Re: Random: Nintendo Customer Service Wins The Day With Sweet Response To Young Pokémon Fan

@Dirty0814 So don’t read Nintendolife articles then? Nobody’s shoving anything down your throat. If you want to be small minded and ignorant to the fact that there are genuinely non-binary kids around, be my guest.

The Pokemon Company is literally not going to care if you and your kids stop playing. You’re literally a single person to them.

As for the rest of us, we won’t be bullying little kids, thanks.

So many angry people in the comments.

Ask yourself why you’re angered about this story. It doesn’t concern you. Whether the kid had help or not, this isn’t affecting your life at all. Appreciate the niceness for what it is.

Surely there are deeper things to be angered by. Like equal rights for LGBTQIA+. Like racial equity. Like inclusion across the board.

Jeeze. Fully grown adults bullying little kids like it’s nothing. Question your lives.

Re: FIFA 19 Cover Star Under Fire Following Serious Allegation, EA "Closely Monitoring" Situation

@johnvboy I do agree that it's hard to navigate things like this. I mean, #MeToo was a double-edged sword. On the one hand, it gave victims the confidence to stand up, and opened a lot of eyes to the nature of these crimes. On the other hand, it increased the number of false accusations, and amplified the damage inflicted on unproven cases.

Mob mentality is never a good thing, but we should also treat every allegation as seriously as we can. At the end of the day though, we're not judges. Only the law can decide what happens to the people involved.

@Switcher Dyslexia? You realise any comment regarding handicap is against community rules, right?

My statement about him being neither guilty nor innocent is about logic. He can't be labelled guilty because of the law, and the state of the allegations. He can't be labelled innocent yet (regardless of the state of the investigation) because any allegation like this has to be treated with the same discretion as any other case.

If I was you, I'd take some time to follow up on the rules of the website, and learn how to be a nicer human.

Re: FIFA 19 Cover Star Under Fire Following Serious Allegation, EA "Closely Monitoring" Situation

@SmaggTheSmug Well, apparently stats have suggested false reports are at around 2% to 10%. A lot of the time, victims don't come forward, don't get their voice heard, or get strong armed into dropping it.

Yes, trial by social opinion is horrible. And if the allegations are false, the woman would have contributed to ruining the career of an innocent man. But if they are true, she'd get the right to see her abuser charged.

I agree with you that a lot of the time, social media plays judge/jury/executioner, which is wrong. I'd rather things like this were dealt with in private, with the outcome made public. But that would mean women/men that have also been affected by an abuser may not have the strength/support to also come forward.

@Fandabidozi Yeah, it's too early to get annoyed at EA. I mean, I hate the company just as much as the next guy, but they're trying to protect their brand from any potential blow back. Given she filed a police report at the time, there might be some truth there, but we don't have enough information to start calling him an abuser. On the same note, we don't have enough information to call her a liar.

Some people forget that, as a public, we only see a small portion of the whole story. We shouldn't jump to conclusions, but we should also be willing to hear all sides.

Re: FIFA 19 Cover Star Under Fire Following Serious Allegation, EA "Closely Monitoring" Situation

@Godlike_Virus You’re so ignorant. #MeToo isn’t about blindly believing any accusation - it’s about giving both parties an equal footing when it comes to allegations.

It’s not ‘guilty until proven innocent’. What this means, is that there will be a more in depth focus into his life. If he didn’t do anything wrong, he has nothing to hide. He isn’t firmly guilty or innocent at this point.

Saying this woman wants an easy pay off is so degrading, especially if the allegations are true. Shame on you.

Re: Well Would You Look At That, A Hat In Time Is Coming To Switch

moltakfire

This is a great game, yes. And for those who like the genre, I’d recommend it.

However, I won’t be picking it up. The relationship between a developer and the customers is important, and I was pretty appalled at how they handled the outcry for a Switch version before.

Screaming at (overeager) gamers is not the way to go. So I’m sure whoever picks it up will enjoy it, but I’m going to be passing on it.

I agree, Alex is a great guy and his videos are entertaining, but too much of a good thing can be a bad thing!

Congrats Damien - I’m glad you’re gonna be proofing the articles. Dom is well intentioned, but I definitely prefer your writing style.

@Nincompoop He wrote/directed/designed/produced lots of Metal Gear Solid games. His final one was MGS V in which he did all four. After escaping his slave overlords (KONAMI), he created his own company who are now working with Sony to bring Death Stranding to PS4. He's a really talented guy. Weird (very weird) but talented.

Dom, you're tearing a hole in adequate proof-reading. These aren't meant to be rude digs - a good portion of us are asking you to proof-read your articles. Eventually, we're all just going to move to a site that prioritizes eloquent journalism.

Re: Review: Shaq-Fu: A Legend Reborn (Switch)

@Lordplops I completely agree with you. There are grammar/spelling/phrasing mistakes that should have been picked up by the editor. Shiryu’s review is great, and it’s evident that he enjoys the gaming world, but it seems like he’s being let down by those in charge with proof-reading.
