I still don't think Iwata has been aggressive enough to make a true difference, look at what Spencer has done as the head of the Xbox since late spring 2014, and Iwata's hollow statements from January. smh

MK8 and Forza Horizon 2? Sure, they are both racing, but on very different spectrums.

Back on topic, MK8, taken as a whole, was the most fun I had in 2014......I'm happy it got the nod over Smash U.

On a sidenote, Super Mario Galaxy won Eurogamers "game of the generation" award for the 7th gen.

Do something about the VC, you already lack software in general, so Nintendo's mediocre piece meal apprach to releases is parthetic. I'm not even complaining about price, just give me variety and quality titles.

Mario Kart 8 or Mario Kart DS, no contest.

Ultra Street Fighter 4 on the N3DS, take my money.

Anyways, this us a very solid title, tied with Smash as my fav fighting game for the platform. Tekken 3D kinda sucked but the DOA title was solid, we just need them on the eShop.

I'll buy the complete moon chronicles .....however, I bought episode 1 and I've been a bit disapointed by how lengthy the roll out has been.

The 3DS really needs developers like Renegade and Shin'en so that they can fill in the void left by the large publishers.

Renegade Kid did seem to have a rather mediocre year, but given the vibe of the interview, it looks like they are on track for a very solid 2015.

We complain about it because it makes the eShop a prime target for a flood of super cheap, low tier titles, the very worst in the industry.......it ruins the reputation of the eShop as a service for quality products and it hurts the reputation of Nintendo.

People are dumb enough to buy it for the novelty factor, which just in turn promotes more of this crap.

I realize that Nintendo wants to get any title they can with the lack of big third parties.......but Microsoft and Sony do not have this problem, the one of super low quality, bad IOSish titles. Basement Crawl, the worst game on the PS4, looks multiple times better than this.

Some kind of QCing is needed, this is going beyond your usual cases of shovelware.

How is Kyoto to blame?, the fault lies with Reggie and crew for a bad marketing strategy with a flawed view on supply and demand.

Who cares about story you sissies? Give me a rail, an arwing, tons of crap to shoot, and I'm in heaven.

I would say that at most retailers in the US, Nintendo products command a smaller, but still noticiable amount of shelf space. It's not the Sega Saturn where you just couldn't find the thing.

It's not the retailers fault that they have shelves of Sony and Microsoft stuff, it's Nintendo's fault. Next time properly launch a console that has consumer appeal outside of the small grouping of Nintendo faithful.

While I'm sure it will be fun, I can't see getting more than 15 minutes of enjoyment out of this considering how simplistic this game is.

I think the Wii U just isn't the trendy thing right now, it's true that people are starting to notice the wealth of quality exclusives for it......but still, the PS4 and the XB1 will easily be on the majority of wish lists for Xmas 2014.

I have a feeling this survey isn't far from the truth, well for sure the XB1 and PS4 had higher sales, the only question mark is the 360 and overall percentage number.

The PS4 was the best selling console in NA from launch until this Oct, I think XB1 will take Nov though.

A combination of a solid fall lineup (better than the PS4 IMO), along with lots of marketing, sweeping the kinect 2 under the table, and price cuts down to 350 w software included.

Watch Dogs is NOT a bad game, yeah, yeah, you can complain about Ubi, but in reality it's just as much Nintendo's fault for screwing up the Wii U's launch and scaring away more mature gamers.

It's a good title if your looking for an open world, GTA like title....hopefully they incorporated some gamepad use.

Must be a bit of a ego blow....

Agree that the Dreamcast version was the way to go....

Tons of hours wasted with local co-op.

So the Wii U port beats the version released on hardware from almost 10 years ago.......................sad you even have to compare the two.

The Wii U has enough problems, a bunch of shovel ware in the eShop will not help.

Anybody who buys this is more or less watering down the quality of the eShop.

I do remember playing this title for a couple of minutes at a friends house when I was about 10 or so. It never really left a impression,.........Bomberman, especially during its N64 platforming iterations, just seemed a bit too generic in comparison to what the competition offered, mostly by Rare and Nintendo.

Amiibo, Animal Crossing, Mario Party, etc., you can stay...

