Re: Review: Metroid (3DS eShop / NES)

I tried to play this the other day and the lack of a map and low health made it ridiculous. Hell, have those two things and the game would be a little more playable. This was obviously a Nintendo Power sort of game. I might try it again but if not than its Super Metroid for me.

Re: Talking Point: The Wii U's Next-Gen Challenge Starts to Take Shape

I think Xbox one is going to lose a lot of their audience, and I NEVER thought I would ever say that. Nintendo should really win the console war at this point, they're the only company offering something truly unique. Marketing and games and the big N will be fine. Can they do that? Time will tell, Nintendo is known from straying from obvious and logical decisions...

Re: Konami: We Had To Take Risks With Castlevania To Prevent It Becoming Like Mega Man

scrubbyscum999

I don't like this new direction, not because its new. I've seen series I liked make big changes I was OK with. The problem is they lost the essence of Castlevania. It doesn't have the same feel. I wanted a new direction, but not like this. As for Mega Man, its a cheap blow and with Konami's franchises they shouldn't be talking (Bomberman anyone?). Capcom needs to actually MAKE a MM game first before they evolve the series though. I don't want these franchises going sour, or dying off all together.

Re: Talking Point: The Wii U's Identity Crisis

Lets be honest, the ads are pretty atrocious. What Nintendo needs are adds that are cool. Mix the 90s ads with some modern commercial humor and cut down on the cheese. The thing is people don't even know this thing exists. "Core" gamers don't even have Nintendo on their radar. When they advertised Awakening and Luigi's mansion 2 guess what, people bought it. Amazing what can happen when people know your product exists. This is a total failure on Nintendo's part. Why they can't apply their own logic for 3ds games to the Wii U is beyond me. What's the point of releasing it early if your not going to push for it? Might as well have released at the same time as their competitors. I usually trust the big N, but I have to admit if they have a plan, I sure don't fricking see it.

Re: Talking Point: Warren Spector Asks, Where Are Gaming's Grown-Ups?

scrubbyscum999

@Chrono_Cross Well you are just a ray of sunshine? I don't think video games need to "grow up". Video games need to just be video games. How video games approach serious subjects are different than movies. Now I do believe video games should have more freedom exploring certain issues like sexual relationships and such, but I don't feel comfortable with this grown up narrative. Video games are a unique medium that does things a certain way.

Re: Talking Point: Warren Spector Asks, Where Are Gaming's Grown-Ups?

scrubbyscum999

Great narratives in games have been around since SNES days. The thing is though that certain games focus on different things. An RPG will probably focus more on story than a run and gun. Nothing wrong with that, just a different approach. Games are an interactive medium that has GAMEPLAY at its core. Whether it's making decisions or fast reflexes, that's what sets games apart. I do feel that games should be treated more maturely, but I don't want to make some super long mature game just for the sake of being mature. That's what I'm afraid this guy is promoting judging by his language. Video games are different from movies we should remember that and not lose sight by making pretentious boring games in the name of "mature".

Re: Talking Point: An Open Letter To Nintendo

Partially agree, Nintendo needs to step up the support. This is especially true for Japanese devs since that should be sort of a given. Yet, anyone who says Zelda hasn't been exciting since Ocarina is going to have some things wrong. TP is WAY better than Ocarina. I'm sorry but the Zelda series has been progressing comfortably and is way better now and then because they are a series that makes REAL progress. That and I would also note that I really feel the big N should go more niche Japanese system. I don't know if the big N can really break into the big Western games since that's not their fanbase. These other gamers may not come to the big N no matter what. They should sell themselves as the Niche system because it is a large market and would be easy for them to do.

Re: Feature: A Short History of Luigi

scrubbyscum999

I love Luigi, he has a lot of personality. Mario is great but I think most Nintendo fans like Luigi better because they spent more time making Luigi a unique character. Plus, he's got Daisy, another plus. I wish Daisy would make a major appearance along with Luigi (a bit off topic).

Re: Square Enix CEO Resigns Ahead of Financial Losses

scrubbyscum999

Good, maybe SE will get it's act together. They have been really weak in the past few years. How about they get creative, something, ANYTHING better than what they've been doing. Start getting serious about making good games again instead of screwing around like you've been doing SE.

Re: Picdun 2: Witch’s Curse Heading For Europe

Sex sells, notice how all their, assets, run at different sizes. They devs wouldn't do it if they A) didn't like it & B) knew it wouldn't sell more copies. I as much as any guy is a victim of such tactics. It works, whether you agree or not its right, because a lot of guys are just going to automatically be attracted. Heck, I came here and posted this comment.

Re: Rumour: Ubisoft's Watch Dogs Is Coming To The Wii U

scrubbyscum999

@Peach64 @SCAR392 Hey I'm sure it will be a great game but its not my cup of tea. Nothing wrong with that. It's like saying Mario is not someone's cup of tea. I'm going to disagree but hey that's the persons taste, nothing wrong with that. I would be lying if I were to tell you I had any interest in this game. Tons of games are amazing that I don't like because they just don't fit me.

Re: Nintendo Receives Zero BAFTA Game Awards Nominations

scrubbyscum999

?...seems a little odd Nintendo couldn't find ONE spot in there somewhere. They had a pretty decent run this year. No RPG category? If they had that Xenoblade would HAVE to be in there somewhere. Oh well, let's be honest these awards only mean so much any, games, movies, and otherwise.
