Re: Wario Land 2 is Japan-Bound

@FonistofCruxis
I actually think there's a good chance Nintendo will release Virtual Boy VC games at some point, especially after they've released most of their good GB/GBC/GB Advance games. So probably not within the next year but maybe sometime after that.

Re: Nintendo Leaves BAFTA Empty-Handed

sc100

Skyrim pretty much cleaned house over here in the US when it came to video game awards so I'm surprised it didn't win anything at BAFTA. It just shows you how subjective tastes are in things, whether that be video games, music or films.

Re: SEGA Drops Four Sonic Games from Japanese VC

sc100

These could have been removed because of very low sales. As some have mentioned, Sonic was never popular in Japan. Sales of Sonic games are likely much higher in the West and because of that I'm not worried that they'll be removed here.

Re: Gears of War Developer Expects Wii U Success

sc100

The graphical gap between the Wii U and the next Sony and Microsoft systems won't be anywhere near as large as the gap between the Wii and the PS3 and 360. The huge gap that exists now is because Nintendo purposefully chose to limit the Wii's power and they used technology that was already dated for the time while Microsoft and Sony used state-of-the-art technology. But this time Nintendo is using state-of-the-art technology for the Wii U so the next systems from Microsoft and Sony in a year or two won't be that dramatically more powerful than Nintendo's system. Plus, they'll all have the same resolutions.

Re: That Zelda Timeline Makes a Bit More Sense Now

sc100

I understand the rationale behind the third timeline and how it connects the games but I'm trying to understand if it's a purely hypothetical "what if" scenario (Link wasn't actually killed by Ganon but this is what would have happened if he had been...) or if a certain timesplit in OOT caused it, such as when Link traveled through time or was in the Chamber of Sages (which is outside of time, right?) I think either option works but I like better the idea of the third timeline actually having been created (within the OOT storyline) rather than the whole timeline being a hypothetical scenario.

Re: That Zelda Timeline Makes a Bit More Sense Now

sc100

Now that a third timeline (the "Link fails" one) has been confirmed we need a new game for it. The other timelines have been getting all the love for the last decade or so. I'd still love to see a sequel to Zelda 2.

Re: Rumour: Official Legend of Zelda Series Timeline Revealed

sc100

No need to cry @FluttershyGuy! Evil still doesn't win in the third timeline starting scenario. Ganon is still defeated, it just isn't by Link.

Also, Link doesn't have to die in this scenario. He could have been too injured to continue fighting or something. Or maybe in the process of time traveling something goes wrong and he's not able to return back to Hyrule.

Re: Rumour: Official Legend of Zelda Series Timeline Revealed

sc100

@Linkstrikesback makes a good point of how in the ALTTP storyline Ganon is sealed away by the sages without the help of Link. A lot of people forget that. Maybe the third timeline is the way Nintendo has chosen to reconcile the different accounts of the Imprisoning War found in ALTTP and OOT. Actually, I think it works pretty well.

Re: Rumour: Official Legend of Zelda Series Timeline Revealed

Link didn't travel 7 years into the future after he got the master sword when he was 10 years old. He simply fell asleep in the sacred realm and awoke 7 years later when he was ready to wield the sword. Therefore, a timeline split wouldn't happen until he was 17 and he first traveled back in time to be young Link again to fulfill some quest in the game.

Re: Review: 3D Classics: Kirby's Adventure (3DSWare)

sc100

I really like the 3D effect of this game and think it adds a lot. It's not as amazing as in, say, Ocarina of Time 3D but I think it makes the game look a lot better with the backgrounds looking less stale and with different depths. Plus, these NES games look really good on the 3DS as we saw with the 10 NES ambassador games. If you really like Kirby's Adventure, I'd say definitely pick it up.

Re: Review: The Legend of Zelda: Skyward Sword (Wii)

sc100

EGM's review is the only one I've read besides the GameSpot one that complains about the controls. All of the other reviews praise the controls to a great degree. GameSpot usually gives lower scores than the other review sites, regardless of the system. They''re pretty harsh critics over there. They give 10s about as often as Halley's Comet comes around.

Re: Nintendo Can Recover From Loss, says EA Vice President

sc100

Nintendo is nowhere near where Sega was 10 years ago before they had to leave the hardware business. It took six consecutive years of very poor console sales before Sega had to leave. Nintendo is just coming off of two very successful consoles and has a ton of cash. It's going to take many consecutive years of poor console sales before Nintendo has to leave the hardware business. In other words, it's not going to happen any time soon.

Re: Review: Mario Golf: Toadstool Tour (GameCube)

sc100

I absolutely loved the N64 version and knew this was probably great as well but never got around to buying it. Too much other stuff going on in my life at the time. This review may make me get this game as soon as I can. I think it'll come to GameCube VC at some point but that could be a number of years from now as GameCube VC hasn't even been announced yet. Better to get this now.

Re: Iwata Unsure if Nintendo Will Sell Wii U At a Loss

sc100

I think the console is awesome. There will be a lot of new, ingenious ways to play games with that controller. We just need good games that properly take advantage of the new technology. Nintendo needs to lead the way to show other developers what can be done. Also, all of the Nintendo franchises will look amazing in HD.