Wii-suffix series, Nintendogs, and Brain Age, please go out back and shoot yourself.

Wii U is inherently weaker than both the PS4 and XB1, that's a plain fact. Your kinda crazy to think otherwise.

That being said, is Nintendo able to develop some wonderfully looking games regardless of specs, absolutely. The Wii U has some great looking games, but is it going to be able to run a game like The Division without some limitations? Nope.

Point made, a game like Madden, or any sports title for that matter, could really utilize the Gamepad in interesting ways (picking plays, maybe a first person outfielders view for baseball).

However, third parties aren't gonna go the extra mile unless your console is a success. Who knows as far as EA, but it would be reasonable to speculate that they are the ones who are mostly to blame (just cause). Now it's like Nintendo is trying to appease both sides, those that like the gamepad and those that like more conventional controllers, but are not satisfying either.....

I think most can agree that Ubisoft did a better job of selling the gamepad than what Nintendo has done thus far.

Why do you think the Wii U has had poor sales up to this point than? I'm guessing a lack of appeal to the wider gaming audience, like you pointed out? It's just annoying how the big N was swearing on a grave during the pre-launch timeframe that they were taking third party developers seriously this time.......and although I don't think the current situation is 100% of Kyoto's fault, they do deserve some of the blame for sure.

Also, I didn't know that about Destiny, you can't beat it with online random encounters?? I might cancel my pre-order as well despite enjoying the beta.

A lot of people would rather just use the pro controller for everything and call it a day......and yes, the Wii U gamepad may be a nicely designed piece of kit, but for every person who enjoys the concept, it turns off the other guy in line.

At least it has third party games...

Soon to be third place after the Master Chief collection comes out, and that's with a year head start...

Bottom line though, the Wii U can have a goofy controller and 7th gen graphics, who really cares, it just needs more games in general. I know the people who bought the system a month ago have a backlog, but that really doesn't count,....

I'll tell you why the Wii U is in third place though, it's not the weaker hardware, the gamepad, or the online infrastructure.......it's the lack of software.

PS4 and Wii U is the way to go, although if I had to be forced to choose between two systems, it would be the PS4 and 3DS. That being said, I like the Wii U, but it's far from ideal in a number of areas.

Yeah, remember before the Wii U was launched?......Reggie swore Nintendo was serious this time, all of those great multi-plats we had missed out on during the Wii years, they would be on the Wii U now......with your favorite Big N titles.

It was going to be different this time, etc. etc.

The Wii U has had virtually no new sports games since late 2012....let that sink in for a bit.

Sorry, but virtual console games and indie releases do not make up for the almost complete lack of third party support.

The Wii U simply can't compete software wise with the XBO and PS4, the disparity in actual releases during Q3-Q4 of this year is huge......and unfortunately it won't be getting better. I also fear SSB will not be turning things around, given that MK8 has a superior mass appeal.

As far as the 3DS, 2014 looks kinda weak compared to 2013 software wise, and the 3DS is showing its age pretty fast IMO.

Does anybody know if this game will have support for the pro controller?

Hey, it's a fair trade off, everybody else gets Destiny, Evolve, and Arkham Knight.......we get Disney Planes: Fire and Rescue.

Actually if I'm not mistaken he currently owns two Wii U's......

It's Sony, I'm sure most Japanese have a soft spot for Nintendo,......sure, the Playstation grew out of Kyoto's slip up, but Yoshida probably was also rocking a Famicom back in the day.

That's cool that he mentioned Splatoon by name, shows that he actually pays attention to the industry vice being strictly a suit and tie type of guy.

The graphics look kinda early-mid 7th gen, but with that being said, it looks outrageous in all of the right ways, I'm not expecting rave reviews, but I am expecting an entertaining (if not rightfully dumb) story and lots of solid action.

Day one purchase for me. A refreshing title in the Nintendo published library.

Yeah, as a launch customer I don't have a backlog of first party Wii U titles, however, I am running through the Wind Waker HD again on the Wii U and the PS4 has Valiant Hearts soon.

I really want to get my hands on the 90's Arcade Racer this summer though.
