Re: Review: Tetris Party (WiiWare)

worrybomb

Good review and I agree too. This is the best version of Tetris on a console in quite a while yet I wish some of the play modes made it to Wi-Fi. Plus the game's really at its best when you're playing with people either locally or Wi-Fi. Still since Tetris DS is discontinued, then Tetris Party is the next best choice and a great addition to WiiWare.

Re: USA WiiWare Update: Tetris Party & The Incredible Maze

worrybomb

Can't wait to get home from work and download some Tetris. And don't worry Europe, according to a press release you'll get this game on the 24th so at least the Europe WiiWare update will have one great game this week.

As soon as I get online, I'll post my FC in the vc-reviews forums.

Re: Rainbow Island Tower

worrybomb

I was never really a huge fan of the Rainbow Island series. Granted I only played one installment (Bubble Bobble Playstation One port) but it never really caught my attention as much as Bubble Bobble. I am though interested in Parasol Stars once it makes its way to the VC in NA.

As far as RIT goes, here's hoping it's a little bit more decent than the recent Rainbow Island ports.

Re: Bubble Bobble Wii

worrybomb

I really hope Taito revitalizes Bubble Bobble for WiiWare the same way they revitalized Space Invaders with Space Invaders Extreme. If there's one Taito franchise that needs the SIE treatment, it's Bubble Bobble.

Also some online co-op couldn't hurt either. =P

Re: Treasure: Buy Dynamite Headdy, You Fools

worrybomb

@ Ian Daemon

It's not that Mr. Maegawa's top priority is to get money for Dynamite Headdy, it was one of his and Treasure's first games so you can't blame the man for wanting more exposure for it. DH holds a lot of sentimental value for him. Plus not a lot of people mention Dynamite Headdy when it comes to best Genesis games.

And on that note if you haven't DL Dynamite Headdy and you love platforming games, then give it a chance. It's pretty darn good.

Re: OFLC Update: Mega Man 3

worrybomb

In my opinion, Mega Man 2 was a masterpiece while Mega Man 3 I would consider as a summer blockbuster movie.

That's not to knock Mega Man 3 in anyway just it wasn't enough to knock off MM2 as my number one Mega Man game. Still it's a great addition to the VC and a must own if you're still fiending for some Mega. Plus it's the only game where the developers didn't mess up the Rush Jet.

Re: USA VC Releases: Mario Golf and Shining Force II

worrybomb

@ marktheshark

1. It's not that hard. Compare to Fire Emblem, you'll be able to adjust to Shining Force quite easily. Doesn't mean that it won't kick your arse if you make a miscalculation.

2. You'll be able to revive dead party members via a church located in every town you visit. It'll cost you money though.

Re: USA VC Releases: Mario Golf and Shining Force II

worrybomb

@ x.SuperMario.x

If you have to get a Shining Force game, get SFII. It really improved on Shining Force 1 in every category.

Update: You also don't have to worry about missing any connections from the previous SF since there really is no connection story-wise.

Re: USA VC Releases: Mario Golf and Shining Force II

worrybomb

It stinks that Hudson is once again bamboozled by Nintendo. However, just for this one time, I'll look past it. One of the games may not be Earthworm Jim, but we get a Mario game and we didn't have to wait until the 300th VC title either.

If you're tired of Wii Sports Golf and don't feel like spending the extra money on other Wii golf games (Super Swing Golf series, We Love Golf!) then Mario Golf for the N64 should be right up your alley or in this case, par 4 course. While the graphics may be a little dated, it is still one of the most enjoyable golf games I have played in my lifetime. Also the mini-golf mode is quite fun and great for multiplayer.

Finally Shining Force II. Put it this way...if Nintendo would've released this one game alone with no other VC titles and WiiWare games, this would still be an awesome update. Some may think it's an upgrade to the first one but it's more than an mere upgrade. Better music, enjoyable characters, great storyline, lots of characters and character classes, new weapons via mithrill, plot twists...I keep going and going. if you love stragety games or even the slightest Genesis fan, give this game a download. You won't be disappointed. Peter the Phoenix awaits you. =)

Overall, a great VC update...much better than the previous known one from Hudson. I hope we get Gradius II next week but in the meantine, enjoy these games folks.

