Re: Hands-On: Hori 3DS Compact Pouch

moosa

HORI is certainly not a bad brand... but there are plenty of other brands that make just as high quality (or better) products, especially with regards to these cases. I ordered a much nicer looking case with 29 slots of game card storage and such for only about $13. The only things from HORI worth getting exited over in my opinion are when they do unique controller designs.

Re: 3DS Arrives at Nintendo Life

moosa

As much as I love Monkey Ball, and as perfect as it would be for 3D, I don't have high expectations for this 3DS version. There's only three game modes, the standard play, Monkey Fight, and Monkey Race (which apparently involves carts now). Sounds like a rush job to me. I think I'd rather have a port of the original game, however many years ago that was. At least that had 6 fleshed-out minigames.

Re: Netflix Heading to 3DS in Summer 2011

moosa

Wondering if I would enjoy watching a film on that little screen... Well, if they could sell movies on GBA then I'm sure it would at least work. And I probably won't have any other way to watch movies in 3D any time soon. I may need to do this, at least once.

Re: Review: BIT.TRIP FLUX (WiiWare)

I've only played BEAT... I want to play the rest of them but the sheer volume of them at this point makes it too expensive... =/ What a funny circumstance.

BIT.TRIP compilation... please Gaijin?

Re: Ridge Racer 3D Packed with Content, Despite Being on a Handheld

moosa

It's really worth noting what was said in the interview about the graphics as well. Ridge Racer games have always been known to receive their last coat of polish at the very last minute, so we should expect previous impressions and screenshots to be somewhat inaccurate. I'm not sure if the screenshots posted here on NL are representative of the final version or not though.

Re: Talking Point: Why Nintendo and Rare Should Reunite

moosa

If Nintendo somehow got the notion and the balls to buy the rights to Jet Force Gemini I COULD NEVER ASK FOR ANYTHING MORE.

This will never happen. And if Rare/Microsoft ever finds themselves digging up the property to develop a sequel it will never live up to the original. Such is life.

Re: Even in Pieces, the 3DS is a Sexy Piece of Hardware

moosa

@Mikau94 they made the entire bottom of the case the battery cover.
I'm somewhat eager to get my hands on it and check out that resin case. It's supposed to be a pretty high-tech process for a machine produced in mass quantities to create the cosmetic effect.

Re: EA Weed-Whacks Gardens from Production

moosa

Honestly, it never looked very pretty. A gardening game COULD be entertaining, but I get the feeling this was more of a "scribble here to water the flowers" experience and little more.

Anyways, EA was probably betting on the 3DS being full of low-budget, casual-oriented softwares, and then backed off after seeing one-on-one 3D fighters and Tom Clancy games in the launch list.

Re: CTA Digital's 3DS 22-in-1 Accessory Kit Trumps All Opponents

Comparable kit for substantially less:

These kits always tend to have things you don't really want/need in addition to the quality of the items themselves being low, anyways.
Also, I highly doubt any of these speaker add-ons would actually improve upon whats already coming out of the 3DS's own speakers.

Re: Cave Story is Coming to 3DS in Full Retail Form

moosa

Well... Yes, I HAVE had my fill of Cave Story by now... But blah I may have to buy this anyways. =/

Then again... If this isn't a download it might be a little expensive compared to past releases. They would have to give me a LOT to convince me to buy it again for $40.

Re: Nintendo Announces Official 3DS UK Launch Line-Up

moosa

@JamieO: I pretty much agree with you. It would be cool if there was one big, new game for everyone to get excited over. But even so, I think a lot of these games have potential to turn out really good games. I also think there hasn't been a console launch in the past 15 years where there weren't people calling it a "weak" launch.

Re: Nintendo Announces Official 3DS UK Launch Line-Up

moosa

So Nintendo dont want to blow away the 3rd parties straight out of the gate.

This is important. I was going to point this out too. If Nintendo released Zelda on day one, 3rd party software sales would suffer. Nintendo doesn't want that. We don't want that. We want quality third party support. Honestly this launch looks very strong, with lots of good looking games covering a very wide demographic. Sure, if the 3DS had its own Halo, it could move a lot of systems, but we don't want everybody buying one game and then giving all the quality 3rd party games the shaft.

The other thing is, people seemed to have this weird idea that because Nintendo showed off all of these big games at E3, they would all be coming on launch day... It's very much in Nintendo's interest to spread the big titles out over time, and nobody needs to buy 5 triple-A titles on the same day. I'm sure that on the day the NGP lauches, Nintendo will not only already have a very strong software lineup established, but they'll also have at least one big game release to answer them with.

Re: Europe's 3DS Launch Line-Up According to Gamestation

moosa

I think you guys are really underestimating these games! PES looks pretty awesome. Nobody has even mentioned Super Monkey Ball. I don't think Lego Star Wars has ever let us down. We've never had Dead or Alive on a Nintendo console. Rayman (2) may have been ported a number of times in the past but it's still a beloved classic. And who doesn't like Rabbids? Super Street Fighter IV is my definite choice, because I can't pay $40 for all of these, but I think people are really underestimating how much work has been put into Nintendogs + Cats. I just read the Iwata Asks interview about it, and they've got some pretty surprising new features such as face recognition and AR support. Apparently if you bring your face close to the screen, the pup will pop out and lick your face, and the dogs with react differently towards different people as well as remember their faces. Anyways, I know it's not a "gamer's game," but I think it's looking pretty damn cool.

Re: Europe's 3DS Launch Line-Up According to Gamestation

moosa

Why does everyone expect the console to launch with 5 triple-A titles on day one? Any console that launches with one is doing pretty good. And honestly, there's a lot of big names here. This launch is probably overall bigger and better than most other console launches historically. The only thing it's lacking is that one big, "new" game that everyone just needs to experience, like Halo was for Xbox, because if you look every title on this list is actually from an existing franchise.
