Then you could delete saved data as often as you want. Games with online functionality do this already on the 360 and PS3... I think this is a good idea.

I hate to admit it, but Jack is right. I've always loved Nintendo, and still do... no matter what they release, I will always be the first to buy it. :) That being said, we should have had HD when Wii was first released... there was no excuse. SD is for poor people.

DJ_Triforce commented on Super Mario 3DS Has a Zelda-Style Dungeon Level:

The Legend of Zelda: Link's Awakening, Ocarina of Time both have Mario references (I'm sure there are more), but I can't think of any Zelda references in a Mario game to date. This is very interesting. :)

Also, I wonder if the Tanooki suit will be able to turn to stone.

And when will we see a return of the Kuribo shoe?

I'm really hoping that the "creature" that swallowed the blonde haired girl is the Wind Fish from Link's Awakening (my all-time favorite game... of all-time). I think it would be even better, however unlikely it is, if we discovered that the land below the clouds was in fact Koholint Island. Now that would be amazing. :)

I understand what you mean. And I tend to go back to classics all the time, but I have somewhere upwards from about 600 games or so. It's difficult to determine which one to go toward... however, if I was missing trophies or achievements, I would tent to lean toward that one. So, let's hope that if Nintendo realizes the audience for it, that they understand that there is also a large audience that would like to opt out of this feature.

One thing I just thought about is that this would also boost 3rd party sales. Some people just buy games for the trophies and achievements (again, this isn't me).

I believe the PS3 and the 360 both have the option... actually, I'm a little more sure of the 360 being able to turn them off, than the PS3.

On a quick side note, I'm not even really all about trophies and achievements, but when I have beaten a game for the 3rd time, they definitely give me a reason to return to it.
please use the 'edit' link instead of double-posting to a thread :3 — TBD

Exactly. If people don't like the, ignore them. People do the same with the PS3 and 360. It's not like I'm standing here saying that anything anyone else mentioned was a bad idea. Why not have Nintendo include every idea everyone has mentioned in this thread? Haha.

I disagree. Sure, you'll always come back to great games, but what recent titles have you played (on the Wii, that weren't 1st party releases), and beaten more than 5 times? I'm betting that the list is pretty small - as is mine. How many of you beat Super Mario Galaxy and started it right over? Legend of Zelda Twilight Princess? ... I'd say the only replay value titles would be short games like Mario Kart Wii or Super Mario Bros Wii... but again, these are all Nintendo titles, made by Nintendo. I mean, the reality is, trophies/achievements, by their very nature, increase replay value. There's no arguing that. In fact, it forces multiple playthroughs, and 100% completion of collectables, secrets and goals. Sure, you can beat a game and get 100% everything, but what do you have to show for it? Your word to your friends? Is there something SO wrong about having a little icon next to a game saying that you've beaten it in it's entirety? Does it really bother you THAT much? I don't understand why everyone has been so up in arms against this.

I don't see how this would hurt the company in any way. I feel that, for myself, it gives the game a whole new sense of not only re-playability, but a whole new challenge, difficulty and sense of accomplishment. There's nothing wrong with this. If someone plays through a game on the normal setting (as most of us do from the get-go), what do they have left to do with the game besides playing it on the highest difficulty setting? And after that, what then? This is why I have no problem with the inclusion of a system like this. Instead of getting 30 hours out of a game, why not make it 50? 60? 100? I can't help it, I'm a completion-ist. For example, I've purchased Bioshock 1 and 2 (brand new) on both the 360 and the PS3, and I've unlocked the trophies and achievements... that's more entertainment for me, more money for the 3rd party developers. Some people even buy games just to boost their score.

If you don't feel the same way, that's fine. You're entitled to your own opinion. I just thought I'd throw in an idea that, even after 75 comments, hasn't been brought up. :)

I am in shock that no one has mentioned the inclusion of a trophy/achievement system. Seriously, I don't care who you are, everytime one of these pop up on our screen, we all feel a sense of accomplishment, not to mention it increases the replay value significantly. And, it would be amazing if they incorporated into downloadable titles as well... think of it... The Legend of Zelda (NES) - "You've collected the Magic Sword" unlocked!, Super Mario Bros 3 (NES) - "You beat the game without the use of Warp Whistles" unlocked!

You get the idea... it would give gamers a whole new way to play these games, and just one more reason (as if we needed any) to play them again. :)

Really? 9/10? Wow... that was unexpected. Seeing the gameplay of this game really makes me wish that the Wii had better visual capabilities. It's just not as impacting as it's HD counterparts. Still a great game though, if the Wii version is your only option. :)

DJ_Triforce commented on Lots of Monkey Business in New Donkey Kong Cou...:

Everytime I watch a new trailer for this game, I'm always focusing on the music. It's most important to me when it comes to the Donkey Kong Country franchise; my favorite composer is David Wise for this very reason. Not to say that Kenji Yamamoto isn't a great composer... but Wise will surely be missed. To be honest, I kind of wish that I never looked up the composer of this game. I would have rather just lived in ignorance because I am always watching and listening to every note with criticism. Hopefully the full soundtrack will deliver. Right now, this is reminding me of something that would be used in Metroid Prime 3... which isn't too great. Terrible samples... the game deserves better. If they couldn't get David Wise, couldn't they at least have got Grant Kirkhope? Sorry if I come off as a douche. I just had to vent a bit. :P I will still be in the front of the line on launch day, and I'm still super excited that they even took the chance to revive the series~|!

Haha, actually, now that you mention it, my friends and I have started a website (iheartlasers.com) where we review games and post news, twitter feeds, etc... would you mind if we occasionally posted some of NintendoLife's articles on there? Of course, we would post a link to your website as well... I was just wondering if we might be able to. :)

@Faron
You can't be angry with Telltale... I mean, they never had any intention of bringing the game to the Wii... it's the media sites that you have to blame - they're the one's who led you to believe that the game was going to the Wii in the first place.

DJ_Triforce commented on Telltale's Back to the Future Not Coming to Wii:

This is exactly why Nintendo needs to step on the HD wagon... then we'd be able to see more games ported over to the Wii. This is a bit disheartening though. I also saw an article stating that No More Heroes' next outing will be a PS3 exclusive. All in all, this is what I have to say:

Nintendo, please... get with the times. Let's get HD, a trophy/achievement system, a better online system! We love you, but these are some very serious fixes! :D
