Re: Conker's Bad Fur Day Madness and Vulgarity The Work of "Twisted Genius"

Truly an original, fun game. The multiplayer in this game was awesome as well, especially the Saving Private Ryan spoof level. My roommates and I played it for months and months. Even though it's unlikely at this point, I'd love for this game to come to Virtual Console. Hopefully Rare will get out from under Microsoft at some point.

Re: Fresh Animal Crossing 3DS Details Emerge

sc100

The good thing is that even though this game won't be coming out in the West until next year it will be coming out in Japan in a couple months so soon we'll get to see everything that's in the game.

Re: Review: Kirby's Pinball Land (3DS eShop / Game Boy)

sc100

I've been having fun with this game and find it quite challenging too, which is good. You definitely shouldn't go into this game expecting realistic pinball or you'll be disappointed. Not a whole lot of content, though. I'd probably give the game a 6 and $2.99 is a better price for it.

Re: 3D Won't Be a "Key Feature" of Future Nintendo Consoles

sc100

I love the 3D effect, especially in Ocarina of Time 3D and Pilotwings Resort. To me, it really offers a brand-new gameplay experience if it's done right, something that makes it seem more like you're really there. Some parts of Super Mario 3D Land also had great 3D moments.

Re: Site News: James Finds a Warp Zone

sc100

I was really sad when I read that you would be leaving. You've written some of the wittiest and most professional articles I've ever read and you had great interaction with the NL community. I'm glad you'll be able to take your skills to Nintendo to help make it even better and I think you'll be surprised how fast you'll move up in the company.

Re: Club Nintendo's Gold and Platinum Prizes Have Emerged

sc100

Those are some of the nicest playing cards I've ever seen. And since I'm a big fan of playing cards I guess you know what I'm getting! Those cards look really durable too, which is always a good thing. Also, if Mario is the King, who's the Ace? Bowser? Miyamoto?

Re: Iwata: Wii U Won't Repeat 3DS Price Mistake

sc100

Based on Nintendo's comments recently, I think it's very likely the Wii U will debut at 250 US dollars, definitely not above 300. I think there will be only one bundle option but there will be white and black versions and it'll also not come with the Pro Controller or a Wiimote. It'll also be interesting to see what an extra Wii U GamePad will cost. I'm thinking anywhere between $50 to $80.

Re: Wii U Will be a 'Great Value Proposition'

sc100

I'm still thinking 250-300 US dollars. Because Nintendo didn't go as advanced with the graphics as they could have they'll be able to afford to keep the price low, which is what they need for the demographic they target. I think one reason Microsoft and Sony don't want to release new, more powerful systems right now is because they can't sell them at a low enough price yet. Even Microsoft and Sony can't afford to release systems above $400, especially in the current economy. And Sony definitely doesn't want to repeat the same mistake as with the PS3. I'm also thinking there's a good chance of Nintendo Land being a pack-in like Wii Sports. I think it would be the smart thing to do because a lot of people don't have that much money left over to spend on a game after they just spent a lot of money on a new console. And, of course, the game really shows off the Wii U's new capabilities.I don't think the Pro Controller will be a pack-in.

Re: E3 2012: Our View of Nintendo's E3

sc100

People were disappointed with Nintendo Land because they were hoping for something else but I think people will find Nintendo Land is going to be a lot of fun, especially as it's hooked up to the Miiverse. I also think Animal Crossing 3DS was delayed so they could integrate Miiverse into it, which should be really cool and fit the series well.

Re: You Can Transfer Wii VC Games to Wii U

sc100

I'm not surprised. This is what I was expecting. It's almost certain that you'll be able to transfer the save data as well, especially since it's separate from the game file. As for how I'll play the VC games, I'd like to use the Wii U Pro Controller since it's wireless. I like the Classic Controller Pro but I don't like how I have to have it plugged into a Wiimote sitting next to me.

