Re: Digital Foundry Weighs In On 'Switch 2' Motherboard - Just How Powerful Is It?

huupawel

they said the mother board leak hasn't changed at all on what they expect, and also the 8nm suits with the rumored specs that were released since May last year. The only concern is related with power efficiency (battery life), only based in legacy chips that use 8nm, but they also point that this is a custom chip and probably nvidia engineers figure out how to solve this, they also stated that porting ampere architecture to 4nm or 5nm doesn't make any sense.

Re: Video: Digital Foundry's Technical Analysis Of Luigi's Mansion 2 HD

huupawel

@NintendoKnight I agree with the price tag they should have stayed with 40 usd, but this hd version is actually pretty well ported, I don't know where you see the stuttering but the game is 30fps capped and 1080p native, not to mention that some texture and models were recreated (like luigi and Gadd) also with 60 fps the game could actually feel weird cause the original was also 30 fps.

Re: Paper Mario: The Thousand-Year Door Switch Frame Rate Revealed

huupawel

@ndunsmo time based combat doesn't matter how much frame you put but is extremely important to be constant (aka locked), probably one of the reasons behind they choose to lock the framerate to 30 instead of 60. If you see even many modern games that run at 60 fps they struggle to keep the 60 constantly having some areas and certain part of the game with frame drops, those drops are usually not below 45 and are not perceptible for the gamer in terms of visual smoothness but for time base combat it can affect gameplay significantly

Re: Review: Contra: Operation Galuga (Switch) - Does The Series Proud, But Best Played Elsewhere

huupawel

@HOUSE sadly here in Mexico where I live is hard to get an OLED steam deck and not sure if paying again for the whole product is worth the upgrade cause going from 60 to 90 in a small screen is hard to notice specially for indie games, also the OLED version was just released, so yeah of course anything 2024/2023 is better than 2017 hardware. Still for weight and battery life I still prefer to play on a switch console for indie games that has proper port work (not this case).

Re: Talking Point: What Do You Want To See From The Next Super Mario Bros. Movie?

huupawel

People asking plot is hilarious, the movie had more plot than Pacific Rim, Wreck it Ralph, Player number one, Avatar, Mad Max and even the last Spiderman movie (all the plot is from the prequel). Even Guillermo del Toro praised the Mario movie because not all animated movies needs to have the same pace as a Pixar/Disney movie, but people wants that all animated movies to have a death or a big familiar problem meanwhile live action movies are about everything.

Re: Review: Contra: Operation Galuga (Switch) - Does The Series Proud, But Best Played Elsewhere

huupawel

@HOUSE I have both and I still prefer the Switch if the game is available on both systems (except on poor optimization games like this obviously) because overall the Switch has better user and handheld experience, battery life is better, less weight, better screen and also you don't need to play with the game settings and hardware setting for each game. People forget that SteamDeck is not handheld but a mobile PC which has their own niche market, I still enjoy the console but is not a Switch competitor.

Re: Random: Miyamoto Made Shigesato Itoi Cry After 'Mother' Pitch

huupawel

@Carlore_Preventis not really, he was right, Miyamoto was the best game designer at that time (1989), Pikmin was 12 years later and is completely a different story. Miyamoto was worried about the challenges Itoi was going to have which actually he had, but the dev team behind Mother were geniuses, one of them Iwata.

Re: Video: Let's Discuss The Super Mario Bros. Movie

huupawel

@GooseLoose1 I didn't say that 10 years there weren't good animated movies all those movies you mention are great, amazing and nobody is arguing that they sucked, what I'm saying is that 10 years ago or even just 5 years ago most critics were giving a free pass to bad/mediocre animated movies like the boss baby or good dinosaur for example (as they did with Puss in Boots first movie).

Re: Video: Let's Discuss The Super Mario Bros. Movie

huupawel

@GooseLoose1 I didn't asked the other options, and is pretty obvious why Sony can't make Nintendo movies, Puss in boots was well received because it was released in 2011 at that time critics didn't care if animated movies have good plots or not, Puss in boots 2 ended to be one of the best animated movies of the decade despite being a sequel of a thin mediocre plot, the point here is that Nintendo/Illumination still have a chance to create something magical for the future, is not like the franchise is ruined or Nintendo will have to wait another 20 years to try again in movie industry.

Re: Video: Let's Discuss The Super Mario Bros. Movie

huupawel

@GooseLoose1 Sony... really? lol, Illumination has good renders but they are not good with scripts, ironically the Mario movie script has nothing to do with Illumination neither the direction, they hired scripts and directors from the Lego Movie and Teen Titans go movie, Nintendo wanted to focus more on children than adults on this one which is ok, remember the first Puss in Boots movie was super thin on script too.

Re: It's Official, E3 2023 Has Been Cancelled

huupawel

even as expected is not good for game industry, other media industries still have massive events doing showcases and big announcements, I still remember when there was much more excitement for an E3 than a Comic-on.

Re: Bowser Defends $70 Zelda Pricing, Nintendo Still "Very Bullish" About Switch

huupawel

@CharlieGirl still compared to other industries, videogame price cost is the most "fair" one lol, the same discussion happened 15 years ago when they increased 10 dollars more, still most of AAA games doesn't cover the high costs to develop a game with their sales, that's why is one of the worst industries to work. Meanwhile people are actually paying 300 dollars for windows or word lol. Sony, Microsoft and Nintendo are doing well because of the hardware sales, and companies like Riot, Activision, EA get their revenue thanks to microtransactions.

Re: Talking Point: So, When Will Nintendo Announce Its Next Console?

huupawel

Wii was also very successful and still his lifespan was 6 years, main reason they couldn't milk the wii more was because the hardware was getting outdated pretty fast, with the Switch is happening the same, is still having good sales but his outdated specs can rush Nintendo to release the Switch successor any time soon

Re: Nintendo Direct Mini To Air Tomorrow, June 28

huupawel

not good, the last time they did that was in 2020 and we had a first party direct until February next year lol, I don't think this would be the case, but looks like we are not going to have a Nintendo direct for a while.

Re: Review: F-Zero X - The Best The Series Has To Offer

huupawel

@CharlieGirl FzeroGX is pretty good has better race mechanics and high tier visuals that still stands in the modern era. But FZero-X tracks have much better design than FzeroGX, and even if the gameplay is simpler, single campaign and multiplayer mode are much fun.
