Not to be that guy, but with all due respect, insinuating Palworld is a Pokemon ripoff shows you're contributing to the corporate stranglehold and monopoly TPC has on the genre and anything dealing with "catching monsters." Please have a little more intellectual integrity.
@JohnnyMind Actually, this makes sense... 9 Colours like the 9 variants of Yoshi and Shy Guy, and then one additional character in both remaining waves would make 11 characters.
With Neon White and TMNT releasing next Thursday, I think that’s a huge indicator a Direct is next week… whether Wednesday or Thursday, I’m undecided which makes more sense. But considering those were more pitched as Switch centric games, I wonder if their presence at SGF was Nintendo’s way of playing nice without showing anything major they have from their eventual Direct.
As frustrating and inconvenient as this is for some folks, Nintendo is not out of line for doing this. It’s the nature of business. I think we have to keep in mind that while easy access to things such as game music are good and enjoyable, we are not entitled to it and it’s not healthy to be indignant at not getting what we think we are owed or having something last forever. At the end of the day, it’s Nintendo’s loss they don’t foster further community and commerce by making music readily available in a legal fashion. That doesn’t mean it should cause us any lasting consternation or disgruntlement.
Am I the only one who finds the mass sale of Zelda titles and Splatoon 2 as omens for announcements tonight? Seems like they would go hand in hand with the hype certain things being revealed would generate… whether more sales for current software that sets up for the next instalment or more future interest for said next instalments. Hmmm….
I started the original on Wii years ago, but after about two hours in, I gave up because of how tedious it was. As soon as I began the Remaster when it time-unlocked digitally this morning, I’ve been delighted. The motion controls are so much better and are actually fun to perform. Stick only controls are a little tricky to figure out at first, but a worthy alternative.
As for the art style, everything really pops and fits the tone of this as being the ancient origin of the legend. It’s like some grand painting on a massive cathedral ceiling relating an epic’s origin.
I cannot wait to, pun not intended, dive back in later today!
This trailer does a good job of showing how well they polished the look of everything. For a minute I was worried there would be a gulf between everything being in HD with the models not looking up to snuff with overlaying textures, pop-in, etc. Thankfully, it seems unfounded. Really excited to dive in on July 16th. With the growing appearance of ties between this and the new sequel, my Marvel- movie-loving self hopes there's something akin to "Link and Zelda will return in insert BOTW 2 title" once you finish the game.
I tried refreshing for days to no avail… I was quite frustrated at how silently they became available for preorder and then suddenly went out of stock. FYI, Play-Asia has the Japan version up for preorder availability. It may have cost more, but I was able to secure a preorder until the American page goes live for less hopefully. Enjoying something as simple as this shouldn’t be so hard. This isn’t capitalism at work, just greed.
@michellelynn0976 I thought it was interesting that Skyward Sword is being released in the same month that Paper Mario: Origami King did last year... and its arguable that it was the unofficial kickoff to the 35th celebrations for the plumber. This gives me hope we will see more dedicated things, whether re-releases, directs, and merchandise before the end of the year.
With the Age of Calamity DLC finishing by November, I feel like that would be the perfect dovetail/tie-in to the sequel for either a Christmas or February '22 release for the BotW sequel.
This was fun to listen to! Admittedly, I think the hand, text, and ruins tie into the Zonai somehow. The aesthetic, geometry, and carvings are reminiscent of Zonai artefacts and architecture scattered around BotW's Hyrule. Even in the art books there are allusions to the mystery and nature of the Zonai that felt like it could of been the platform for more DLC that evolved to the point of a full blown sequel.
Just looking at the floor plan for the art wing, I find it curious for the door to be centered when you head up the stairs, yet the entire art gallery is right aligned. While this certainly isn't concrete proof Gyroids are coming, something certainly is as it would be fitting to have a second room that was aligned left to match the art gallery. -thoughts from a designer
@technotreegrass I just found out you can also import Incineroar, Solgaleo, and Necrozma!! Those are the ones i have, so I’m assuming the other gen 7 starters and Lunala are transferable, too!!
@technotreegrass Yes! That’s what surprised me so much. I thought it was a glitch at first. But there was no marker in the Home app on Switch saying those pokemon weren’t compatible. However, they don’t have a number in the Pokédex, like Mew and Galatian Slopoke.
@Rexx You read my mind. Growing up on Layton, I fell in love with the characters and world. I almost lost my mind in Diabolical Box when he started fencing. I know we have plenty of sword fighters in smash, but if they could do revolving characters (think of Pokemon Trainer) with Layton, Luke, and Flora. each having their own unique attack, that would be awesome!

Really excited for this! It makes me hopeful that TP HD and WW HD get solo releases later this year as well!
Re: Nintendo Direct To Air Tomorrow, Wednesday 17th February
My thoughts on what we could generally see...
1. Paid Animal Crossing DLC announcement/details for first anniversary + free Mario Items. This would be a way to soften the blow of paid DLC.
2. Allusions to Zelda 35th direct broadcast possibly later this month. (No official announcements yet, just teeing up for the future.)
3. This is a long shot, but BotW sequel announced for May/June to kick off Zelda hype.
4. One of the last few Wii U big games that have yet to be ported... such as Xenoblade Chronicles X, Paper Mario: Colour Splash, etc.
5. Announcing the last fighters of pass 2 for Smash with general release windows, and then announcing pass 3.
