Re: Talking Point: New Ideas, Not New IPs, Are The Key for Nintendo

siavm

I kind of get what this article is saying but new ip is key. They have been pumping to many games with Mario's face and it is helping sales some but it is also bringing down the Mario brand. Zelda brand is kind of going down this path to. The COD every year model is not something nintendo needs to keep doing they have a lot of ip and new ideas can how them come back but nothing brings in people like a new ip.

Splatoon looks pretty awesome. I am glad Mario is not the face of that game. Ideas are cool but if they don't fit they should not use a ip that exist to make it.

Re: Talking Point: Nintendo Should Beware the Slippery Slope of Sponsored DLC

siavm

Metal gear 4 had a load of sponsored elements in the game. It made the world that much cooler. This is nothing but cool to me. Nintendo said they were doing things like this in that meeting they had. This car is not that out of place here. They will probably only put things like this in places that make sense. So I am down for with this.

Re: Talking Point: Nintendo's Innovative E3 Approach is a Breath of a Fresh Air

siavm

Nintendo definitely did it right this year. Someone on a message board or forum said it kind of the best to me. "A desperate nintendo is a great nintendo for e3" or something like that. When they were winning there press conferences were not the best. But when their backs are against the walls we get new ip, old favorites, and awesome e3 moments.

That smash event was awesome. I just hope like with Sony last year this is the thing that brings good fortune to them this year.
And I loved the robot chicken in the event. I know not to ask Reggie about mother 3.

Re: Talking Point: What We Expect From Nintendo at E3 2014

siavm

Link between worlds was shown in April last year. Two months before E3. Just had to say that. I really do hope they have something good besides smash. More smash news is awesome but there are other games that need time to shine. And I really hope no new Mario is coming this year. I know they did that a lot in the nes and snes gens but I started playing Mario in the 64 era. Where one Mario game is enough to turn heads. I wish they stop trying to annualize Mario and put a star fox, f zero, a long dormant franchise out, or make a AAA new ip that is not downloadable out.

Re: Feature: Our Top 10 Wii U Retail Games - Summer 2014

siavm

I have not played super Mario world yet but I am pretty sure Mario kart 8 is would still be the top of my list right now. I plays great, looks great, and is super fun. And this game feels like the game that will help change nintendo fortunes around and hopefully help bring more great games like this along with it. I really hope they are going for epic at E3. The smash part is already starting the epic for me.

Re: Poll: A Tale of Two Blockbusters as Mario Kart 8 and Watch Dogs Arrive This Week

siavm

I am getting Mario kart this week. I would get watch dogs on wii u but the delay is just hurting it. And I just used the ipad app for watchdogs. It is pretty cool. And since the wii u is not going to work with it I wonder if the online will even be inline with the ps3 and 360 versions. By the time this comes out I will probably have a ps4 and I will probably get it on that. The delay though still makes me wonder if it is even coming though. Ubisoft had another game coming to the wii u in that ghost recon game and that has not shown its face. Sure this game is bigger but with the sales numbers for the wii u they have (like 3%) and almost all western developers not working on nintendo machines anymore who knows if they will bring this out. I know they said a team is working on it but they are not a core team so there work for this could be scrappe. Not to be negative but this is one of the worst times in Nintendo's video game history.

Re: Nintendo Lifts The Lid On Its Plans For E3 2014

siavm

@Yorumi the push on smash is also to drive sells up. New games mean nothing if they just have the same base they have now. No matter what they release they are not in a place of strength now. They need the biggest game they have to drive interest up. They still have the regular show on Tuesday so game info is coming and they are going depth on the games all E3. So if you like smash like me get hype. But they are also having lots of other things and probably some surprises.

Re: Nintendo Lifts The Lid On Its Plans For E3 2014

siavm

@HappyHappyist
Smash is coming this year to two of their systems. And it is a big franchise. And they are still have focusing on other games during the regular e3 online show. You may not like the smash but a lot of us do and nintendo knows that. That is why the push is big. E3 will be good.