Re: Top 20 WiiWare Games in USA (1st Oct)

worrybomb

WiiWare's "Popular Titles" for 10.05.2008 in NA:

1 (1) - Mega Man 9
2 (2) - My Aquarium
3 (6) - Bomberman Blast
4 (3) - Strong Bad Episode 2 - Strong Badia the Free
5 (5) - Dr. Mario Online RX
6 (14) - Art Style: ORBIENT
7 (4) - My Pokemon Ranch
8 (6) - Defend Your Castle
9 (7) - Strong Bad Episode 1 - Homestar Ruiner
10 (9) - Wild West Guns
11 (10) - Frat Party Games - Pong Toss
12 (11) - TV Show King
13 (12) - Final Fantasy Crystal Chronicles: My Life as a King
14 (13) - LostWinds
15 (15) - Midnight Pool
16 (16) - Family Table Tennis
17 (18) - V.I.P. Casino: Blackjack
18 (20) - Cocoto Fishing Master
19 (19) - Gyrostarr
20 (17) - Groovin' Blocks

Several changes in today's ranking where Art Style is climbing up the charts probably due to good word of mouth. The 600 Wii Points price also is a factor of course. My Pokemon Ranch and Defend Your Castle is slowly making their descent while SPOGS is officially out of the Popular 20. Don't rejoice yet because it looks like Groovin' Blocks might say adieu starting tomorrow which is a shame being that the game is actually pretty fun.

Re: MadStone Coming To WiiWare On Monday

worrybomb

Hope your game is a success Jacob and the rest of the Riverman team!

It's a crowded area the puzzle genre but I would give it a chance once I see a review or two. So far the impressions have been positive. As long as it's a good puzzler like Dr. Mario or Groovin' Blocks then I say keep'em coming. =)

Re: Pit Crew Panic

worrybomb

Now it is ESRB rated. Hudson should be sending us some kind of info soon about it. Really interested to see what this game is about.

Re: EU VC Releases: Earthworm Jim and Shining Force II

worrybomb

Europe getting the DSi first and now Earthworm Jim AND Shining Force II?? I hate Europeans. =P

In all seriousness, it's a great update. Two great Mega Drive/Genesis games hitting the VC. Here's to hoping Shining Force II comes out this Monday for NA.

Re: USA WiiWare Update: Bomberman Blast And Art Style: ORBIENT

worrybomb

Art Style: ORBIENT sounds interesting. I'll wait to see it later on the internets and the Nintendo Channel.

As for Bomberman Blast, one thing is preventing me from getting it: is it known if a retail version of the game is coming out to NA? If so, I rather wait until that comes out seeing that it'll have more features compared to the WiiWare version. Unless of course if WiiWare Bomberman will have some kind of DLC in the future a la Bomberman Live.

Re: Review: Mega Man 9 (WiiWare)

worrybomb

Okay as much I don't want to admit this, I found one fault with Mega Man 9. You still don't have full control of the Rush Jet. Come on, one of the reasons why I liked Mega Man 3 is because you can fully control the Rush Jet to go anywhere you feel like going. After MM3, Rush Jet was completely downgraded Rush Jet in moving two directions: up and down because wherever you pointed Rush it's going to go that direction only. I was hoping this will be fixed in Mega Man 9 but now I know why it received a score of "9". =P

In all seriousness, I missed fully controlling Rush Jet.

Re: EU WiiWare Update: Mega Man 9, Strong Bad Ep 2 and Helix

worrybomb

Poor Helix...sanwiched right between Mega Man 9 and Strong Bad Episode 2. Hope it does good over in Europe.

So far, I've beaten 4 Robot Masters in MM9. All with the Mega Buster mind you. I haven't played as much MM9 as I wanted to (work, stuff, etc.).I may need to use B. Bomb onJewel Man though...

Re: First Impressions: Madstone

worrybomb

There's definitely quite a number of puzzlers for the WiiWare service. I'm definitely digging Groovin' Blocks and Dr. Mario. Madstone didn't look so interesting in my eyes before but I think that might have changed thanks to the screenshots. Heck I had the same feelings when I saw Puzzle Quest for the first time and now I love it.

Is there a price set for Madstone yet? Also (unrelated) it looks like I have my own avatar without me knowing it. I guess it kind of fits my name. =P Thanks to whoever gave me it!

Re: Review: Mega Man 9 (WiiWare)

worrybomb

It's true. This game isn't for the faint at heart and while to me this game is really pretty, I can understand why people would dismiss its retro graphics. Nevertheless, if you are the slightest video game aficionado that's looking for something different, look no further. It's really a great title not just for retro gamers but for new gamers alike as well. Welcome back Mega!

In other news, whether you think VGChartz.com is a reliable source or not, they are reporting that Mega Man 9 sales reached 60,000 in one day...outselling all but six WiiWare games in lifetime sales. The link can be found below:

http://news.vgchartz.com/news.php?id=2096

How many downloads will Mega Man 9 receive by the end of the week? Will it be more than Capcom's other recent retro game? We'll have to wait and see. =)

Re: Mega Man 9 Challenge List

worrybomb

Well looks like I have some achievements to achieve right away.