Re: E3 2012: Wii U Pro Controller Offers More Options

sc100

I like how with the Wii U there are now so many controller options: a traditional controller that's wireless, motion controls through a Wiimote and the Wii U game pad and all the unique things that brings. There are cool things with all three ways of playing and it allows you to play games in totally different kinds of ways.

Re: Let Animal Crossing be the Soundtrack to Your Day

sc100

I didn't start playing Animal Crossing until the Wii version. Now that I play it basically every day I wish I had played it when it came out for the GameCube. The ability to be mayor in the upcoming 3DS version should add a lot to the series and make for a totally new Animal Crossing experience. There is a lot of other new stuff as well, like swimming, greater clothing customization, new furniture, etc. I hope it comes out in NA when it comes out in Japan!

Re: Talking Point: Why Skyward Sword Sales Failed to Soar

sc100

It's funny to see how people's tastes in games vary so much and how they think everybody should have the same view that they do. I know someone who says that Zelda 2 is the best game in the Zelda series, which is definitely an unorthodox view but, hey, if that's the game he enjoys the most that's all that matters for him, not what somebody else says. We all like things for different reasons.

I'm almost done with Skyward Sword and I've enjoyed it quite a bit more than my first playthrough with Twilight Princess. I've grown to like more and more what Twilight Princess brings to the table though now that I've finished it and can see the game for what it is in its totality and what it uniquely brings to the Zelda series.

Re: Nintendo Zone Launched in Europe

sc100

All the McDonald's near my house here in the US are Nintendo Zone locations, so I've used it a couple times. When I used it, it mostly featured movies and trailers that are already available publicly. The only exclusive feature I remembered was a trivia game about Mario's history. This has a chance to be a really cool feature if they put a lot of exclusive content on it in the future, and even better if it offers downloadable content like new items or levels for games or videos you can save to your home menu.

Re: Nintendo: "Experience of Playing", Not Tech Specs, Key to Wii U

sc100

@sdcazares1980

I wasn't disagreeing with you in terms of Nintendo's systems needing to be impressive technically. Like I said, I think Nintendo needs to make their systems as powerful as they can be without them getting too pricey. This is what they did in the past. If the Wii was more powerful, it would have had more third party games and people like you might not have needed to buy other systems to get the third-party games. I was just saying that Nintendo having their system be on par power-wise with what Microsoft and Sony offer isn't enough. They need to stay unique from the competition in what it personally offers, both in terms of hardware and software, in order to stay relevant as there's no need in the marketplace for a third system that just does what Sony and Microsoft do. I don't think Nintendo will be able to stay in the hardware business if they don't offer anything meaningfully different to what Microsoft and Sony offer, even if the systems are the same in capability.

Regarding the "kiddie" issue, I know that a lot of people have that perception of Nintendo, I'm just saying that the games are still fun, great games regardless of how they look and that a lot of their games don't really look that kiddie. I've found that most people that slam Nintendo don't play Nintendo games and if they did they would find that they're fun games.

Re: Nintendo: "Experience of Playing", Not Tech Specs, Key to Wii U

sc100

@sdcazares1980

Actually I think the only way Nintendo can survive is if it remains unique from the competition, offering a gaming experience that isn't offered anywhere else. There isn't enough room in the market for another system that just tries to copy what Microsoft and Sony are doing. Nintendo knows that there are always going to be huge corporations like Microsoft and Sony that are willing to enter the video game market and that have the resources to put out powerful systems with all kinds of bells and whistles. If Microsoft and Sony stepped out of the business some other companies would just come in and do the same thing. So Nintendo needs to offer a gaming experience that you can't get on the other systems, which includes not just unique games but also hardware that is unique. Otherwise, there's no reason to purchase a Nintendo system over the competition. I do agree that Nintendo needs to produce a system that is as powerful as it can be without making it too expensive and I think Nintendo will do that with the Wii U just like they've done with all the other systems they've produced besides the Wii. But they still have to be different than the competition.

