Re: Feature: Nintendo Banks on Its Old Money Makers

scrubbyscum999

I could kind of understand the rise in traditional IPs because of the loss, but the fact that I am not excited at all about NSMB2 speaks volumes. Nintendo needs to make sure they not only don't overplay Mario & friends, but focus on new IPs or reviving lesser known ones and promoting them like they have with Kid Icarus. Seriously, when is the last time we have seen any sort of effort in advertising with Nintendo before Uprising? Hopefully they will keep their approach they used with Uprising and promote other titles they have in the bank. They also need to not take too much spotlight from third-party games though, they NEED Big 3rd-party titles this time around.

Re: Talking Point: Lessons to be Learned from WiiWare and Beamdog

Just one of the three big things Nintendo needs to work on for the Wii U, Lots of power for the system, third party support, and Online in general. Like may things with online with Nintendo, needs major work. It doesn't bother me personally that much, but I too want a change. At the same time, Beamdog's comments really were overly harsh, and pretty unprofessional. If the Wii U becomes a big success with a great online system that fixes all the problems, they are going to look pretty foolish. In the end though, Nintendo has a lot to improve with the Wii U coming, but if they succeed in solving these problems they just might be rewarded.

Re: Talking Point: Is Nintendo Over-Reliant on Super Mario?

Meh, I have been realizing a lot of Mario games as of late. I think they should cool it down a little just to come up with innovative ideas like Galaxy. At the same time, Mario makes money and it's really good. You also have to realize that all series have some elements that are used over and over again because that what makes the game (Zelda, Pokemon, Castlevania, etc.). Yet anyone can take a break from a series if they feel like it. Pokemon is my favorite series but I haven't played it in forever because I haven't had time to play video games till recently and I wanted to play other stuff, since I was playing with only a few breaks with Pokemon since I first really got into gaming with Emerald back in 2005, in elementary school. If they make too many Marios I will simply limit myself. I still want Mario to succeed though, so I hope they take a small break.

Super Mario World & Super Mario Galaxy hands down. Super Mario World had an awesome overworld map, great level design, lots of levels, a few really simple but cool power ups, etc. Super Mario Galaxy was innovative and really a game that was truly magical, have all 241 stars in that game. To me, Galaxy is a lot better than 64, I mean a lot, and speaking 64 was a historical game and a masterpiece, that says a lot. I have not played SMG2 or Sunshine so I am leaving those out.

Re: Feature: 20 Years of the Super NES

scrubbyscum999

Arguably the greatest console of all time. I never got to own one, I was born in 1995. I do play SNES games on the Wii VC though, and they are amazing. Chrono Trigger, Super Mario World (I played the GBA port as a kid), Link to the Past, Super Castlevania IV, the list goes on and on. This is the pinnacle of gaming, and the fact that new generations still play these SNES games show its timeless. Never has there been one system with so many legendary experiences. It may not stay at the top forever, but it hasn't been beaten yet after 20 years.

Re: Talking Point: What If Nintendo Became a Third Party?

scrubbyscum999

@SuperLink Yes, I noticed that
@XCWarrior Couldn't say it better

I don't have much to say, I just want to point out that Nintendo is unique. These investors don't understand that Nintendo is a company that works on it's own systems, it's own terms. This is one of the things that makes it great. It can do what it wants, how it wants. Nintendo is far from perfect, but they are the very best. Nintendo needs to keep on doing what they do best, making good games without any barriers. I hope Nintendo gets a better online presence, but I am willing trade in a good online system for great single player experiences or local multiplayer.

Re: Talking Point: The Great Nintendo 3DS Price Drop Debate

scrubbyscum999

They released it too early, they have no games for it, and they don't advertise enough. Of course it looks bad now, though the DS didn't have a stellar start and looked how that turned out. I got a 3DS for the Ambassador program only, I do not plan to mess with it too much. I still want to play some DS games. When I come back Nintendo, I expect the 3DS to have games.

Re: Nintendo DS Sales Figures Make Wii's Look Tiny

scrubbyscum999

I have way more DS games than Wii games, though my Wi has a bunch of VC games. I am definitively going to buy some more DS games since prices for a lot of the games are lower. Let's see, ..., I have 14 DS games, 7 of which have pokemon in the name. I only have 5 Wii retail games, though I hope to buy more sometime. VC has been taking up most of my Wii time. I own 16 VC games, I plan on buying more, probably a lot more.

Re: Feature: The Future of Nintendo Gaming - 2D or Not 2D?

scrubbyscum999

2D gaming will always be a staple of games in general. The fact that many games still use 2D graphics when 3D is fully available is evidence of that. I love 2D gaming, it's why I love buying SNES VC games.

@11 So basically if it doesn't have a wide exploration element it sucks. That is just ridiculous. That means Super Mario Galaxy is a bad game, which is a bunch of hogwash. I just don't see how you can say that seriously. There is more than one way to do things.