In other related news, Mega Man 9 is the most popular rated WiiWare game. Congratulations to all for supporting the Blue Bomber =)

Re: USA WiiWare Update: Mega Man 9 and Plättchen

worrybomb

Smart move to reduce the Wii Points by Bplus knowing that Plattchen is beign released with a couple of bad reviews under its belt. Still, the Europeans that downloaded this isn't going to like that move one bit. Well, in Bplus' case, can't please them all.

Today I have a half day of work so I'll be coming to DL you, Mega. =)

Re: USA VC Releases: Super Dodge Ball and Vectorman

worrybomb

I guess there wasn't a big VC game being released today.

Regardless, as great were the weeks where Samurai Shodown II, Ys, and Super Mario RPG have been released, I think this week is so far my favorite week of 2008 for Wii downloads. Super Dodge Ball and Vectorman are both great games and of course Mega Man 9...what more can you say about the game. It's just only a matter of hours...

Re: Mega Man 9 Confirmed For US Release On Monday!

worrybomb

MM9 would be one of the few games in the present where I would purchase no matter what even if it had awful ratings. It's great to hear that IGN gave it a great review. And to those that are complaining "omg it's not a 9 or 10" or "bleh 10 bucks for a NES game", keep in mind that Mega Man 4, 5, and 6 came out for a retail price of $50 and it looks they fail in comparison to MM9 (okay I apologize for being too harsh on MM4). Plus it has DLC , rankings, and such.

Buy this game and show Capcom and other developers/publishers that there is an audience for new "retro" games. =)

Re: Bomberman Blast Coming Soon To North America

worrybomb

While it'll be great if MM9 and Bomberman gets released on the same date, I would prefer if Bomberman gets released the next following Monday. You don't want a great game overshadowing another great game. Plus it'll give me plenty of time to pick up some Wii Points. =P

Re: USA VC Release: Mega Man 2

worrybomb

Sure it's one game on the VC this week. At least we have 2 WiiWare games being released (one that is exclusive to NA for now). But on top of all that, it's Mega motherfreakin' Man 2! This is the game that not only saved but also propelled the Mega Man franchise as you know of it today. For 500 Wii Points, if you are at least one and thirty-fourths nostalgic then download this game immediately. This is coming from a guy who played this game as soon as it came out, who had to do chores in order to get $50 in alowance, and who also owns the Anniversary Collection. Heck I'm going to be downloading this sucker as well.

Enjoy all!

Re: Review: Plättchen: Twist 'n' Paint (WiiWare)

worrybomb

I hope this doesn't discourage Bplus in anyway. I did like the presentation of this game as it looks like one of the better WiiWare games, graphically. Still I felt like all those skulls, fruits, asteriods, and whatnot are a little distracting to the gameplay. It just looks like everything is coming at you at once.

Great review by the way! Like I said, I hope it doesn't discourage Bplus as I would like to see another project of their's soon.

Re: Review: Bomberman Blast (WiiWare)

worrybomb

I agree that the Bomberman series is usually a "7" or "8" in the final ratings. I'm really glad that Bomberman Blast is still a whole lot of fun and I'll be downloading it when it's released in NA. Here's hoping that this game will be supported by DLC just like Bomberman Live for the 360.

Re: Bomberman Blasting Into Japan This Month

worrybomb

I wouldn't mind if the retail version doesn't come out in this region. I just hope that somewhere down the line we can get some additional content through Nintendo Wi-Fi like more levels, Bombermen, power-ups, etc. free or not free.

Re: Review: Groovin' Blocks (WiiWare)

worrybomb

I'll give it a download but it'll probably be somewhere in the near future. It looks like fun and hopefully these guys meet some kind of success with this game because I would love to see some more games by Empty Clip. Plus I like their logo. =)

Re: USA VC Releases: Cho Aniki and Final Soldier

worrybomb

I'm going to go ga-ga-gay for Cho Aniki.
Playing this game will make me one funky homo...sapien.

Okay enough of that . =P

LTTP but I think this is a good week for the VC. Sure it's nothing but a pair of shooters but if you can look past that, they're both pretty good. Not only that they are both from the Turbo-Grafx 16 library and they are imports. I say keep the imports coming. =)

Re: USA WiiWare Update: Groovin' Blocks

worrybomb

Can't wait to read the review written by Corbie. I like Groovin' Blocks for the sole purpose that it kind of reminds me between a mix of Lumines and Columns. Still for my last 1,000 Wii Points I am saving it for Mega Man 9.

Re: USA VC Releases: Super Mario RPG and Clu Clu Land

worrybomb

It'll quiet down the complainers...until they realize Earthbound hasn't been released yet. =P

Still, I'm glad SMRPG is available now in NA, EU, and Japan. And Clu Clu looks like an interesting game. Overall, another outstanding week for the VC.
