Curve Studios is currently finalising Stealth Inc 2 as a Wii U exclusive, but it's also a company that publishes and ports some excellent download games across multiple platforms. The positive news is that it's bringing another highly-regarded title in its range to Nintendo's home console eShop — Thomas Was Alone.
Originally developed by Mike Bithell, this is a minimalist platform puzzler in which you control a small group of shapes, through increasingly tricky environments, with each given a name and sense of personality through narration by Danny Wallace. It's been critically acclaimed, particularly on PS3 and Vita.
Although not formally announced by Curve Studios, a listing has appeared on the website for the German rating service, USK; Curve Studios is well known for its quick work, so we may not have long to wait before we get our hands on this one.
Are you looking forward to Thomas Was Alone on Wii U? Check out the trailer below and let us know.

An article about Thomas Was Alone written by Thomas Whitehead.
Ok......
And it's a pretty good game. More for the story than the gameplay.
@Maelstrom Thomas Whitehead Was Alone, coming 2023 to NintendoLife Wii U.
What a weird title i thought it was talking about you Thomas.I actually thought you were all alone looking for company.
I appreciate the concern, but thankfully the game isn't about me...
The Indie U
LOL misleading article/title. (jk)
lol
@ThomasBW84 All you need to do is buy me a nice dinner
YES — this is properly awesome news, thanks Thomas!... you too Mr Whitehead!
Here's hoping that more indie devs/publishers take the plunge and follow Curve's lead in bringing their wonderful wares to the Wii U eShop. Indeed, regardless of age, genre and cost, I for one am more than happy to support super-talented indie outfits by double (or even triple) dipping for more Wii U ports!
Speaking of which, here's a few more indie darlings that I'd dearly love to see come to Nintendo's über-underrated GamePad-wielding system:
.
The story being narrated by a British man is probably the only reason to get this.
I highly recommend WiiU owners to get this game. It's very good.
@XFsWorld
Seconded..!!!
yes! Don't be fooled by the basic appearance this a must own.
@AcesHigh73
Rogue Legacy and Spelunky should come to Wii U ASAP!
@Swiket
Yeah, you're probably right on that one buddy. Still, if it 'was' do-able, FTL would rock on the GamePad.
@AcesHigh73 FTL: Faster Than Light would be awesome on the gamepad, i've had it since release and can always go back to it for a few games every now and then.That free expansion sized update certainly helped aswell .
Awesome! I've almost bought this a few times on Vita, will haffi check it out on Wii U!
Heard good things about this and I'll look forward to it.
Now all you have to do Thomas, is make it across the Atlantic Ocean, I'm sure you'll be fine.
Another great indie game on the way! What a turn around in the space of just a few months.
@AcesHigh73
Isn't VVVVVV already coming to Wii U? Would or swore I saw it in the e3 indie lineup.
If you liked the music in Sound Shapes as you go through relatively simple platforming gameplay, than you would also like Thomas Was Alone if the idea of interesting narrative through relatively simple platforming gameplay is appealing.
Everyone should get this game, the story is amazing and the music as well. The gameplays fun too if your into that sort of thing
Excellent news! Really glad I held off playing lots of these indie games finally coming to my preferred console (this, Gone Home, Guacamelee, etc.)
Now I just hope the Wii U can host games w/ as much press and acclaim as these instead of having them ported a year later.
(Scram Kitty was good, but didn't register the same kind of response as any of the above.)
I've been reading various reviews of Curve Studios games regularly. All of them seem to be well received, the lowest (metacritic wise) scoring one was that mouse game and even that was consider well above average (I have yet to read the full reviews on that one). Also I LOVED the Fluidity games so count me in.
I have it on PC from one of the Humble Bundles, but I prefer console gaming, and I have it on PS3 from a flash sale, but I don't have a PS3 yet. If this comes to the Wii U at a good price, I might just get it again. From what I've played on PC, it's an excellent game.
Did Curve ever say anything about bringing Stealth Inc. 1 to the eshop? It's on sale for the PS3 right now, but if it's coming to the Wii U at some point, I'd rather wait.
shm...thomas is gonna be really alone if he comes knockin on my wii u door thats for sure
@Hero-of-WiiU — Nah, unfortunately not
VVVVVV was recently released on iOS, and it's due to hit Vita later this year, but still no Wii U lovin for Terry Cavanagh's brilliant gravity switcharoo (...yet?)
Nice, Wii U is getting pretty decent Indie support.
i got this on vita for .99 cents a while ago but still havent played it yet. it looked like it might be good. but for that cheap who could say no.
@3dcaleb Ya me too. Also grabbed Urban Trials Freestyle on Vita for a buck. Heck it's one dollar, why not?
Oh, good call on this. I got it in a Humble Bundle and I actually just started playing it yesterday. I was thinking, here's an indie game that would find fans on Wii U.
The only question is whether or not I should drop this thing now like a hot potato and get back to it on Wii U, or finish it and skip the port.
Great, I've been curious about this since seeing mention on the excellent YouTube PBS Gameshow. Definitely one I'll be picking up.
Its a pleasant puzzle platformer. Pretty average gameplay but the story and narration are what make the game. I'd recommend it assuming they give a reasonably low price.
Thomas Was Alone is one of the best games I've ever played in terms of atmosphere and storytelling. Danny Wallace is hilarious and fits the tone of the game perfectly and I recommend this to anyone who hasn't yet played it.
