Are people seriously complaining about an innocent comment about Cia's design? To throw in my two cents: I feel like both Lana and Cia don't fit in with the Zelda design at all, especially with certain camera angles (one shot in a cutscene focused entirely on Lana's breasts).
Although from what I've heard, Tecmo Koei have a habit of designing revealing, skimpy outfits for their female characters.
Thomas Was Alone is one of the best games I've ever played in terms of atmosphere and storytelling. Danny Wallace is hilarious and fits the tone of the game perfectly and I recommend this to anyone who hasn't yet played it.
For goodness' sake, I wish people would let the whole "sexualisation" thing go. Women are sexualised far more than men in video games, and it's troubling. Putting one character in his underwear is nothing compared to the historic sexualisation of one of Nintendo's only female protagonists.
Are Nintendo seeing actual results from forcing boybands to awkwardly play their games (see: One Direction playing Pokémon Black/White, Union J playing Pokémon X/Y)? These ad campaigns are terrible.
Normally I'd prefer a straight port of ChronoPhantasma, but after seeing how they handled the 3DS version of Continuum Shift II, I should be careful what I wish for.
Man, I'd really like to try Wario's Woods, especially for that price. The problem is I'd rather have it on 3DS as a go-to puzzle game (like my ambassador copy of Mario & Yoshi), but for that extra money I could get Punch-Out.
This is pretty much proof that we need a linked account system. Different prices for the same game on separate consoles is irritating.
If posts from New Art Academy or even the simple drawing tools on Miiverse are allowed, it's ridiculous to ban screenshots from this.
I'm starting to feel like Nintendo is spiting its users rather than moderate user-generated content properly. A "report" function on Swapnote and mods on the Comic Workshop community would be far better than not allowing anyone to share anything.
I feel like this suffers from the same problem as releases such as Giana Sisters and Scribblenauts Unlimited - it's been around for too long on PC for it to feel financially viable to buy the Wii U edition. I'm certainly tempted by the PC edition right now, seeing as it's a measly £1.24 in a flash sale right now.
I really want this to be real (I've wanted to play as E. Gadd for the longest time) but one thing I've heard mentioned is that Battle Mode doesn't actually allow you to use the glider under normal circumstances. They may well have changed that for Bob-Omb Blast but it looks like that could be the downfall of this if it's fake.
ONM may be "Official", but as far as I can tell they've never been written from within Nintendo and most of the time they have the same privileges and information as other, unofficial publications.
"Exclusives" like this that have been tucked away without fanfare have as much relevance as if they'd come from NGamer or GamesMaster; that is to say, zero.
@Oscarsome Thank you! That means a lot. I'm very interested in the subject of representation in the media so it's nice to see that the work I've put in to looking into it has paid off in some form
@noctowl "Homophobia encompasses a range of negative attitudes and feelings toward homosexuality or people who are identified or perceived as being lesbian, gay, bisexual or transgender (LGBT). It can be expressed as antipathy, contempt, prejudice, aversion, or hatred, may be based on irrational fear, and is sometimes related to religious beliefs."
That's the first sentence on the Wikipedia entry for homophobia, not that this story even directly relates to that.
I'm appalled that you'd suggest that people are not "entitled to 'rights'." Ignoring the fact that a right by its definition is something that everyone is entitled to, it's impossible to bury your head in the sand. Representation in media - be it video games, films, or anything else - IS of key importance and it's something we need. I'm not saying that Nintendo needs to start haphazardly throwing in characters of varying sexualities or that elude the gender binary, but surely a black character here or there wouldn't hurt, would it?
@kuribo4 Your point definitely stands in terms of inclusion of sexuality etc, but as far as race goes, inclusion is VERY important, especially in something that is aimed for children like this is. If a black child only ever witnesses whitewashed media, their view of themselves is likely to naturally diminish and they aren't necessarily included in what they are shown as "normal".
For what it's worth, lack of inclusion IS oppression. Lacking in black characters is racism, disallowing same-sex marriage is homophobia; you're essentially taking away (or simply not providing) rights that people should have.
That said, accusing the Mario series of being racist is ridiculous. Throwing in a "token" character for a spin-off game would have come off as patronising and altogether more racist than before. There is very clearly a conscious effort from Nintendo to include more female characters (Pink Gold Peach and Baby Rosalina didn't need to be included at all, but I daresay they were there to expand the female roster) so inclusion is something they're focused on.
That said, I certainly wouldn't be entirely opposed to seeing a black princess at some point in the series and would actively encourage it. Perhaps the next 3D Mario could have one.
@unrandomsam There isn't really a female equivalent to the word "wizard" anymore, seeing as "witch" has mainly negative connotations. I like the gender neutral word "mage" honestly.
I hope there comes a day when that Pikachu image is used for every single article on the site. Whether it's a happy article unrelated to Pokémon, I don't care. The age of Pikachu must begin.
Honestly I didn't even know there was a Bejeweled game on WiiWare, nor that Sneezies even existed. Makes you realise just how much more Nintendo are pushing digital content this generation; we get a substantial amount of hype and info about every game.
I have to say the trailer kinda turned me off the game. Graphically, it's nothing special and the framerate looked a little shaky in some clips. I'd be lying if I said I was excited in the first place (I'm terrible at FPSes) but this combined with the news that Europe won't get it until a long time after America (as with Mutant Mudds Deluxe, which we didn't get at all) leaves me with a sour taste in my mouth.