Re: Amazon Comes in Low With Mario Kart 8 Wii U Bundle Price, Awesome GamePad Skins on the Way

siavm

Weird to see amazon and wii u in the same article. Here in the US they only sell wii u's through third party sellers. That and the 3ds. Really weird nintendo still has not came to some kind of agreement with them. I just know this also a little reason why it has not been selling well in the US. Knowing that they had a million ps4's at holiday time and now selling it at 7 million now means nintendo of America needs to have this system sold directly again. If not ps4 recommendations for things will just keep creeping in nintendo game selections on the site.

Re: NPD Results Bring Solid 3DS Numbers as Wii U Struggles

siavm

@S-Miyahon if nintendo does not market it better it will not sell. The wii had a new way to play and so nice ads that hot the point out at what it was. The wii u to most still just seems like a wii with a new tablet like controller. And to people who game it is just a gen behind with less games. So nintendo is going to have to have something that gets people on the wii u. Hopefully it is at E3.

Re: Feature: How A Team Of Dedicated Fans Is Fixing Super Smash Bros. Brawl

siavm

I personal find this sickening. They the game is great as is. Sure it is not as good as Melee in some ways but I trust the guy who made it. I am not screwing all the work he put into. Something like this should be like its own game somewhere else not some fan crap that messes with a game I love. If you like Melee play Melee. Don't bring the uniqueness of this game down to say this is better. Luckily with the new games crap like this won't happen again.

Re: Feature: What We Want to See in Nintendo's Super Smash Bros. Direct

siavm

@mostro328 this is only the second direct of the year. No other games out side of kart have release dates, yet this one is not about anything but one game. Nintendo has released kart and smash a month apart to great success to both games. And nintendo in recent years only dedicates a whole direct or press info and previews to a game coming soon. And with a kind of unheard of 4 day announcement of this direct it is less me saying something stupid and you just not paying attention. Or this could be a fall release. I don't really care. I just hope I get to play it this year.

Re: Talking Point: The Timing of Nintendo's Super Smash Bros. Direct Raises Expectations

siavm

Here is something crazy. What if it is releasing this month. And this direct is the kick off to a crazy month of promotions for the game. They have released kart and smash a month apart last time. Maybe that is the plan this time too. I know that sounds crazy but they have stealth launched games before like this. But most likely is a later date revealed, characters, some game modes, and maybe even how the online will work this time.

Re: Former Criterion Boss Alex Ward Laments Issues With Releasing Need For Speed On Wii U

siavm

I was not buying a months old port I could have on other systems. I bought monter hunter 3 ultimate instead because unlike need for speed that was a game that really was worth getting again or for the first time. And the game was like $30 on other systems versus full price on wii u. If the game came around the same time it may have did better. Sure a little better is good but not if it comes with a wait a is barely noticeable to the average person.

Re: Watch_Dogs Wii U 2014 Release a "Possibility", Bucharest Studio to Make "Good Use" of the System

siavm

The wii u version was only shown for a few seconds in a nintendo direct last year. And no gamepad use has been shown. The game was supposed to come out last year and still nothing on the wii u version other than this and maybe it cancelled articles. I don't think they can use the gamepad for anything other than a menu and off tv play. And by the time it comes out the other versions may already have their prices dropped. If so one wants to save third party games on wii u with this go ahead. I will cancel my wii u preorder on amazon. I may just wait to I get a ps4 to get this game.

Re: Nicalis Boss Tyrone Rodriguez Thinks The Wii U GamePad Is "A Waste Of Time And Resources"

siavm

Weird how some of you just turn on people bringing games to the wii and now the wii u. The gamepad has not done what the wiimote did. The wii mote brought in a new way to play, the gamepad to most just seems like what happens when the low res tablet meets consoles. The result as seen as been not so great. Rayman is the only game I have played that really used the gamepad well. Normally that is nintendo job to showcase there games the best but they are not using the pad to great degrees. And the games this year look great but don't any of them, minus maybe x, look to use it for much other than a menu.

