Look! A cat!

Animal Crossing 3DS has an official title and release window for Japan, those lucky blighters.

Its full Japanese title is Doubutsu no Mori: Tobidase. Tobidase means 'jumping out' of something, a phrase often used to describe the 3DS's 3D capabilities but which Nintendo president Satoru Iwata says also refers to the game's wireless functions, something he sadly didn't have more to say about.

Iwata did reveal several new screenshots however, showing off Tom Nook's replacement as shopkeeper, Kicks' new shoe shop, your mayor's office and a little hut outside. Maybe not the most exciting revelations to anyone who's not a big AC fan, but any new details are like catnip to series fans.

The game reaches Japan this Fall. Here's hoping today's European Nintendo Direct has some more information for us.
