They need to update the miis. They looked horrible even on the wii, they could surely update them to be nicer looking and have more options

There is also the fact you can play on your smartphone for only 5 dollars a prettier, more fun and better designed xcom game. You cant be that desperate for a new wii u game that youd consider buying this for 5x the price or more.

This review really undersells the amount that this game just completely copies xcom enemy unknown shamelessly. And somehow screws it up so badly in the process.

The only actual marketing nintendo has done here in australia is mario kart 8 mcdonalds toys. Unless you go into a store and see it on the shelf or frequent game websites you wouldnt even know abput the wii u

@Platypus101 yeah. Half the people I know who arent hardcore dont even know yet that the wii u is a new console, all still believe its a wii controller if they even know of its existence. Im in australia btw and have yet to see even a single commercial on free to air tv about anything nintendo related at all other than a few 3ds commercials about tomodachi life of all things.

Once nintendo actually puts any effort into a marketing campaign then their games wont sell so poorly, and maybe people who dont go onto gaming website would know that they even exist.

its going to sell poorly going up against smash bros and bayonetta, but of course it will be our fault, they could have released it a month or two ago when there was a gap in releases

i vote for sunshine. it is the last game to have an actual hub world to explore for secret stars and such, i miss that so much from the newer linear games

it makes me wonder just what the heck is nintendo doing? all i hear is games not coming to wii u, and nintendo stays quiet and doesnt even try to get them games to come to wii u. i honestly regret buying this thing, one good nintendo game every 6 months just isnt good enough

@Porky i bought the yoshi special design one without noticing it. after using it and having my sister and a friend ask me why i put the yoshi "sticker" on upside down it got to me a bit.

why does the 3ds xl not have a charger in the box in europe?? that seems an odd thing to not include in the box

@Achoo if you have the 3ds shut anyway you could flip it around to see the design if you wanted too

why do they design it so people looking at you using the 3ds see an upside down picture? it doesnt make sense to put the design that way

Well hopefully the bayonet ta download counts towards the premium cash back thing like the mario kart download game did. That deal was awesome, got super Mario kart mario kart 8 game and wario and 14 dollars eshop credit for 69 bucks. Hopefully same sort of thing like that happens here too.

The graphics and racing are great but that's where the good points end. Battle mode has been completely ruined, which is a shame, whoever thought it was a good idea should be fired immediately. The online mode is completely barebones with no way to interact with people or even invite your friends to a game. The character roster is terrible with the majority of it koopa kids or baby characters. There needs to be some more variety, even more so now that battle mode is ruined, all there is is just racing. For all their talk of balancing you can still get completely pummeled by the Ai one after the other way to often. Mario kart TV seems pretty pointless, the highlight reels have no context and you can't upload a whole race to youtube. They better be working hard on that FREE battle arena dlc or I be very disappoint in this game

To those people who don't already know you can totally use wii mote and nin chuck controls in off TV mode using the gamepad sensor bar for the wii mote. I don't think many people know this with all the people complaining about not being able to play well on the gamepad alone. Just put the pad in the stand and hold the wii mote about 20-30 centimetres away from the screen. It works just as well as doing it on the TV.

@LexKitteh it wouldnt be to hard for them to swap the stick functions, looks like a complete oversight to forget about all of us left handed people.

@Chris720 it would barely use 50mb an hour at most unless you are playing an mmo or something. but yeah you are more likely to blow your data cap browsing facebook. ive played pc games off of 3g before, it isnt as bad as it sounds and will surely not affect a 3ds game as much as long as you have adequate cell reception.

And that average above was for gaming on consoles, would probably be even less on a 3ds game without voice chat etc.

@Chris720 unless you are downloading a full game from the store, just playing a game online actually doesn't up all that much data, no where near as much as say watching a video on YouTube would use. It's your ping and response times of your connection that affect your gaming, not download and upload limits. It obviously depends on the game, but either way even the most data intensive game won't use much of your data. Playing online is just sending bits of code to the other players, it's not a huge file like a video. EDIT: actually just looked it up and if you play online it would be the equivalent of loading a single average Web page for an hour or so of average online gaming, so playing online will barely affect your data cap as long as you aren't downloading games.

so you vs cpus in battle mode, is that just in offline with 4 players? i haven't heard anything about it really, but is battle mode even playable on-line? and if it is is it 12 players?

correct me if im wrong but dont capacitive screens need to be glass to work, leading to them being more fragile and prone to braking more than a plastic resistive screen? ive dropped my gamepad many times, i couldnt imagine how easily it would have broken with a glass screen.

i just received it from Nintendo. great soundtrack with heaps of song and the CD booklet has little bits of info about all the songs from the composers and some art which is a nice touch, only problem is when i load it on to my computer the track list is in Japanese D:

this guy just needs to resign, he is doing a terrible job currently, why would you be worried about this other QoL project when the wii u is slowly dying right in front of you? sure if they brought up this QoL thing when everything was going great during the wii"s hayday that would be all sweet. but they should be focusing on saving the wii u right now not on other projects.

Man here in Australia there has literally never been a wii u ad on the TV ever, nobody even knows the thing exists! Every person who visits my house says wtf is that thing when they see the gamepad. Nintendo of Australia is pretty much non existent, they have only just in the last few weeks gotten around to making themselves a Facebook page. The advertising I have ever seen or heard outside of an eb games or jb hifi store is a new yoshi island audio ad in a target store of all things. It's almost like they are intentionally trying to fail! I love the system, it could be great but not with this terrible mismanagement from all over.

@Damo @andrea987 So you have to watch the whole match each time? Can anyone tell me how long each match gos for? A minute or two won't be too bad but 3 or more andit might get too boring.

what i don't understand is why is this game on 3ds at all? surely a golf game would be a million times better on wii u with motion controls? much better than press a and press a again when a bar charges up, that is all you do in this game on the main courses, most of the time you don't even have to aim your shot its already lined up for you.

@AJWolfTill im pretty sure rayman had some 3d things in it, some of the bigger enemy and the backgrounds were 3d i believe. if the entire game could work in 3d, who knows though?

The ranking system seems backwards to me. How are you to know who is number 1 in the world if number 1 is last and whatever number is top is number 1? Like saying I am number 300456 in the world does not sound as impressive as saying you are number 1.

shows how much effort gamefreak put into optimising their simple battle scenes, when this can run at 60 fps consistently in 3d, even if it was at 30 fps it would still be better.

I'm a bit sad this mode won't be in the wii u version, this looks really fun but I don't want to play this game on a 3ds at all.
