....this is looks so stupid it really is hilarious. I love the comments on this article. The people who made this really should be ashamed of themselves.
The next generation starts with whoever releases their "next" console first. The next generation doesn't get really revved up until everybody has their console in the race. That's all that Capcom is saying. You don't have to like Capcom, heck their DLC policy is terrible. No Megaman, what? However, their position seems to be one of indifference. The last geberation wasn't really revved up until the Wii and PS3 came out.
As for the power of the Wii U, we really don't know until they give us some info on September 13. I just really hope Nintendo is willing to make the system more powerful and expensive so they don't have poor 3rd party support. The only question is that are consumers and developers willing to pay more money to buy and make games. That is pretty much what will determine which system will be successful and perhaps whether Nintendo's competitors will released expensive systems again.
If they are leasing it this cheap it better be able to keep up with Sony and Microsoft systems. I am not ready for another generation of a Nintendo system with no third party support because of the system's lack of power. You guys need to be thinking about the future, not just launch day.
I love the original. I liked the toy concept and the simpler battle system is interesting. Plus, for now it's a way to play Smash Bros. when I am not in the mood for slipping.
This all looks cool. Like what others have said, if they can keep trolls and spoilers away we should be good. I like the idea of a central hub for the Nintendo community. It would be nice to have a main place to just meet Nintendo fans.
@OlympicCho Well I guess if it's something extreme or the person is too young but how the heck is sex on the same level as violence? Heck, without it we wouldn't be here.
I will reiterate what a lot of people have been saying, many "gamers" nowadays feel that a game needs to be really violent to be good. This attitude in gaming has gotten REALLY BAD over the last decade. I don't believe in censorship, but when people start judging how good games are based on if it has enough violence that is wrong. I think a lot of the younger players are playing these violent games and not only messes up their idea of what a good game is, it messes them up in the head generally. A lot of these kids simply can't handle these mature games and they become annoying macho obsessed people when they get older as teens and adults(mainly in the case of boys). Ironically, they become less mature when they play mature games when they are younger.
I think it's bad to have this type of attitude because it gives violent games that suck more credit than they deserve and non violent games less credit than they deserve. A violent game can be good, heck, it can be a great game. Violence however does not automatically mean the game is good. This idea that all game under the M rating are crappy could very well drive down the quality of games if it just keeps going. I do find people have this idea that violent games automatically equal good games are immature, macho obsessed, and overall just extremely dumb and childish. Sadly, these type of "gamers" have made up a significant portion of the market. It's also funny that violence is treated with open arms in society (at least in the US) but sex is considered some demon that should be subtle and avoided. If anything, violence is bad, sex really isn't bad at all. Too much violence will be very harmful while sex really isn't going to hurt anybody. Not saying we should encourage sex instead but people don't get hurt with sex. I find that amusing society thinks his way.
Bravely Default and Project X Zone SHOULD make it over to NA and EU, don't see why they wouldn't speaking the companies involved. Oh yes, thank you Tsuchinoko, your contributions are very much appreciated.
NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! This seriously has made me depressed. I started getting Nintendo Power in the Holidays 2006 and has been such an amazing magazine. It really was the best of video game journalism. A lot of my generation with the DS and Wii is connected with Nintendo Power, and it signaled my initiation as a true Nintendo fan. Nintendo Power, I will truly miss you.
YEEEEEESSSS!!!! I love TWEWY! It was such an original game and was really one of the highlights of the seventh generation of video games as a whole. The game was so good. It even got into Nintendo Power's top ten games of the decade list. I don't know about top ten but the game is easily in a top 5 or 3 of best DS games. Really hope this is a sequel.
Luigi is cooler than Mario. From what I've seen, it's pretty evenly divided when asked Mario fans which brother they like better, with a very slight lean toward Luigi. Luigi is the greatest, man.
I guess it makes sense for NSMBU to be a launch title but I still wish they spaced this out or something. I mean, having all these Mario games at once and then not seeing Mario for who knows how long (aside from 3D Mario)? Still seems a little messed up. I hope they make a more original 2D Mario game. Not saying NSMB2 and NSMBU are/will be bad but I wish they were a little more experimental.
Nintendo definitely needs power, and I am worried they won't have it. However, in the other hand the question is will people (consumers and developers) be willing to pay high prices for consoles? Will the next generation be much more powerful than the last? Those are the two main questions.
@Joshers744
Wow, all of that really sucks. There are a ton of Gamestops where I live in central Florida, they're like gas stations. The one I go to is pretty Nintendo friendly, more attention to obviously the games like COD but the people who work there know a little about Nintendo. I picked up my copy of The Last Story today and I saw a good amount of people pre ordered it.
Anyway, I guess this is good for the UK gamers interested in NSMB2. I am not all that interested and not planning to pick it up anytime soon.
All great ideas. I am still waiting for a fully fledged Pokemon main series console game. The amount of material they could be able to put into it and it's impact would be amazing. I can't even imagine how much money it would make (head explodes from the pure thought of it).
You guys make me feel young. My first games were Pac Man GBC and Super Mario Advance 2: Super Mario World with my purple GBA. Pokemon Emerald is what made me a gamer though.
I need to get a 3DS game, I still have not gotten one game. After beating Xenoblade and with Last Story coming out, I will give my 3DS some actual bonding time. I am going to pre-order this and try and get it along with a maybe two other games. Will probably pick Kid Icarus for one of them then Devil Survivor Overclocked for the other.
At first it seems like a good idea, but when you think about it it's not. No competition can lead to little innovation. Nintendo may get sucked in by Sony and Microsoft to make a system with all the stuff I don't like about those two. I like being a Nintendo fanboy. Even with all the annoying xbox and sony fanboys I think it's best the way it is. I like the idea of supporting Nintendo, not just some weird general console.
They definitely need to enforce these ratings, they serve a purpose. I have seen to many immature young kids who minds are poisoned by M rated games. A lot of these kids just are not mature enough and it really screws up there mind. We already have people who are immature and are 18+. These kids will stay immature for life a lot of times if they are screwed up. Some kids are ready for mature games but most aren't. I remember I was a little scared of Mortal Kombat for Playstation 1 when I was like 6 or something.
Sadly, most of this is due to bad parents. Sadly, if the parents are not very smart it often negatively affects the kids. I never had much interest in M rated games, even though I am 17 now and can play them. I am not saying M rated games are inherently bad, but they are rated M for a reason.
You can start by trying to actually teach people how to play the games instead of having this ridiculous learning curve. I like fighting games, but I notoriously The combos are hard to learn for me, and often times it seems like they give you the game expecting you know what to do and then some. Street Fighter is very guilty of this. I don't want to brag but I consider myself pretty good at video games. Nevertheless, fighting games I have yet to been able to master on any level, except Smash Bros, but I am not so sure that even really counts.
I like Tekken, but NO TEKKEN CHARACTERS IN SSB! I would be fine with Pacman but I don't think Tekken would fit SSB and I don't feel a lot of other Namco characters really deserve to be full blown characters or even would fit.
If Nintendo would ever become software only company, it would be in some UNFORESEEABLE future. They are just too successful and frankly simply too good to all of a sudden not be able to make hardware anymore. Nintendo won the console war this generation in terms of console sales by a long shot, does anyone remember that? Microsoft still can't get a hold on the Japanese market, has anyone forgot that? I really don't see how Nintendo is headed to get out of the hardware race. Nintendo if anything is more powerful than ever.