Re: Airtight Games Feels That Murdered: Soul Suspect "Doesn't Fit" On Wii U

siavm

@unrandomsam monster hunter 3 was made for the wii. And ported to the 3ds. And a year later to wii u and 3ds for the rest of the world. Game was not made for the wii u original but they got it to work good. Meaning even if a game is not original made for the system it can be changed like re4 on wii. Don't tell me that is not the best way to play that game. They can make it work but they see no profit in doing so. So like I said crap excuse. Also deus ex was released on multiple systems before the wii u and after the wii u. Square did it with that game why not this one?

Re: Airtight Games Feels That Murdered: Soul Suspect "Doesn't Fit" On Wii U

siavm

Something is wrong here. That was one of the worse excuses I have ever heard. Brutality honest is, "third party games don't sell so we are not bringing it over." This crap excuse is just crap. The best games on wii u barely use the pad in great ways. Rayman used it good but was brought to other systems. And the wii u gamepad has all the buttons so any excuse pass it won't sell is crap. Remember that.

Re: Watch_Dogs Delayed Again on Wii U, Will Arrive on the System After Other Platforms

siavm

I was going to buy the game last year. But this delay screwed with that. Now by the time the game comes out I may have a ps4. I may just get it on that. And at this rate cancelling this game would be better than the fate it is going to get. Third parties have been bad on nintendo consoles for almost two decades. This is the worst it has been and with so many things to put games on nintendo is at a very big disadvantage. It is really going to depend on how nintendo does things this year. It may not bring third party but at least it will show they can still can keep us fans coming back.

Re: EA Germany Survey Fails To Acknowledge The Wii U

siavm

We need to stop acting like this is an EA and nintendo thing. This is a nintendo every major third party thing. You people talking are not buying third party games and neither is anyone else for the wii u. And this has been going on for years now. Sure they have not been good ports but they are the games nintendo let the third parties put out. And we need to stop acting like nintendo is competing with the other consoles. They have said they are not. And since they are not, especially with the hardware they have out what do you think third parties are going to do. Sure the wii u is closer than the wii was in specs to the systems it is up against but the sales are about to be eclipsed by the other two in a few months. So unless nintendo changes expect the worst third party support nintendo has ever seen. And that may lead to other things if nintendo does not get the support and fans don't buy the third party games.

Re: Poll: As the PS4 Arrives, What Do You Think of the 'New Gen' Environment for Wii U?

siavm

The reason the wii came out on time was wii sports. I bought a lot of new people in. Us nintendo fans were there but were pretty outmatched by the new gamers young and old. Now that was died. It is pretty much us nintendo fans supporting it now and a very small number compared to the wii numbers of new gamers. Unless nintendo has another wii sports like game coming out next year third is sadly were they are staying. Smash and Mario kart are big but they did not bring the numbers like wii sports brought in. I am still going to support it but I may get a ps4 before the first price drop.

Re: Talking Point: Nintendo's Safe and Family-Friendly Focus is Integral to Its Fortunes

siavm

I went to check the parental settings in the system and it has a feature that blocks sharing of data. Which means if they their parental controls and told parents to put them in place nothing would be getting out to kids. Meaning there is no reason to shut this down. And you write this like this is a new service. This has been out for almost two years. I have not seen any articles especially ones that say this is not safe for children to use. This is the first I seen from you guys. The only thing I have seen is articles saying this needs to be more user friendly. So it is weird seeing this article up when in the past you all would have not written this for this app.

Re: Iwata: Wii Fit U's Free Trial Period Will Improve Wii U Sales Momentum

siavm

The concept behind it is cool. If you have a balance board and a wii u just buy the $20 meter and you are in. But I don't have a balance board so this is worthless to me. And paying $90 for something I will use for a little is not a seller for me. And since people already know what wii fit is I doubt they will be selling a lot of these.

Now if they made like a smash or Mario kart beta for this holiday that came with systems and was available to download now they could build buzz and start moving more systems. They have to understand their casual efforts are not going to be that effective anymore thanks to other devices out their.

What was effective though for them this year was the 3ds. And it worked because they released games we wanted to play for it for almost the whole year. But seeing as how they are struggling to even make casual games on time with the wii u I fear they may not even close to get the wii u where they need to get it before the x1 and ps4 completely make it look like just the other console.

Nintendo needs to get some third parties on board to full out next year and more first party games or wii u might not even be a quarter the success the wii was.