In regards to the perception that Nintendo's games are kiddie and people pass them up, it's unfortunate that some people have this perception because they're passing up great games. And besides, most of Nintendo's games aren't really that kiddie anyways, games like Metroid, F-Zero and even Zelda. Kirby is probably Nintendo's most "kiddie" series but it's still a blast to play. A great game is great regardless of the art style it has or how much violence is in the game. We see this not just with Nintendo's games but also with games like the Bit.Trip series and Rayman Origins. I'm just hoping more and more people will see this. Thankfully, I think the FPS craze will die down a lot over the next couple years as people get tired of the genre and want to try other gaming experiences, just like what happened with the fighting genre in the 90's.

Re: Nintendo: "Experience of Playing", Not Tech Specs, Key to Wii U

sc100

@Alienfish

Exactly. Iwata has already said that Nintendo is pursuing a different strategy with the Wii U as compared with the Wii, that they're wanting the system to appeal more to third-party developers and for the system not to be seen as just a casual system. That's why Nintendo has been making a big deal of all the third-party developers that have agreed to make games for the Wii U. And that's why I do think the system will be impressive power-wise. Remember that the Wii is the only time Nintendo has ever released a system that was way behind the competition power-wise, so this is not something Nintendo ALWAYS does. Just one time. So this time I think the Wii U will be like the way the GameCube was stacked up against the competition, except with vastly improved online capabilities. And of course with a new innovative controller that hopefully will really add a lot to gameplay.

Re: Talking Point: Is Wii U's Power Really That Important?

sc100

@BudrSbastig

I agree with you that the Wii U might not sell as well as the Wii did but it doesn't have to in order to still be a financial success for Nintendo. And remember that if Nintendo does go down the route of purposefully limiting the system's hardware, like some are suspecting, that means they'll be making a lot more money off of each system sold, as they'll be using less expensive technology. The fact is, millions of people like me will continue to buy Nintendo's systems regardless of the third-party support because Nintendo offers a gaming experience you can't get anywhere else. There are a lot of people who have PS3s and Xbox 360s that buy Wiis just to play Nintendo games. It would be nice to have as much third-party support as possible but not having it won't be enough to sink Nintendo and force it to stop making home systems.

Re: Talking Point: Is Wii U's Power Really That Important?

sc100

First of all, I have no doubt that the Wii U will prove to be more powerful overall than the current-gen systems and I think E3 will show that. Second of all, even if the Wii U isn't as powerful as Microsoft and Sony's next-gen systems at least the Wii U will be playing in the same resolution as the other systems, which will be a big help. So the difference in the graphical appearance of the systems won't be as big as it is now. Frankly, I'm not that worried about third-party developers rejecting the Wii U, especially at first since the Wii U will be the most powerful system on the market for maybe two years. Microsoft and Sony really don't want to release new systems any time soon for a number of reasons. But I think they'll be forced to eventually because they don't want Nintendo to have the most powerful system on the market for too long.

Re: Developers: Wii U "Less Powerful than PS3 and 360"

sc100

As for me, I'll wait for E3 before I pass judgement on the Wii U, which is only two months away. We'll know basically everything then, as we'll only be four or five months away from launch at that point. In the meantime, we have some people saying the Wii U is less powerful than Xbox360/PS3, some saying it's the same and some saying it's more powerful, which basically leaves us still not knowing anything regarding its power.

Re: Review: 90's Pool (DSiWare)

I'd like to play pool to some early 90's rap: Ice Cube, LL Cool J, Will Smith, Eazy-E, Heavy D, Kris Kross, Vanilla Ice! Some Milli Vanilli would be good too.

Re: Spirit Camera Event Set to Haunt San Francisco

sc100

I live pretty close to San Fran but I won't be able to make it tonight. Bummer. I'm interested to see how this game turns out. I think it has definite potential and since it's published by Nintendo there's a good chance it'll be good.
