Re: Capcom Apologises for Poorly Worded Tweet

moosa

The only people I see at fault in this very situation right now is all the "fans" taking this completely the wrong way when it isn't too hard to figure out what they're trying to say.

People just need something to complain about...

Re: Capcom Blames the Fans for Mega Man Legends 3 Cancellation

moosa

It was pretty obvious that this was the case. They created the Dev Room to see if they could get enough people involved to prove that there was enough interest in the game to go through with it. Clearly there weren't enough people that got involved in the process there and therefore Capcom cancelled it. It was a pretty silly little experiment in my opinion, but that's what they did.

Re: Preview: Kid Icarus: Uprising

moosa

I can't help but think about Metroid Prime Hunters while reading this. So many people whined about the controls but they were pretty damn close to perfect if you just learn them. Clearly there's some discrepancy here between the ground and flying missions, but I'm hoping it ends up being nothing more than "slightly awkward until you get used to it." The game is already looking a lot better than when they where showing it earlier, so I think we'll see even more refined gameplay by release.

Re: First Impressions: Heroes of Ruin

moosa

@11 WaltzElf: Valid point, but western-style RPGs don't tend to be as drenched in storytelling as jRPGs. And it's a little weird to expect lots of storytelling in an online multiplayer environment. That doesn't work.

Re: Vigil Games Talks Darksiders II and Tricky Wii U Development

moosa

Argh. I wish these industry idiots (okay, no real disrespect) would stop acting like people who buy Nintendo consoles only want to play Mario and Zelda games. Good grief. If it's a game about punching people's heads off over and over, and it's a GOOD game, then we will buy it!

Re: Hopes for CRUSH3D to Launch This Year Have Been Crushed

moosa

Further proof that people in the industry have no idea how to sell games.
Look at the Wii: oodles of console sales and a wide-open software base during the first couple years just waiting for anyone with a real budget to sweep in and take over the market. Did it happen? No. Instead it was "we better just stick to shoveling out this casual bait."

Re: Sorry, Looks Like Netflix Isn't Getting 3D Movies

moosa

Why are people blaming Nintendo? Or better yet, why am I surprised that people are blaming Nintendo?

Between this and the recent price hike for Netflix service, it doesn't seem that Netflix are looking to please many. I won't even be trying this service given that the possibility of 3D was it's only selling point on this platform for me and surely many others.

Re: First Impressions: Resident Evil Revelations

moosa

RE4 not scary? Really? There are so many reasons why I disagree with this. RE4 has a few good jump moments like the other games, but those are very much "cheap scares" and I have to say it's not nearly as interesting as the other kinds of fear RE4 was working with. Those psycho freaks with the huge claws that are blind but can hear every move you make? Yeah, being in the same room with one of those is one of the more frightening experiences I've had in a videogame.

Re: Talking Point: The Growing Storm of Operation Rainfall

moosa

The problem is, if Nintendo actually WERE planning to release these games in NA at a future date (perhaps the beginning of next year, when there likely won't be much to hold up the Wii platform before Wii U), then people taking part in this Operation Rainfall are going to be all "HA, TOLD YOU SO! TAKE THAT NINTENDO! I GUESS WE SHOWED YOU!" etc. even though they were just doing their own thing all along. People love the drama, the thrill of rebellion, the idea of taking on the big bad corporation to get what's "rightfully theirs." Really it's all BS. If Nintendo releases these games, you won't see much gratitude, but rather a bunch of smug kids acting like they just overthrew a corrupted government or did something else gravely important with their lives.

There's my dose of negativity for the day. Prove me wrong.

Re: Iwata Tells Shareholders "Core Gamers Will Accept Wii U"

moosa

@8 Bezerker99 Look at the picture more closely. Notice how easily Iwata palms that thing? Iwata-san isn't exactly a big guy.

@101 LTD "Don't they already have a PS3 or Xbox 360 for that?" This will be Nintendo's biggest hurdle with the Wii U. Nintendo needs to bring something to the table that makes gamers who already own an HD console to say "I need that." They may be able to do it (the controller itself isn't anything we've seen before), but it could be tough. They'll need more from 3rd parties than ports of PS3/360 games.

