Re: Just How Much Can Your Sealed Retro Games Sell For?

mordecai

This is nothing new. Popular, sealed games have always commanded a premium as it's a natural progression of "I want a nice copy for my shelf". It's a little mental to want one you can't play but the counter argument is by being sealed, it's in better condition.

Re: Hardware Review: The Analogue Super Nt Is The Ultimate Way To Play SNES Games In 2018

mordecai

@GravyThief: Absolutely. The SNES offers native RGB output as well. There is more of a case for a NES clone since you have to mod, SNES not so much. The problem with this clone is it falls in the middle between casual and high end. Casual can fall on the Classic Minis, mod them and put roms on and be done for $80. The other end of the spectrum will spend considerably more than $200 on a XRGB or OSSC, systems and cables. Also the Analog option (at least for now) covers 1 system. The other ones cover considerably more. While the system is top notch, this point needed to be elaborated in the review because it is something for buyers to consider and where the review falters. They need to see where they fall.

Also, SNES prices slowly creeping? That would imply they're not already astronomical? Are you sure about that?

I have to disagree with the score. It offers limited content but it is not a bad game. Don't forget that it costs only 4.49$. It's basically a multiplayer version of Snake in 3D and I had a lot of fun with it.

Interesting game. Would consider it as an "art game". Definitely up for video game theory critique.

Uhh.. Do you know what "sovereign citizen" means? Because it ain't these people. You could throw a whole lot of mean, variably inaccurate terms at them, but "sovereign citizen" is one of the ones that really, totally does not in any way apply. Maybe you should go away and learn a bit more before commenting again.

Re: Poll: The Wii U GamePad - Where Do You Stand on Nintendo's Hefty Controller?

mordecai

I really don't like it, for 2 main reasons.

The first is that it creates this paradigm where I'm expected to look at two screens at the same time. Eyeballs don't work like that. And you can either pause the game, not look at the action to look at a menu, or you can look down at your lap, not look at the action to look at a menu. I've seen people complain that on-screen menus are too slow, but they have the benefit of stopping the action while you're doing it. In Arkham City, you would have to find a perch on top of a building to safely look at the menu, meanwhile you hear the criminals on the ground saying the same things over and over. Obnoxious. You also have times where the TV image has to say "look at the Gamepad." How is that useful? If you have to display that message, you could just be displaying the thing you want the player to look at in the first place.

The second thing is simply ergonomics. It's not heavy, but since it's only slightly larger than the state of Montana it is a bit unwieldy. Plus you have tiny vertical grips way at the bottom of the controller, but the analog sticks are way at the top on the other side. It's like the controller was designed for people with the hands of small children and the thumbs of Pumpkinhead.
