We reported yesterday that the latest Famitsu magazine would have fresh information on the 3DS port of Shin Megami Tensei: Devil Survivor 2 — also dubbed Break Record — in Japan, and quite a few details have indeed been released.
The game has been given a summer release window in Japan, along with full voice work for the characters and anime sequences with 3D effects — however, graphically it is said to be similar to the DS version, with the action apparently taking place on the bottom screen like in Shin Megami Tensei: Devil Survivor Overclocked. Kou Yoshinari — best known for his artwork and character designs in the Valkyrie Profile video game series — will be handling all illustrations for the game.
Gamers can choose to play the 'original scenario', where the story is the same as the original but with new features and enhancements, or the 'new scenario', which is set to take place after the ending and features another invasion.
The original DS version of Devil Survivor 2 hasn't reached Europe yet, releasing in North America on 28th February last year. Ghostlight — a potential publisher of the title — hasn't dismissed the fact that it may land in the region at some point, so all hope isn't lost.

Cool. Can't wait for this to get localized!
Hype!
With these games being converted from DS to 3DS I wish sega would consider porting Phantasy Star Zero with some addon content. If they would do so it would be the best Online multiplayer co-op the 3DS has. All we can do is dream. Devil Survivor will be a good filler until that time
Can't wait to try the first game this week
(If I'll find it... seems retailers doesn't even know it exist...)
No doubt on the quality, just not sure I can complete a Shin Megami Tensei game, they are all so rich XD
But if I will succeed than I will need this "break record" here, heard me Ghostlight? ^O^
Devil Survivor 2 is amazing...
I'll get Devil Survivor and if it delivers as much as I hope, I' ll wait for this one.
I bough the original DS2 upon release but haven't even touched it yet because I'm still playing Overclocked. I will buy this if it is localized.
So many Shin Megami Tensei games coming to DS & 3DS lately. Strange Journey, Soul Hackers, Devil Survivor, Devil Survivor 2, Persona, etc.
Looking foward to the voice acting... I only just started DS2 and I like the characters. I might buy the remake. I wish they could make the text in the battles bigger, though.
Why are they porting fairly new DS games to 3DS?...
I hope it has enough added contents, but having "new scenario" sure is tempting. Megidoladyne!!
At this point, I'll probably just import a Japanese 3DS LL and along with this game (and some other games) instead of waiting 3 years for Ghostlight to publish it in Europe.
Also can't unsee that female Yamato, which I guess is his (twin?) sister.
This is probably never coming to Europe, as with Soul Hackers I guess...
sweet cant wait to pick that up, hopfully i finish overclocked before soul hackers before this one comes out lol
@SMEXIZELDAMAN Why do you think? To make more money and allow the games to have a longer life span on the new system rather than the dead system. I am glad this is happening. I hate the DS emulation on the 3DS and this will allow the Devil Survivor games to be played on the new hardware and survive longer.
Gods this is a "must buy" for me. I've spent more that 150hrs on Devil Survivor Overcloked and I haven't reached all of the posible endings =)
I hope Ghostlight localises this for Europe and I'm looking forward to playing its predecessor. SMT: DSO arrived today but I have to wait for my birthday to play it. It was pre-ordered from the Ghostlight online store so that could be why it arrived so early.
Own most of the SMT games but boy if I still can't get into them. Maybe they are just not for me, I've been buying them since PS1.
Has anyone else noticed the article says someone other than Suzuhito Yasuda is doing the artwork? He's done the character illustrations for all Devil Survivor games and has been popular and in other games lately. Why is someone else doing the artwork now?
@LexKitteh Are you talking about Kou Yoshinari that's been mentioned in this article? It probably wasn't 100% clear when this article was posted, but apparently Kou Yoshinari "is the director of the new anime sequences for the game". So Suzuhito Yasuda is still responsible for the character designs
@DashDG
Have you already beat the fallen star?
Play this game on the DS to get all endings was over 150 Want to play it again on the 3ds WOOOO