Re: Wii U Striking Balance Between Performance and Price

moosa

@Mandoble #31 Arma 2 does look impressive, but I certainly wouldn't say that it looks remotely "next gen" compared to current games on HD consoles. A lot of people say that RAGE is the most visually impressive game yet, and that's running on 360. The truth is we really are reaching a point of diminishing returns with regards to graphics power in games. Wii U probably won't look significantly better than current HD consoles even if it is a bit more powerful (I'm hoping for the same graphic detail at 1080p and 60fps, but we'll see). Even if Sony and Microsoft's next consoles are a lot more powerful in terms of numbers, there's only so much more developers are going to be able to get out of it purely for visuals, and that extra visual fidelity costs money to produce (HD games cost significantly more to make than Wii games, for instance). And don't forget about what happened this generation when Sony tried to make a console that they considered "next-gen" compared to previous hardware... "$599 US DOLLARS." What's it going to take this time?

Re: Wii U Striking Balance Between Performance and Price

moosa

All this talk about PC technology being so far ahead...
Please, tell me, where are all of these PC games that look dramatically better than what you can get on PS3/360?
Now, tell me where you can get a PC for $300 that will run any of those games.

Re: Super Mario 3DS Has More Thrills, Less Exploration

moosa

@2 They can't just keep releasing Mario Galaxy over and over and expect people to keep calling it a masterpiece over and over again.
There's more than one way to make a Mario game. I'm glad to see they're continuing to evolve the formula and tread brand new ground, as they always have.
Interesting how there's no stars or etc. to collect this time.

Re: Nintendo Not Interested in Producing Free-To-Play Software

moosa

Yes, the article is potentially misleading.
It would help if you pointed out what these "free to play" games being referred to are.
We're talking about Facebook games, certain MMO's like Maple Story and other social games, games that lure you in with the idea of free gameplay, get you addicted, and then do everything they can to coerce your money out of you. These are not "quality" games; they're designed to be highly addictive and, bottom line, to take your money from you.

Re: First Impressions: Nintendo Wii U

moosa

I dunno Corbs. I guess we're all just wired a little differently. As a "creator" myself, all I can think about whenever Nintendo comes out with something new like this is all the creative possibilities it brings, and that's what gets me flipping mad with excitement. My head goes wild with all these ideas and that's how I know Nintendo is on to something. It is worth mentioning that often times developers don't manage to deliver the full potential of the technology in their products. This was definitely the case with Wii as well as other consoles. So I guess for some people like yourself, you just need to see the final product in the games themselves before you can judge whether or not you like what's being offered.

Re: First Impressions: Nintendo Wii U

moosa

What I have to say about the Wii U is that I definitely "get it," whether or not this one tech demo you played is any fun. The windows opened up by this new controller are surprising for such a simple concept. Let me point out that there's a lot more in store here than just different ways to control the games we already have.

@19 It's difficult to explain briefly, but there's a LOT more to this than a simple "dual screen" experience a-la DS. I suggest you read the Iwata Asks intervew about the Wii U controller to help get your mind around where this is going.

Re: Over 1 Million 3DS Consoles Sold in Japan

moosa

@GamersCorner That's only true in the context that developers make the games so they can't run on less powerful hardware. Truth be told, there are very few gameplay concepts represented on HD consoles that couldn't be done on Wii hardware.

Re: Darksiders II Launching in 2012 for Wii U

moosa

@19 I believe you're right, and considering the content of this article it doesn't seem like there's any reason why they wouldn't have this ready for day 1 at launch. But NL has been using the term "launch" referring to other games lately as well. I still believe it's misleading. Nobody talks about "launch dates" for software.

I'm not trying to make it out to be a big deal. It's not. But I do also believe it's important for reporters to strive to deliver information that's accurate and not misleading (whether or not that's what ends up happening in the real world).

Re: Following Wii U Unveiling, Nintendo Shares Drop 10%

moosa

@37 The fact that the 3DS isn't annihilating every sales record doesn't in any way translate into it being unsuccessful. The Wii is obviously one of the most successful consoles ever, and your prediction about the Wii U is entirely groundless. In no way is Nintendo "in trouble" as a company. Your combination of pessimism and acting like you know things that you don't is a bit irksome. Maybe lighten up a bit?

Re: Miyamoto: "3DS Could Be a Convenient Wii U Controller"

moosa

@7 How does that make more sense? "Our next generation home console requires that you buy our $250 portable console to play it!"

@9 There's likely at least a year, if not longer, before this thing launches. There's nothing wrong with the fact that they're still working on it. That just means we have more exciting details to look forward to over the coming year.