Re: Inquisitive Gamers Stumble Across Potential eShop Web Store
I can see this being announced at the same time as cross-buy. I mean, that has to come at some point, right?
...Right?
Re: Rare Donkey Kong Delights to Grace the Wii U and 3DS
Sweet! And that DKC:TF discount makes it cheaper than a boxed copy, too - Nintendo needs to do more of this!

Re: Review: Dedede's Drum Dash Deluxe (3DS eShop)
I'm surprised at the score, I was expecting it to feel a bit lacking. I don't own Triple Deluxe but I'm definitely hoping this gets an EU release.
Re: Nintendo Confirms Details of Its Super Smashing eShop Sale
Damn, I wish Europe had gotten the Tropical Freeze, Sonic 3D and Ghostly Adventures sales.
PS: "Kind Dedede"? I thought he was quite mean

I love that wooden one. Shame about the price.

Re: Nintendo Confirms amiibo Launch Range of 12 Figurines
I'm growing impatient for UK pricing now. Any more than £10 = no buy.
Re: Go! Go! Kokopolo Developer Explains Why It's Being Pulled From The eShop
It's being pulled down? I never actually got around to buying it! I remember wanting it from the first developer diary I saw in NGamer.
Re: Mario Kart 8 DLC Coming In November, Features Zelda And F-Zero Content
Should have gone the whole way and made a Super Smash Kart. That would have been incredible.
Re: Feature: Kickstarter's Wii U and 3DS Campaigns - 24th August
I don't really understand the hype for Nefarious. The animation looks like a cheap Flash game.

@Jmaster 3D Classics, definitely. The vanilla VC version has a tendency to lag a lot.

Any news on cross-buy yet?

For what it's worth, Brawl was 6.77GB. Hopefully this still has the same amount of content, even with one-third of the file size.
Re: Citizens of Earth Pushed Back to November, Priced at $14.99
I'm struggling to get excited for this. The art style just turns me away.

This seems like a much better alternative to Mighty No. 9. Goodbye to the slow place and boring landscapes.
Re: Skylanders Trap Team on Wii Will, Surprisingly, Come With a Free Download Code for the Wii U Version
Well, let's be honest: the Wii one will probably come cheaper than the Wii U one. Then you might be able to sell the Wii copy.
Re: Nintendo of Europe Launching Wii U Virtual Console NES Remix Promotion
I'd be interested in something the other way around. The more VC games you own, the cheaper NES Remix is.

What I gather from that is that it didn't work so well on a handheld, but they didn't think it would sell on consoles.

I hope by "budget-priced" this means they'll actually be paying me to play this trash.
It plays like something that they knocked up in 30 minutes using Game Maker.

Well, okay then.

Re: Nintendo Hosting Two Big Evening Presentations at E3
The second one could be something to do with their NFC project, because that sounds sufficiently big. Is that coming to 3DS or just Wii U?
Otherwise, it could easily be about Pokemon OR/AS. They had an X/Y developer roundtable last year.

Re: Nintendo Confirms Mario Golf: World Tour DLC, Pricing and Release Schedule
If I only I weren't so broke right now. I'm super interested in this game, and the ability to play as Nabbit looks great.
As someone who despises golf, the demo really changed my opinion on the game. If nothing else, it's proof that Nintendo needs to release more demos.
