Fans do care about the small details, and it’s clear that Nintendo values this attention to detail as well. At the end of the day, Metroid is a Nintendo franchise, and they have the right to request edits to maintain visual cohesion and integrity. If you’re an artist seeking complete creative freedom, it might be more fulfilling to develop your own original projects rather than working within the boundaries of someone else’s intellectual property.
Miyamoto is a legend. But I am looking forward to new blood at Nintendo evolving the company into new ways of working, including investing money a little more liberally on projects and infrastructure, such as online.
@Muddy_4_Ever actually Nintendo has the same ethos. In fact, Miyamoto in a previous interview cited Illumination’s economical approach to animation as one of the reasons they were a good match.
@Silly_G what are you talking about? Everything is fully open and we haven’t had a single community case in months. We don’t even need to wear masks outside of transport.
@Arnold-Kage the figure of speech is “I couldn’t care less”. If you “could” care less, then you care. You’re saying you don’t care. Therefore you couldn’t care less.
@Muddy_4_Ever there was an interview where Miyamoto praised how economical Illumination was in making movies. He’s quite “economical” when making games, so it fits.
What investors don’t realise is that, for gamers, it always has been and always will be about the games. That’s why “inferior” powered devices consistently beat the more powerful ones through decades of data. The mobile phone argument is moot too, since they’re already more powerful than the Switch but people still using them as side gaming devices. This investor seriously used the same arguments against the Switch that we’re used before launch, but the Switch has proven people are still willing to buy dedicated gaming devices in droves.
Basically big publishers like EA will have their own "app" that you pay a subscription fee for. Perhaps they in-turn will pay console makers like Nintendo, Sony and Microsoft a licensing fee to house the app on their system... But then will consoles in their current form even be necessary? All you'll need is a good internet connection, a nice screen, a moderately powered console/computer/tablet and a favourite controller (since the power to run the game will be stored elsewhere). Everything may change in 10 years.
A streaming future is where I see Nintendo actually really shining. Their first party games are second to none. And I'm sure they'll come up with a good reason to ensure you buy their console to play as well.
Bit odd that the narrator in the video describes the earthquake as an "atrocity". That's usually reserved for mass shootings and the like, not Mother Nature.
I thought they decided to stop releasing DLC because all the ideas the new director had could be used on the next game? I was getting the impression it would be a direct sequel to Breath of the Wild during the "rebuilding" of Hyrule. All the assets are there, this could be done and released in three years.
