They should also sale this on the the modretro CHROMATIC like a physical gbc cartridge too. They will cover more ground that way too.

Im waiting to see what switch 1 games does this patch fixes? Maybe nier automata, pokemon bdsp, southpark fractured but whole or any other game still needed a patch or update to fix it on switch 2

@Olmectron with physical it can work on any system offline but digital is tied to any account and if the serves go off and decided to get rid of digital purchases you have nothing to past down to your kids etc but physical is nice to grab off the shelves and pop it in the console. You can resale it etc but if the servers goes offline you just have a code in a plastic cartridge you cant resell or play ever again.

@Olmectron but you cant buy them if you wanted to. And they did state for you can re-download them for now so it isn't gonna be forever eventually they will stop you from downloading

@TCKuma some people like myself like physical media....look at the wii, wii u, ds, 3ds eshop are all currently offline. And look at super mario 3d all-star also isn't available no more. So physical media is important to help preserve gaming history and to have ownership of games you buy especially at $70 and up for a game.

Hopefully it fixes more switch 1 games like tales of symphonia and nier automata and south park fractured but whole and other games that dont work on switch 2

It also hurts some third party companies are still waiting for development kits for the switch 2 so it makes it very difficult to fix games with patches if they cant work on the switch 2

@Kuruwin I mean like you said its better than nothing....ill rather buy a switch 1 game physically and pay for the switch 2 upgrades like I did for zelda breath of the wild and tears of the kingdom. I will eventually pay for the kirby forgotten land switch 2 upgrade too. I think square Enix is being crazy with not letting us upgrade switch 1 versions to switch 2 they rather us buy those game key cards for switch 2...my thing is if the game can fit on a cartridge then let us buy it physically

I think to solve game key cards are to make the game on switch 1 physically and give it a switch 2 upgrade patch 🤔 its a win win for everyone?

@Automated_Unit_4937 but every game needs a game key card look at bravely default remastered or some of these jrpg games that can run on switch 1...not every game needs a game key card and most companies will use it to save on money supposedly

I think the sales are not doing well on switch 2 because of the game key cards imo.

If companies want to put the whole game on a switch 2 cartridge then maybe use video games plus or limited run games if they dont think enough people are not interested in fully physical games and watch how many people will buy it physical

@AG_Awesome it works if you transfer your save from switch 1 but if it's a fresh start it doesn't work and there is a few progression bugs on switch 2

Still no southpark fractured but whole switch 1 fixes yet and can't buy it on switch 2...I have it physical and still not working

@stuie1234 when the servers go down and while im playing the game vs a person that has a Digital game or game key card and they cant play it. I believe games should be made to last and preserved vs controlled by greed. Games are meant to be fun.

Its sad switch 2 is a gamekey card so ill either get it on switch 1 or just play it on my gamecube

@ShadowRJ I agree why waste time and resources to send out a survey to gauge interest for "physical vs digital". Hopefully nintendo listens and figure out a plan to help 3rd parties put the whole game on the cartridge.

@Remerkin then why not add the allegedly $16 cost to the consumer to buy physical with the whole game on the cartridge vs this game key mess. Its an excuse to force people to move to digital. I think once games go all digital there will be games that will disappear and they will take games away from you etc.

Im either gonna buy switch 1 or not at all. the switch 2 should be able to hold the whole game if cyberpunk can do it then they should be able to too. My switch 2 library about to be very slim if they keep up with these game key cards.

I went into the direct with low expectations and it was ok the thing that killed it for me was finding out that most games announced are game key cards. Im a physical collector and the switch 2 is looking more and more disappointing to me. I know game key cards are ok with some people but once the serves get shut down say good bye to your games.

I dont like that most companies are getting funny about this "user Agreement" thing and companies like ubisoft and squarenix for example are against us owning our games and want us to keep buying games knowing they can take it away when they want to....game key cards and in ubisoft words "require players to destroy all copies of a game, both digital and physical, upon termination of the EULA, even if the termination is initiated by Ubisoft. This means that if a game is taken offline or Ubisoft revokes a user's access, the user is obligated to delete all game files and destroy physical copies." Hopefully CD project red doesnt follow them too.

@SillyG sadly its Digital only for switch/switch 2 / steam but for ps4/ps5 physical for Japan only with english subtitles.

@SillyG even digital games are not even yours 100%. You are buying the license to use the games. If this is the future I see alot of pirates sailing the 7 seas lol

If it was all on the cartridge then I would have bought it but this simple game key card mess is making me feel like gaming is going in the wrong direction. A game is meant to enjoyed and shared with friends etc. This Digital future of essentially renting the games vs owning them will push people to hit the 7 seas because if buying isn't owning then pirating isn't stealing lol.

Either 2 things will happen 1.) Nothing or 2.) People speak with their wallets like they did when the original 3ds was released and eventually after 5 months of slow sales. I hope the price drops but only time can tell

It's nice the dlc is coming but putting a time limit on the dlc is a sad thing for people that later down the line want to play the game and the dlc to find out they can't get the dlc......(I'm also looking at you super Mario 3d collection)

@Toastmaster if fans can recompile n64 games to pc then nintendo can do it too. I agree nintendo won't do it but I won't get mad at people that pirate games if they are retro games.

@Dee123 its about preserving gaming history i want to share my gaming history with my kids and just replay some classics....i don't want to pay scalpers or resellers money when I can pay (example nintendo) to play their games. I believe everyone has a right to play classic games and just have fun......isn't gaming suppose to be fun and share the experience with your kids or friends and family etc?

@Toastmaster imagine they released their gamecube/n64 games on pc....they would say millions easily no issues.

If nintendo wants to stop roms online then they should sell their games on pc or make remasters for current systems.

I think remastered games are essential because it helps bring new players into a franchise. I wish alot of the Sony and Nintendo ps2/gamecube era games would come back like zelda ww/tp, Sly Cooper, jak &daxter, eternal darkness, metroid prime 2& 3, god of war (1&2 ofcourse 3), ratchet & clank 2,3), and so many more games they could remaster instead of these ps4 to ps5 remastered games we don't really need.

@LadyCharlie you're right that is kinda crazy to think about like it would be similar to bringing tomb raider (modern version) 2 & 3 and not bring the first one lol
